I agree with the nerfs of raiding party and miscreant, but I don't like the nerf to Preparation. Yes, prep is limiting design of rogue spell in particular, but the time to nerf it would be when a set is released that take that nerf into account. Now they just butchered rogue for, i m o, no good reason. Rogue probably needed a nerf, I just think the nerf to prep was pre-mature.
I'm inclined to agree, at least for the most part.
What will most definitely happen is that there will be a lot less diversity of decks because you simply can't bring any deck that has auto-lose matchups. For instance quest rogue or mecha'thun lock in the current meta.
I think it's an interesting idea (although not at all original) to articficially allow for a sideboard, however I'm not so sure that the current system can support this in a way where it will make for interesting tournaments.
This might be ok against very slow control decks, but it gets completely shafted against anything else. It's ridiculously greedy to be frank, it's not anywhere close to being viable as is. At least 5 or so greed cards needs to go in order to stand any kind of chance against aggro and midrange.
There might be a reasonable deck where this card works, but it's way less obvious that this is good than most people seem to think.
Off the top of my head, it should only work well in a freeze mage-ish deck where you include Malygos, Archmage Antonidas and Alexstrasza (which equals 75% chance of reducing at least one of them to 1 mana and basically OTK). The problem is that you can't really get away with a 7 mana do nothing, especially not without Ice Block.
I honestly don't think this card is going to work out in standard.
I've never actually thought of using Violet Teacher in miracle rogue, instead relying on closing games out with Fal'dorei Strider and/or Leeroy Jenkins. I might have to actually give her a try, especially to help out with paladins. If you could play her followed by Preparation + Fan of Knives... Could be tough for them to come back actually.
Violet Teacher used to be a staple in miracle rogue, so it shouldn't be that surprising. I'm not all that convinced that it's good in the current meta though. Paladin should be dealt with quite easily with FoK and dagger, if you were to face a lot of pala. There aren't really any other token decks in the meta, and 1/1 tokens also aren't that good against the meta decks.
I'm doing perfectly fine with variants of tempo rogue and miracle rogue, they're definitely not tier 5. Taunt warrior actually seems decently strong as well for instance.
In any case, it's been 12 f**king hours since launch. No one has a single clue what the meta is going to look like a week from now.
neutral Shadow Word: Horror? I don't know, maybe ok in like some druid deck as a one-of. But if Corrupted Seer didn't see play, then this probably won't.
Corrupted seer was a Volcanic Potion + 3 mana for an additionnal 2/3 minion.
This is a shadow word horror + 2 mana for a 2/7 minion.
Is a 2/7 for 2 better than a 2/3 for 3 ? Yes, definitely. We can easily conclude that this is better than corrupted seer.
Will this see play outside of arena though ? Difficult to predict, very meta-dependant.
Mossy Horror counters dude pala fairly well, but nothing else really that currently exist. In the right meta it might see play, but I don't really see it tbh.
Seer didnt do damage to murlocs, wich was a popular decktype at the time it came out. And it saw a decent amount of play even so, especially in arena. Also, this one is a 2/7 not a 2/7 and it outright destroys rather than damage for 2 so....
And this doesn't even damage creatures with more than 2 attack so... If you want to point out pros and cons, do it in a manner that's not completely one-sided.

its playable but that 40% of you guys vote meta-defining is kinda irritating lol.
i can hardly think of any deck right now that wants to run all 3 things and curator had taunt as well and wasnt meta defining at all.
rather playable here and there but will most likely fall off to 1-2 decks after the first 2 weeks
The big difference is that very very few decks would ever want to run dragon, murloc and beast in the same deck. However, curator was so good that a couple of decks added cards that were only "decent" to be able to play it. This, on the other hand, should be readily playable in like a midrange paladin with very little effort.
Pretty sure the powerlevel is through the roof on this one. I can imagine several decks where this should pull 3 pretty consistently, and even if it pull 2, it's insane value.
If Fjola Lightbane didn't see play, then this most certainly won't. It really needed to have at least vanilla stats to even be considered. I really don't understand how most people don't see how bad this card is.
Yeah, good card for mage at the very least. I sort of doubt it'd be played in warlock though. It does work well with both Mortal Coil and Defile, so maybe as a one-of.. But as far as removal go, Siphon Soul is better for single target removal in general since you never rely on two card combos.

If there's a midrange/tempo warrior deck, then this will be a staple. 1 mana 1/2 draw a card, is very strong.
