This card is pretty bad right now but who knows, it might be good down the line. Has interesting synergy with Primal Fusion and Totemic Might, summoning a totem before their effects trigger letting you do the kind of stuff that Druid does with Violet Teacher and Power of the Wild. Certainly not worth running next to other Shaman archetypes, but a lot of shamans best stuff will rotate next year and they may release more stuff for this kind of deck. This doesn't slot into shamans best deck now but it might next year.
As a guy who really loves Shaman this card doesn't settle well with me.. How does Blizzard view their basic totems in this game? Do they really think they are that valuable? This card should have better base stats, maybe a 3/5.
All the other shaman 4 drops are better. I see that they were trying to combo with primal fusion, because the totem would be summoned first before the buff, but the stats just aren't good enough.
Like everyone else, I consider this card quite substandard. It's basically a Violet Teacher with 1 less health, which is significant as quite a few removals do 4 damage. The basic totems aren't superior to the 1/1 Violet Apprentices to any significant degree.
I feel like this card would have been fairly balanced if it summoned ANY random totem, like Tuskarr Totemic. This would make it comparable to Murloc Knight, who has the same mana cost and statline. As with the Murloc Knight, most of the time, you're not going to get anything special, but there's always that chance if the RNG favors you. Keep in mind that Shaman doesn't have any mana reduction spells like Innervate or Preparation, limiting the amount of value you can get in 1 turn from "Whenever you cast a spell" effects.
As it stands right now, though, this card is indeed bad.
maybe good in an evolve deck? you can flood the board pretty easy with it, for example play this + feral spirits + evolve you get random 5 drop, 2x randon 3 drop 2x random 2 drop for 8 mana like (5/5 + 3/3 + 3/3 + 2/2 + 2/2 = 15/15 worth of stats in 5 bodies for 8 manda 3 cards).
Don't know, even if this is not a 7/7, could work in a bloodlust, evolve or Toten deck. I mean the totens flood are not that easy to be removed without AoE.
I think that this card has a place in some agrospell shaman and control, it's a way better violet teacherbecause now the totem's are much stronger if you think about it, even if you get the 1/1 you have a bigger chance to get the taunt totem at least. decent card. In arena this card is below average to decent if you have some spell's. not a card you wanna play on turn 4 over 4 mana 7/7.

Has some synergy with control shaman, but not enough to actually use it. Don't pass vanilla test. Bad.
Si vis pacem, para bellum.
Corvus oculum corvi non eruit.
Well, at least they're trying to turn Shaman to some sort of Mid-range Spellpower deck. Too bad Aggro is already so much better.
Comparable to Violet Teacher. This is a bit better in a totem deck but I don't think it's good enough.
Doesn't seem great, similar to how Totem Craver wasn't as good as Frostwolf Warlord.
Only basic totems? Bad card.

Horrible. Dust it.
too much cost too much rng overall medicore
It does say "Basic" totem, not "Hero Power" totem. Flametongue Totem is in the Basic set, so maybe it at least has a chance to roll high?
As a 3/5 Maybe but as a 3/4 no thx.
Very bad card, fails the vanilla test by 4/3 stat points. Also missing crucial overload (2) synergies.
Keep calm and use your hero power

Finally I can use Totemic Might Kappa.
No but seriously, I'll try to build a Totem deck just because it might be fun.
That's funny '[...] summon a random basic totem' hahaha
