"I am available from (3am to 9am)."
"Great you're hired!"
"...oh, crap. 'lol just kidding'?"
The irony here is that I put the exact times I would most busy during the day.

Don't be too worried, I believe the amount of time is more important than what time of the day that time period is. Although I would see it as an advantage if an applicant is prepared to moderate during more quiet periods (but that's less important in Fan Creations since you only have power over your own forum and I believe you can't even ban spambots if they don't spam there, could be wrong though).
I've received a few messages about getting the wrong timezone or not including it in the message. As long as you gave us a general area of where you're at, we'll figure it out. We try to keep a balance between the timezones so that we've always got people covering the site which means we'll without a doubt be pulling people from all areas of the planet, and multiple people at that. I also wouldn't mind a moon, mars, or ISS moderator, let me know if anyone is planning on settling there.
Frosty said that he thought we'd be bringing on somewhere around 5-7 people and he's correct, though I'd like to try and aim for a total of 10. Of course we may only bring on half those to start and bring on more a couple of days down the line to stagger people in to the role, it just depends on how crazy we want to make it at first :D. It's a lot of extra people we're going to be keeping an eye on while the new mods get integrated into the site, so you can see why we want to keep it sane.
Definitely going to be bringing people on this week so we're ready for BlizzCon and the chaotic card reveal season. I'm going to need to take a quick pass at some of our internal documentation to make sure everything is at least a C+.
And remember, we won't be able to bring everyone on even though I would love to. If you don't get in this time around, don't be discouraged - There's a good chance there was nothing wrong with your application and we just need to play the balancing game. When we open apps again, everyone is welcome to apply again if they're still interested.
I can't wait to start reviewing applications. Get them in while you still can! If you've delayed your app, Monday should be the absolute latest you want to get em in.
I do think there's a good chance that we'll have mod apps open up again for a sixth round of recruitment come the new year, or possible before then. It all depends on how many people flake out and what kind of a demand we need on the site. It's also important that everyone feels like they're actively contributing to their moderator role otherwise people may get bored with nothing to do and then end up getting out of their groove with certain duties.
I was feeling bad because I don't have time for modding (work and my own projects are killing me) but boy, makes me so happy that a lot of cool people applied.
This forum deserves this love in special the Fan Creations one, that place is like a shelter from salty Hearthstone players comments. It's rare to find a forum without bad comments or people hating each other and I really appreciate that calm.
Never, ever feel bad about it! Contributing to the community itself as you've been doing for over a year now also helps out a ton with the site. Regular contributors help us grow and bring in others, which in turn gives us all something to moderate and wave the ban hammer at =D
I know I've said this in the past, but I would like to clean things up more on the forums. It would be so much nicer if people weren't being jerks all the time. It'll take a lot of conditioning but if we can keep our rules straight forward, everyone will learn and we'll end up being better off for it.
I know right! I'm glad that the mods have so many willing helpers for the site! Seems like it runs smoother and smoother every time with is great.
That's the plan! I'd be lost without our mod team; They truly do a wonderful job at helping me find stuff, keeping the site clean of spam and jerks, and all the other awesome stuff. Getting more on board is going to be epic.
Good luck to everybody who applied for mod status. I personally find it very exciting to be seeing some new faces on the moderation team, regardless of whether or not I get accepted myself. These people do an excellent job at keeping the forums clean and I think we should all be appreciative of them for all that they do for us.
This is an amazing opportunity and I want to thank Flux and all the staff team for giving us the opportunity to join you in your amazing work.
Do you think you have what it takes to join our awesome mod team? Applications are still open! My lawyer advised me not to mention the possibly non-existing cake that awaits new mods so I won't be doing that this time.

"So I can mod myself for funny asides."

Shitposting is an integral part of moderator duties. I think it's mentioned in one of our moderator guidebook-threads...or was it that I skipped them all and started moderating my way...

If I submit an application, and I quote you on that for my "why I want to" section, you'll back me on it...right? lol D:
Actually having trouble articulating the "why". I know the answer in my head; just can't seem to translate that into real words >_>

Seeing this thread made me nostalgic for a couple of other forums I used to go to where I was elected to become a moderator. Granted, both of them were smaller than this forum and they've both been inactive for years (one of them straight up doesn't exist anymore), but it was still an incredible honor to be chosen from among some pretty incredible candidates.
As cool as it would be to enter the running again, I'm afraid I can't commit to this in the long term. Being a guiding hand to steer discussion in a healthy direction and a lot of the other moderation duties require a nuance and speed that I've since lost touch with since my more active forum days, and I can't say I'm as passionate about Hearthstone as I'd likely need to be. All I can say is good luck to everyone looking to wear the mantle and remember that respect is key in every aspect of the job. Not just for the community and those over you, but also the individuals that compose the community and the position itself.
I think that the main problem with this forum is the banned people that comes from Reddit. When Reddit sends its people, they're not sending their best... They are bringing flaming. They are bringing harrasment. They're trolls. And some, I assume, are good people.

Quoting me will definitely get my support (but I can't guarantee my support would matter that much). In case you are intending to apply for global mod, mentioning willingness to help with decklists should get a wider support (just submitted DreamHack's top16 decks to the site, it took me 3 hours or so...helping with that will be appreciated). In case you are intending to apply for Fan Creations, you should tell Shadows how you've always loved turtles, those noble and intelligent creatures.

Most trolls don't last very long here. We've actually got tools to deal with them whereas reddit moderation blows for tackling those kind of problems. We definitely have our share of losers though.

Just wanted to add yet another vote in favor of Cogito for the Fan Creations forum.
