Youll get a free minion space! It obviosly wont work out. It wont unless the effects trigger.Yet you dont even trigger the battlecry it will just be useless.
if this can be silenced to attack i will be quitting the game.
It is not a minion when it comes on the board. It is dormant like a Sherazin, Seed and it will only be triggered by the Darkness Candle . Do you really think they make a 20/20 for 4 mana that just had to be silenced to attack? Even Blizzard can see that that would not make the game better.
So I keep going back and forth on this... Its cool and a 20/20 for 4 mana BUT its REALLY slow (and always worthless against aggro and midrange)... its strong against control matchups (especially with classes that have a lot of card draw like Druid, Razakus, etc) BUT is super susceptible to singe removal (and there is a ton, especially in priest and warlock)... it really hurts Razakus decks BUT only if you play it before Raza the Chained comes out and then only until the second candle trips (its like a temporary and worse Skulking Geist)
I just don't think there is good reason to run this card competitively. I am sure we will see it A TON for a week or two and if I open it, I'm going to try and make this work... but I don't see a reason to craft this, except for the memes.
I think you mean buff. If The Darkness is summoned (or recruited) the battlecry won't trigger, and it's the battlecry that makes it go dormant. So if Sneed triggers and this guy shows up, Sneed just gave you a 20/20 minion.
This is also a big buff to any Big deck. Because Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound will also bring it out to your board as a 20/20.
Read it again.
"Starts dormant. Battlecry: ....."
There is literally no way to put this into play without it being dormant, as there does not currently exist an effect that silences a card in your hand or deck. As soon as it hits the board, the dormant status is active, THEN the battlecry triggers.
Yeah, I noticed that right after I clicked to submit the comment. Edited it. That's kind of shitty, but I guess it's needed to ensure Y'shaarj, Sneed, recruit, etc don't end up landing you a huge minion for cheap/free.
That means it's also a nerf to evolve on a 3-drop too.
It's real bad when it gets recruited or cheated out somehow actually. Cause now you got a something taking up a board slot on your board and no way to activate him cause you opponent has no candles, and no way to interact with him either. Dirty Ratthis guy and the opponent will be sad.
IMO this card will destroy Razakus from ever being played again,
just as much as Skukling Geist completely eradicated Jade Druid from being played.
so youre saying that the darkness doesnt stop razakus like people are saying
No, because you're not going to run a 4-drop one-of just to stop a deck that is only part of the meta and doesn't have a strong wr anyways, and as a one-of you won't even be able to play it on 4 in most cases....and it starts dormant so you're wasting your turn when you play it against anything that isn't Razakus. Unless the meta ends up being heavily control oriented (in which case, you won't even being playing The Darkness), can you really afford to do nothing on turn 4?
Even if this is run in every deck as a hard counter to Razakus....this merely delays it from happening, or at worst slows it down. Raza/Kazakus is inactive until you draw the 3 candles, but Priest can still cycle through their deck quickly to either draw them and then use SWD on The Darkness, or just ignore it and play SRA anyways and still slowly gun you down.
Maybe The Darkness makes Razakus a bit more fair, but I don't think it will stop it from being played.
edit: Must make a correction, just TWO of the candles need to be drawn in order for Raza/Kazakus to be active again, not three.
I agree that Darkness is not hard counter and doesn't fit any single deck. Priest need to draw 2 candles and then he can play kazakus/raza again. I think Darkness can fit nicely decks which are running Dirty Rat, as you can more easily take one of key card before it was played.
Also it may fit tempo decks with good early game, to prevent kazakus removal or early 0 heal+large body, however I'm not completely sure that Darkness will fit tempo for any other MU's
It's amazing how at page 25, people still going with "silence it" or "recruit it". No surprise that HS community is pretty ridicolous if so many people can't understand four lines of simple text.
Anyway this card will not counter Razakus, just slow it down. Considering that in lots of matchups the deck will almost go to fatigue this means that probably it won't work as a total counter but just as a soft one. As other tech cards it will be a dead draw in any other situation, too slow versus aggro and mirange and the minion itself is subjected to hard removal so also control can deal with it once awakened.

If it works that way, this card is broken in so many ways that it can't realistically work that way. Recruit? Dirty rat? Big? Doesn't parse that way to me, as "starts Dormant" is above the battlecry text, and not part of it.
I realized that almost immediately after posting and edited to adjust my comment. But yes, without that language outside the battlecry it would be insta-include in any recruit/big/rez deck and eventually get this text added as a nerf.
Also found out today that the candles don't autocast if you mill them, so my initial thoughts on a Mill Rogue with this and Fal'dorei Strider may need some adjustments. In the deck build and strategy...
Don't know if it's been mentioned (in 26 pages...) but isn't the problem with running this in a mill deck that overdrawn cards don't count as being drawn?
So if you make your opponent overdraw one of the 3 candles, this thing never awakes? Plus you have helped them with giving them 3 extra cards?
How, on page 25, do we still have people suggesting this could be Evolved into or Silenced or Recruited or Twisting Nether'd or ANYTHING. Sherazin has been out for so long, we know how this mechanic works.
Only question I have about this would be does the candle force you to spend mana to cast the card. The wording of the card differs from Beneath the grounds as in that card cites "when drawn" while darkness candle cites "cast this".
Sorry if already answered somewhere in the thread - at work and cannot dig thru 520 posts to see if someone answered this already.

If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
We get it Blizzard; Purify is not a joke.
Edit: Oh wait; if it's like the plant and can't be silenced it's probobly unusable.

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?
Hello Nat, the Darkfisher after a Murmuring Elemental + The Darkness combo, and Coldlight Oracle (+ Murmuring Elemental) for helping all of this.

That's legitimately a neat idea. Remains to be seen if it'll be just a power boost to mill or real decks can use it :P
Would Twisting Nether remove this before it triggers?
I'm gonna craft it gold. HI RAZAKUS.

Too bad, that might have made it a little easier to see play since it could gimp your opponent's turn at a key moment with some luck.
