haha. finally, all those threads can stop. i'm personally glad. i'm sure they're going to put out Reno Jr., restore up to half your life total, rounded up or something like that. not to worry, reno lovers.
They are going to have to or the meta will be nothing but pirate warriors and shamans. I predict a 5 mana 3/5 restore 15 health reno.
inconsistent Reno trash is the reason these scumbag aggro decks are endemic. The best way to beat Reno, especially renolock, is to kill enemy in 5 turns.
so you say that if it wasnt for reno, you wouldn't be dead by turn 5 or 7? think again and stop saying BS
You do know that reno wasn't the single reason that the deck was strong right? They added kazakus/solia(or krul or raza) to make the reno archetype even stronger. Without reno, it doesn't fall apart. You will want healing cards teched in for sure just like your other control/aoe cards were always desired due to aoe/zoo/mass jades. People pretend Reno's the only reason those decks exist now and that's not true. He was the first of many. Will the next set/adventure have as many reno-like cards? Unlikely- but I wouldn't be surprised if more heals are added.
Glad to see them sticking to their guns and not caving to the complaining of people that Reno should move to the classic set.
The arguments about not having anti-aggro option when it rotates are weird to say the least. What people are really saying is that they do not want to adapt to a new way of handling aggro and acting like new cards don't get released. Is that really even an argument lol?
The fate of standars as it is now is to be a graveyard for half baked team9 ideas and a grinding place for people climb to legend. Also it wont matter that much. aggro hates midrange way more than they hate reno imo. And midrange will be there for sure in some variation.
Also new cards might just replace reno, after all Kazakus and crew would be in w weir spot if not supported anymore...but what did i say about half baked blizz concepts..they just might end up like Pirate rogue,Inspire mechanic, beast druid yaddayadda.
However i would prefer having a usefull heal cardf in the basic set. There are 0 otions for that and plz dont give me priestess of elune...
Basic set is flawed and it should just completely rotate out in my opinion.
For new players just make a classic/basic only game mode to finaly create something were they dont get slaughtered.
Actually retiring him is great for wild, because that leaves more room to create more highlander cards, eventually a really poweful highlander deck will emerge in wild.

Wild is 50% pirate warrior and shaman, my renolock has 25% winrate vs warrior and 40% vs shaman. Between the upcoming nerfs and additional reno cards, I hope this is enough to even the matchup and slow the meta.

I was just talking about this with a mate. If you think about it, highlander decks are almost certain to become dominating in Wild over time, because more really powerful highlanders cards will be added and the increasingly large cardpool makes it easier and easier to not run duplicates, because it'll be really easy to find alternatives for the cards that you'd desperately want to run two of in standard.
No more highlander cards to be released. So..... uh... fuck that entire archetype and everyone roll aggro?
The earth will probably stop spinning too. Oh you mean it doesn't and new things get released and people adapt. What a fascinating concept. Why are there so many scrubs on this site?

Yeah what idiots, wanting more things to be added instead of existing things constantly removed! Damn them!
I mean the only thing that made reno great was the comeback mechanic. We have to understand that Reno is a great card but it reduces the design space as Ooze and other cards do. We will most likely get another great heal when we get the spring expansion and I gotta have to say that I somehow miss the old duplicate control decks for warlock. People mostly either play renolock or zoolock but nothing else. This is exactly on why I think that it is fine to have some different directions. Maybe this will even mean a comeback for ancient watcher? I mean giving more options is totally fine for me. Let's just wait for the rotation before we go for any saltiness^^
Good thing Reno will be gone soon, he's one of the most oppressive card of the game.
He forces the metagame to be in a state where every aggro deck needs to be able to kill before turn 6, and every combo deck needs to be able to OTK consistently to survive.
This is a circluar arguement, as everything effects anything else, but do you really think that if Reno was removed that people wouldn't play the fastest aggro deck available? They always have, even before LOE (facehunter anyone??)

Not at all, in previous meta midrange shaman was the top dog and super fast aggro was dead, or you already forgot?
Reno promotes all in strategy for aggro decks in order to survive and kill before turn 6. Shamans not even running Doomhammer anymore is a clear sign of this.
Well hold on there a second, midrange shaman was 'still' a pretty aggressive deck with Trogg + Totem Golem starter. Its strength was the ability to get back after a board clear. and still push.

Hey there. PM me for my BNet ID and we can compare my scrub top 500 Standard legend rank (earned playing a tier 2/3 deck) against your surely high rank. ;)
The point isn't Reno leaving. The point is they introduced two very unique and powerful Legendaries to support an archetype that they are now going to give ZERO support to.
It's nonsensical. Why release Kazakus and Raza just to make them obsolete literally 3 months later? With zero support for the archetype you aren't given TOOLS to adapt, unless adapt means switch to a smorc deck.
And no, there will be no adapting for Highlander archetype decks with Reno gone and no further Highlander cards being released.

They specifically said they gave priest dragon support, intending for it to be dragon priest's last hurrah. Kinda like they're doing with the Highlander archetype maybe?

Good. There's already too many powerful cards part of the permanent standard sets, if anything they need to cut some, not add any.
They just need to add other interesting cards with this mechanic to keep the playstyle viable, but standard should always change, so it's good that Reno is leaving. People who say Reno is necessary to keep Kazakus, raza etc useful seem to forget that a new adventure comes out the same day Reno leaves. I'm positive that this set will have some replacement for Reno to keep the single-card decks viable.
I'm pretty sure it is going to be another full expansion not an adventure. Blizzard said they wanted to do one expansion in spring, an adventure in the summer, and an expansion in the winter.
So last year we got 2 new highlander cards added per class. Assuming they aren't going to recreate a powerful heal then we'd have to get a lot more than that to be competitive without reno. They'd have to create at least 1-2 new highlander cards per expansion on average. Personally I don't think this will happen, they'll just drop further support for highlander decks.

Were we ever tantalized with the prospect of Reno Jackson entering Classic? I don't think they're simply just going to move cards from set to set.
Howdy! [cardimg=gold ]Card Name[ /cardimg] (no space)
