if you are 100% F2P and achieved legend it might be prestigious.
No, it isn't. It just means you waited until you found a deck you can craft and crafted it. We're not exactly talking about fighting against L99 cash whales in a Korean MMO here. Especially since faster decks are in vogue again, which means you can make a budget deck that's pretty well off if not fully legend capable.
Legend rank is actually pretty rare among hearthstone players. But so is regularly visiting a forum. It's like going to college and bragging that you know Algebra.
Legend DOES have a major purpose, though. It's basically the separation between Casual play and Competitive play. I think I can be safe in saying that if you don't have the time/ability/willingnesstoplayadecentdeckORatleastlearnhowtoplayamemedeckproperly to reach legend then you wouldn't have a chance in a good tournament full of people who have the time to practice, have practiced enough to do well enough, and won't die of a heartattack because they aren't playing their oh so Special pet project deck.
*cough* Ok I may have issues. salt aside:
Most people play the game casually. Those people hang out around rank 20-5. Rank 5 is a sort of 'top of the ladder' for casuals. That puts Rank 4-1 the home for the 'wannabe competitive: the folks who want to try for the stars.. and can't. They aren't good at the game, or bad at choosing the right deck, or bad at playing the deck they are using, or too tilted, or just not enough time. Either way, you're missing something.
Thus getting to legend does mean you 'have it' 'compared to than, say, 90% of the playerbase. But..well.. that basically means "you don't suck" to be blunt. But it DOES mean you do get the right to actually ACHIEVE something impressive. You can go social and stream yourself and try to make a name that way. You can push the competitive ladder scene and try for top #1 legend. You can go the professional scene and start going to tournaments. That sort of thing.
So going to legend doesn't mean you ARE impressive, but it means you can start thinking of becoming impressive if you so wish to. If Ranked is like running a race, Legend is you actually starting to RUN in that race. Below that you are basically spectating, or running on the sidelines going "I'm so good, I know I can beat all these weaklings..you know if I actually cared to try."
(myself I'm at rank 14 playing healadin, so I'm sitting at home skipping out on the race and playing QWOP)
it's an achievement, yes, but prestigious ? Nah.. it's similar to the 12 wins arena or golden heroes in my eyes, nothing too special.
It only matters to you if you either have never reached Legend or only reached it once with a lot of struggle. For those good players, especially those who like to grind it every month, that means nothing.
There's no actual prestige in this game. It's just some awful RNG crapfest where people copy decks from sites like this to go stomping through casual games, where most matchups don't even need to be played to determine the winner, and where "Legend" just means you copied one of the two or three top tier decks and sat on your ass for enough hours to eventually have enough coinflips come up in your favor.
Achieving legend really just shows how much time you spend playing, I think nothing of it. If they ever add a card back for achieving legend as F2P, then that would be prestigious in my book, even if only for the commitment.
Midrange hunter requires just 1 legendary and 2 epics. It's 3000 dust.
I'm pretty sure Zoo can still be legend capable without Keleseth and Soularium and other than that the deck is literally commons and rares. The hard part is when you want o make an expensive control deck or when you want to experiment that things get stupid expensive.
I like how reddit marks it. Hearthstone isn't Pay to Win, it's Pay to Meme.
While there still needs to be some knowledge of the deck you play, as well as how the match-ups you'll face play out, legend will always be most influenced by time. it is mostly a grind and nothing more. If you can reach ranks 4-5 you can reach legend because the meta in those few ranks typically don't change drastically. I'm not about to label a grind as something prestigious, at least not in HS. Games like WoW have more significant grinds.
if you take legend with 60, 65 or better winrate you are fine. If you do with a hard deck, specially if it is tier 3 or lower, you are really good. Also if you take legend with 60% wr you take legend with half time than a 55% winrate. So you are good or a grinder only based on winrate not the cardback
It’s certainly an achievement that takes a little skill and some dedication. It requires a good amount of time to climb and has led many to be tilted as they bounce around ranks 1-5. You can get a little lucky and hit a win streak and knock it out quickly, but for most players that’s fairly rare.
Mira not the hardest thing to pull off but it certainly isn’t easy.
Depends. If you played broken decks like Odd Pala or Face Shaman not really. But if you played difficult decks like patron warrior or really anything that is not broken.(60%wr+ in the meta) then yeah I would say so.
It's admirable simply because the grind is just grueling af no matter what deck your playing. I've only hit Legend once and it was so exhausting that when I finally got the cardback I felt a sense of relief just as much as a sense of accomplishment. I think the Legend cardback is respectable as a sign of the grind but I don't think it makes you an insane player or anything.
Of course it's an accomplishment. The majority of the players cannot attain 25 more wins than losses from rank 5 to legend in a one month period (I'm aware a lot of people go with the "all it takes is time", but I'm very comfortable saying you can't until you do, and the majority don't).
As to "prestigious", I wouldn't go that far. I've finished top 200 legend 26 times, and the only finish I found prestigious was last year when I ended the month at 7th. But I'm trying to do the tournament thing. If you're a casual player and you ever see <300 or so legend, you're very good and should be proud.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
Ever tried to get a girl or somebody else impressed by sayin "hey, I am gud at playin pc, do you wanna hook up with me?" Is f***ing 200 girls an achievement?
It's your opinion and your decision how you rate it or everything...
It takes time, needs knowledge and you'll have to get your mindset in o.k.-shape...

F2P Legend really doesn't mean anything.. you can just dust everything to craft a tier 1 deck like Odd Paladin and get to Legend.. how is that prestigious ?
Well that is up to you. Personally, I dont find it that great of an achievment to reach legend. The same effort that you make to rank from 3 to 2, it takes from 1 to legend. So nothing special or prestigious for me. When you play enough and somewhat well, legend will come. The first time that I hit legend was to prove the above point, because I have argued many times about this with some friends. So if you mean it that way, it was somewhat prestigious because I proved a point.

Not everything in life revolves around whether it is going to get someone to fuck you. Also, context matters. The guy didn't ask if he would get a raise at work if he got to legend. He asked other people who play the same game he plays if its a prestigious achievement within the game.
I have a friend that played in the first ten seasons but stopped around Naxx. If he were to come back today and play no one would know the difference either way.
I will say it's an achievement to get it though. Back then it was more of skill but now I'd say it's still about skill but more about patience/discipline. I got it with pre-nerf Bonemare era Tempo Rogue.

They should add platinum heroes for 5k wins.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
