posted a message on I am blind as a bat

I am old enough to remember Magic pre-release tournaments back in the days before spoilers. Not only was everyone reading the new cards for the first time together in a big hall, we then had to build decks and play a tournament with them.

Great days. The internet has brought a lot of good things but spoilers aren’t one of them.

Really good. I mean, "8/3" for 4 mana and heal 8? That's really good.

Claims like this have been a bugbear of mine since the early days of Hearthpwn. This card in no way should be considered to have 8 attack. At no point in its lifecycle can it deal 8 damage in a turn.

This spell is the Hearthstone equivalent of bacon.

    Tasty, particularly with eggs.

I am pretty high on this card. If it were a 1/1 Murloc which deals 2 damage to a minion as a battlecry we'd all be salivating at 2 mana.

Sure, it is a little less flexible than that but does benefit from some Beast synergies too.

posted a message on 1200 dust or a Golden Baku ?

I've crafted Golden Genn & Baku but am not dusting the regular copy because I have a feeling that it will be nerfed one day when it proves a problem in Wild.

I've been playing since Season Two so I can afford to take positions like these without compromising my ability to build other decks.

posted a message on Wild Growth and Fiery War Axe nerfs - when cards are class features

You hit the nail on the head.

War Axe did need a nerf, but adding the text "Cannot attack your opponent" would have been fine.

posted a message on New Mage Secret - Splitting Image

This card will be very influential as, assuming that it sees play somewhere, EVERY mage sectret which we see could potentially be Splitting Image.

This means that, unless your opponent offers you a weak minion as an alternative to test on, you'll be loathe to attack in to their more powerful minions.

In theory, Effigy would've had the same impact but that card :

    • Only triggered on death, rather than just an attack.
    • Summoned a random minion (same mana cost) rather than the same minion.

(Effigy had the one advantage that damage sources other than attacks could trigger it)

As is always the case, the presence of this secret in the card pool has the effect of improving EVERY secret as the opponent has to consider the possible effects of their attacks whenever a mage secret is in play.

    I vote Very Good.

posted a message on New Neutral Minion - Amani War Bear

    Underated, I'd say.

90% of the time, this will deal 5 damage to a minion, leaving a 5/x with taunt on the table where x is 7 minus the power of the minion which this killed.

That isn't so bad. It interracts at least twice with your opponent before your next turn and likely kills 2+ enemy minions, at least one of which you get to choose.

Of course, I'm not claiming that this will have a genuine impact on the meta, but it passes the test for expensive minions to impact the board from the moment that it is played.

posted a message on New Priest Spell - Surrender to Madness

So this costs 3 mana on turn 3, 3 mana on turn 4, another three on turn 5, three more on turns 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 followed by 2 mana on turn 11 and just 1 mana on turn 12.

    25 mana, right?

posted a message on Team One Trick - Open Lett

I can handle the fact that Wild may become degenerate over time but I am flabergasted by Blizzard's decision to release Juicy Psychmelon and Star Aligner.

I wouldn't mind if these cards had become relevant in Standard first but these two cards seem wholly intended for Wild and yet have ruined the format.

What on earth were Blizzard thinking? Or did they just fail to beta test their latest set in the Wild environment?
