Lost to jeppeto maybe 8 times before I got. Grabbed hunter with mech list and just grabbed big stuff. Didn't even get the half cost passive, just an anomaly that gave 2 Mana crystals and 2 cards. I think I just got lucky, considering he misplayed, but big minions and cheat effects like Katherina are great
They typically nerf things when they are actually broken. Nothing in this expansion is destroying the meta like many other Nerf worthy decks. Bomb warrior is good, lackey rogue is good, neither are ruining the game. The best way to gauge that in my opinion is to check wild. Consistently the broken decks in standard will have a similar deck seeing play in wild, like odd pally, even shaman, odd rogue, quest rogue, mid-range shaman, big priest, and so on. Neither lackey or bomb warrior are viable in wild to they capacity of any of the aforementioned decks. With that in mind I don't see any of these cards getting a Nerf. The strongest by far is dynomatic, but it still isn't broken.
We have had worse balance in wild before, and I'd argue big priest is significantly more problematic than darkest hour. That deck is more cute than broken. Wild has had a population issue since it's inception, and this set won't change that, but this set won't kill it either.
Being the wild player I am, printing strong cards in shaman is scary. Because of year of the shaman, cards like tunnel trog, totem golem, crackle, and flamewreathed faceless are just ready to go build an aggro shaman with. I agree that they are in a terrible spot right now, but the reason they are hesitant is likely fear of messing it up like they did in 2016, as well as fear of aggro domination in wild. The class needs help for sure, but the way I see it is that they can’t print any strong cards that are even remotely playable in an aggro deck without wild getting messy. They have had to do that since whispers came out, and you can tell that they have micromanaged shaman a lot in the last few years. The jade cards are probably the last objectively good cards they got, and it was due to its flexibility. I loved playing meme shaman back in the day, and I got golden with it during a wild meta where control shaman was tier 1, but I have zero interest in dying on turn 4 to a consistent nut draw. It’s just biding it’s time, and if they print any strong cards that can fit in the deck, aggro shaman will gladly dump on the meta
Any midrange card is overrated for now. There really hasn’t been a prominent midrange deck in a long time now, with the closest thing being maybe dragon priest in some variants. More often is aggro, control, or combo, and often control is just combo anyway.
Overrated cards include:
dr. Boom
piloted shredder
anyfin can happen
justicar truehart
ironically n’zoth in some cases
naga sea witch
Reno Jackson (though this card is similar to n’zoth in the sense that the card is just good, but the meta has to be just right for it)
Mysterious challenger to a degree (more like pally is so busted there isn’t a need for secrets)
And flamewaker goes on the list for me as well. It’s just clunky now and the tempo swing doesn’t compete with other wild tier plays. I would argue that all of these cards are good, but are subjectively worse for the current meta than what people remember. I can see all of these except boom and flamewaker making a comeback at some point
Its objectively good, but in wild I would rather play loatheb most of the time. It may see play eventually there, but for now there isnt a need to have more than 1 loatheb in a deck, especially if it doesnt provide board presence.
If it had charge it might be playable in constructed, but hunter in its current form isnt going to get better in wild because of this card. It just doesnt compete with the other two drops available, even with the echo costs
I’ve been past the final tier for a while, but it is likely similar to how much I spent on magic the gathering as well. It’s completely dependent on your means and willingness to play, but hearthstone for me has provided so much joy in the past 5 years that I can’t think of a game I have played more, with second place being over 1000 in csgo. It’s just a good game, and Wild has provided me so much fun. Recently it’s been a bit tiring, but hearthstone is always there when I’m ready for it, and I own all of the cards anyway, so I’m not too worried
Whenever I play casual, its in wild, and its for completing a quest where I have to play some cards. Basically everything else can be done in ranked with ease. It is odd how many try hards are in casual trying the ranked decks against people who are clearly worse than them. I would attempt to let her try wild casual, as tier 1 decks are less common, with many more crazy control/combo decks taking prominence. Otherwise, I do not know what to tell you. By the way, depending the deck, you likely wouldnt have to craft more than a few commons or rares to get the wild version of the deck, so budget should not be much of a concern.
running only two mechs for blastmage seems counter-intuitive. I would recommend cutting that and the elemental package for either burn or more cheap card draw.

It's portable magic and doesn't require clicking ok 1,000 times a game. It's also just a lot of fun to combo off on people with jank

In wild big priest is actually insane, but in standard I'd say attempt silence priest if you really want a priest deck.

They changed her for Giants, and it's pushed control out of the meta. They need to revert to making Giants actually cost 5

A strong but not super toxic 1 drop for shaman? me gusta. I will probably play it in a control deck.
