When it was introduced and shortly after, it wasn't considered too strong, mainly as the options for mechs were limited. However, the recent card additions and synergy options have made it currently very strong - this is in large part due to Zilliax and SN1P-SN4P, who's combination of Magnetic with their other keywords makes them pretty much auto includes in most if not all mech decks.
Yes, there are some other strong Magnetic combinations, but I think these two cards are possibly the strongest - their usage stats are exceptionally high compared to most other cards.
Silence is strong against magnetic minions. If they go all in on a minion and you spellbreaker it, you basically had a x for 1.
Vicious Syndicate proposes mage and shaman against mech Paladin and midrange hunter (which I suppose comprises mechs since there doesn't seem to be a mech hunter in VS). And rogue seems to be balanced.
Magnetic is strong, but silence and transform destroy it so utterly that there is no reason to nerf it.
If you don't like facing a certain archetype, you need to do some research and find out how to beat it before yelling for nerfs.
Nerfs aren't a popularity contest. They happen because the counterplay to a certain card or archetype is so niche, so difficult or even impossible for the majority of decks to pull off, that the archetype in question becomes oppressive.
Heavily magnetic decks aren't oppressive and never will be, because any deck can add silence.

just run silences, just like aggro decks have counters in taunts and board clears and combo decks have counters in whatever dirty rat and hecklebot are called, control decks also need counters
Only OP if there isn't a counter to it. Mechs have quite a few counters and the best of all is silence which just ruins any player using magnetize as a win condition. Most concede when their built up mech turns into a 1/1 with no deathrattle.
Magnetize is one of the easier synergies to deal with as they are all in one built up minion. So many cards just destroyed by a click of a silence.
Remember last year when people were complaining how bad magnetic was and making fun of the fact that only magnetic minion that saw play was Zilliax. Now people are demanding for nerfs to magnetic LOL.

IMO this synergies are totally broken, control decks cant handle this effectively
Maybe kinda salty thread but which non - magnetic decks have positive winratio vs this decks?
Control shaman
Yes, it's a mechanic for brainless people.
I'm sorry for my bad english :D
You people will come up with literally ANY reason just to have something to whine about on the forums.
job's done.
Wargear and zilliax are the only cards really close to problematic I'd say. And a control deck should be the most capable of handling those two.
