Probably Ragnaros the Firelord. He was so good that Blizzard changed their entire design policy and on top of that created Hall of Fame to get of similar problematic cards from the Standard rotation :) And he is still being played in Wild, so yeah.
Sorry for the question, but I wasn't playing the game in that period and thus it's difficult for me to understand exactly how much that card was a problem.

I see plenty of countermeasures to it, but it's probably because we can say it was almost a different game in 2014
A 1 drop that require 1-2 specific cards from the enemy to get rid of it + the ability to snowball out of a win when not in check = a really good card. It's the reason Tunnel Trogg was so powerful.

I think the topic is about the actual cards and not the prenerfs ones.
If count the prenerf version then nothing is more powerful than Patches, when you see even priests forced to run the pirate pack you see nothing can be compared.
Ice Block, Caverns Below and Drakonid Operative all deserve a nod. Maybe none of them is the supreme best ever single card but all insanely overpowered.

agreed im still surprised they ever made a version of him with charge to begin with.
Patches the Pirate is definitely still one of the best cards in the game.
Genn Greymane and Baku the Mooneater are, without a doubt, the two strongest cards in the game right now, though. They got hall of famed prematurely for a damn good reason, and still terrorize wild.
Sunkeeper Tarim is probably one of the most underrated top tier cards.
i use tarim all the time and would agree hes one of the best. i never use baku bc of how much i prefer using him
If we have to count the cards as they stand today, thats a much harder question, there are cards that enabled a whole new set of archtypes such as reno etc. So their impact was certainly up there, but in terms of power-level I dont think they quite cut it.
I remember mysterious challenger secret paladin was horrifying, and still dominated wild for years after he rotated out due to cards like avenge.
I honestly think you have to count Baku up there as well, Odd paladin is just monstrous and is the number 1 deck in wild atm, not too mention the many other tier 1 decks Baku enabled.

Zombie Chow hands down. Best design, people thought it was crap at first, then it was in every deck.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
And this is the beauty of CCG's. There should be no 'best card'; it's just an opinion. This thread really shows that Hearthstone did a good job here.

Couldn't you just Shadow Word: Pain or Shadow Word: Death it? Or even use 2 mana Ironbeak Owl/Inner Rage + 1 mana Execute?

Class Creation Finalist: The Astromancer
Best cards vote by community:
Credit card, naturally
Wisp
There will be spoon.
Leeeeroy Jenkins.
any version.
The card i've gotten the single most use from in my set. Crafted it as my first legendary and I'm still putting it in decks now.
That's value.

Reno Jackson and Kazakus, always playing them since they release so crafted golden. Kabal courer also great.
Undertaker pre-nerf.

In rank 20 playing awful gimmick decks.
Patches the pirate. That card single-handedly dominated the meta for the time it was in standard. Every class was running the pirate package.
I'd say that the whole Reno stuff is #1
then Loatheb is #2 - i don't even know how many games in Wild i've either won or lost because of him
and Baku and Genn are #3
Tunnel Trog for sure!!! That card had the worst design possible for a wanna be balanced game!
Shifter Zerus and Chameleos of course.
My personal favourite is Fal'dorei Strider
Petition for Jaina's boobs to return please. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
