Happy Season Finale, Everyone!
Wow, it sure has been a long and glorious 20+ weeks, but we've finally reached the end of the second season of our competition, and although there have been some rocky times, I hope it's been as positive an overall experience for you all as it has been for me and the other mods. As we did for the Season 1 finale, you'll see below a list of all of this season's winners (our few Special Edition competitions excluded). As usual, you're to vote for as many or as few as you like, and at the end we'll be crowning our Season Champion. Unlike a normal WCDC poll, results will not be visible until after the voting period has concluded. The Season 2 Champion Poll will end on 19/November at 18:00 UTC.
But wait! There's more!
In addition to this Finale Poll and the "LoE and Behold" competition that will be running through the duration of the Finale, we have a few other special events that we'll be hosting over the next week or so: Mini-Competitions. Yes, we have three mini-competitions that we'll be running with the help of each of our three two-time competition winners. These competitions will have 24-hour submission windows, followed by short 2-hour up-voting periods and then 21- to 22-hour polls. Their themes will be a lot more restrictive than usual, themes that wouldn't make for great week-long competitions but might just be fun for shorter events.
Mini-Competition #1: Peculiar Pilots [Ended]
Mini-Competition #2: Sudden Death [Ended]
Mini-Competition #3: Aegwynn-er Takes All [Ended]

NOTE: Cards with a black border have additional material, like explanations or unique tokens, located in a spoiler at the bottom of the finalist gallery. They are listed alphabetically by the name of the finalist card.

Dr. Bloom
Druid of the Talon
Ethereal Drake
Shaman:
Healing Totem: 0/3. At the end of your turn, restore 2 Health to all friendly minions.
Searing Totem: 2/2.
Stoneclaw Totem: 0/4. Taunt.
Wrath of Air Totem: 0/2. Spell Damage +2
Just a heads up, the second Illiterate Hero should say Forbidden Knowledge.
Siras Terra, the Geomancer
Doing my civic duty. By the way, what is this Behold Competition?
Rain of arrows and Moon Priestess are my favourites :)
I'll be voting for Durotan, mainly because I got second in that competition and feel like he was a worthy rival.
Give a man a Murloc, and he'll eat for a day.
Give him a Murloc Knight, and people will hate him.
Rain of Arrows and Ebb and Flow, those could very well be real cards because of their flavor in both the art/card effect and flavor regarding the art/text relationship
mfw his Yogg steals my win
Fixed, apologies.
To me THIS poll should be entirely about how well the card is an embodiment of that week's theme. Normally I have balance first and foremost, next to play-ability, correct wording and creativity, but unlike the weekly finalists poll, it should be first and foremost about flavor and the design of the effect in regards to that rules week imo.
That is why Level Up is an obvious winner to me. When I saw it (and unfortunately was on the same submission page), I knew already that it's going to win that week, because it's designed so flavorful. The translation of the Level Up mechanism from World of Warcraft into the effect and the art is just incredibly well done. It's also just a great incarnation of the "neutral spell theme". It might be slightly too good, but that's only a pet peeve. I really like some other winners as well (like Volley and Eye of Kilrogg), but those are only runners up.
I think Aluna, Stonelash Scorpid, and Dr. Bloom are the best. Those were the only weeks when my favorite card won.

Check out my Worgen Class in the Class Competition
Quick note on the mini-competitions: Please keep at least a 24-hour voting window. Otherwise, people like me in a very different time (Japan, Australia etc.) zone will likely not be able to vote. For example, 17-19 UTC is 2-4 am over here. I's rather be sleeping, thanks.
If Giantslayer was called Ambush, I'd probably upvote it.
None of the rest are interesting at all.
Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
Actually, I'll just do a quick rundown. I'm being harsher than usual because these are supposed to be finalists, as in cards that are really well made.
Aluna: Very meh feeling, and a combo cards for cards that rely on not being comboed (The whole idea is that you don't combo without a hand) is just plain backwards.
Stonelash Scorpion: Better than Aluna. I like the idea of it coming out of Shredder and you filling up the Mage's hand with useless cards. Not interesting enough, but good flavour.
Level Up!: Nope. That's not leveling up. Nor is it remotely balanced.
Earthquake: We already got Elemental Destruction.
Voodoo Doll: I get that it's a Demon to be used with Demonheart and Demonfire, but it's a doll, not a demon. Also very very slow, turn 4 to get a 2/3 and deal 2 damage to a random enemy minion isn't going to cut it, and with 1 Health, it isn't going to live as a 2-drop.
Dr. Bloom: Good pun. Reverse Dr. Boom idea is neat, but also just looks really lazy.
Nexus Stalker: Cool concept. A bit too good though. 3/2 or 4/1 stats would make it more manageable.
Moon Priestess: This one is actually rather well made. Too bad it's a Druid card so I can't vote for it.
Will 'o Wisp: Not a minion. Not even remotely balanced either.
Druid of the Talon: It's like Stoneskin Gargoyle, but it doesn't even retain the buffs you give it, so basically it's only use as a psuedo-immortal card is to make Druid's combo even more impossible to deal with.
Durotan: It's cool and all, but this is basically just a 7-mana deal 7, or a 9 mana deal 14 with Windfury. I'd rather not a second class get Druid combo.
Ethereal Drake: The fact that it has Enrage means a good portion of the classes in the game wouldn't be able to make much use of it. Also, as Justicar proves, most classes just don't want a better version of their crappy hero power. I'll ignore that Justicar exists because this card was made before it, but it's basically just a 5 mana 5/5 with 9 token hero powers around to make it seem more impressive than it is.
Eye of Kilrogg: Cool, but I don't like the idea of a card that flips the whole point of card games around.
Giantslayer: Why would you name it this, when almost none of the cards with >5 Health are Giants?
Illiterate Hero: Suffers from MC Syndrome in that the rest of the deck has to suck, except that the cards that this guy needs sucks even more than the cards MC needs. The dream would be to drop this on turn 8 with a bunch of Chillwinds and whatever... except you'd never have made it to that stage with so many vanilla monsters in your deck. No reason why he can't have 8/8 stats.
Forbidden Knowledge: Counterspell exists, and Spellbender exists.
Volley: This is best used against 2 3-health minions, but considering how a card that deals with board flood is countered by even heavier board flood... why?
Ebb and Flow: Very clever concept. I don't like how it's ~useless half the time and only above average the rest of the time. The numbers could easily be 5 and 5, or even 6 and 6.
Rain of Arrows: So it's an 8-mana deal 8 to the face, discard your hand, summon 3 pieces of crap. I actually like this one, but the Arena player in me knows that I'll hate this thing like no other.
Ogre Knight: Inspire effects don't get to target anything, and it's really not that amazing a card even if it worked in game.
Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
Then it should be worded it as such.
Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
Dr. Bloom and Will-o Wisp get my vote but there isn't really anything too fancy. Some the rest are obviously made for certain challenges and not really applicable as cards on their own.
The first of the Mini Competitions are up! Head over here to check it out.
