I mean, no offense meant towards the OP buuuut if we're gonna petition new classes to be added in I'd rather we get the Pandas/Monks first. After Frozen Throne I'm good on death knight cards for a while. Lich King was awesome and I'm glad he wasn't nerfed because he was literally used in any deck and got decent value, and that argument has been used to murder more than one card in the past.
But yeah you'd basically have to add in more than 1 new class to the game to keep it balanced but no, I don't think death knight should be one of them.
^ Lich king, nerfed? not even close.. that card is strong but never really broken.
You can try to implement a new class it is called druid, druid was once a class in hearthstone but now it's no longer a class before even thinking about another class that one should be reintroduced.
Eh, I really don't think we need a full death knight class cause keeping the existing 9 classes fun, balanced, and distinct is hard enough.
However, I think it'd be cool if they made more hero cards for all the classes for Monk and Demon Hunter (I.e. What if all the classes became panda monks?), since the Death Knight hero cards were really cool.
It isn't possible. The expense involved in updating the UI, creating and balancing basic and classic cards, how established players get those cards, the inconsistency of old adventures and PVE, it is insurmountable in a F2P game. It's not like they would even come close to increasing sales enough to cover the colossal NRE the effort would entail.

Because currently there's 81 different matchups to consider when balancing the game.
Add a tenth hero and you are looking at 100 different matchups.
Folks can state their memes all you want but the fact of the matter is this... adding another class to the game at this point would be an horrendously stupid idea. We got the different Death Knight-Hero cards because of this exact reason; so we can have a Death Knight-spin on the classes so we effectively get the Death Knight class into the game.
This has been confirmed by Blizzard on multiple occasions and it doesn't take much to find any of these posts if you google it.
What we might however get in the far-future would be Monk-hero cards, whether it's one'a'piece or a focus on someone like Chen Stormstout for the expansion and one class gets it ... who knows? Same thing goes with Demon Hunters. Not to mention that there's a near infinite number of things that they could do that doesn't exist in the established Warcraft universe for classes.
Heck maybe they one day decide that we are going to have another exploration-expansion and we get to don some explorer clothes and join folks like Elise Starseeker once more.
But no, we will NEVER see a new class if the Hearthstone team have the game's best intention at heart and... here's where folks who meme too much will disagree: they do have the game's best intentions at heart.
Dude I think you potatoed the math part. It should be 72 and 90.

I would rather they just print one hero card for each class per year, all in the same expansion. Or better yet, stop printing them altogether. It's cliched to complain about at this point, but Hunter is particularly annoying with two heroes that are playable in the same matchup (I've yet to see somebody play both of the Shaman and Warrior portraits in a matchup).

You both potatoed the math. There are currently 45 different class matchups to consider, and adding another class would make it 55. A simple way to see why neither of you were correct - adding another class (eg Death Knight) would only add 10 more matchups: DK vs the 9 existing classes, and DK vs itself.
Having said that, it doesn't really matter. As much as I love designing new classes and seeing other people design new classes, actually implementing them in the game is a logistical nightmare, both in balancing the game and in distributing the cards. I would never completely rule it out, but I think it'd be nigh-on impossible to do correctly.
I've wanted Death Knight to be a hero class ever since Hearthstone was created. Does anyone else like that idea?
How would the class be designed? Who would be the hero?
My idea would be Hero Power: Summon 1/1 Ghoul with Lifesteal and Rush that dies at the end of the turn. Costs 2 Mana and 1 Health.
The deck could be centered around minions that with little HP/Die at the end of the turn?
Would love to hear other ideas.
To create more interest in the game I guess?
NO
At this point, it's pretty obvious it's never going to happen.
Yeah. Give up man.

I do think it’s opens an opportunity for blizzard to print another wave of hero cards beyond the 1 per set we’ve Been getting

I highly doubt it's possible to implement a new class at this point, seeing how they haven't been able to balance the existing 9 yet.
I've been asking for a moonkin hero card since the first expansion.

it would be nice breath of fresh air but as said before... this game will not see a new class ever.
that's a worse idea than potato flavored lemonade but above posters already explained why.

I could. See another wave of hero cards potentially monk/pandarian/Sha related.
Depending on the next expansion, if it is maybe centered in the plague (e.g: the western Plaguelands) it may be.
Dude I think you potatoed the math part. It should be 72 and 90.
Ready for action
LOL...
Do you work for Blizzard or what?
