Any of the dreamers over here considered how meta-defining this card looks if you couldn't play any elementals on turn 8? Lord of the Arena sends his greetings...
I'm actually slowly coming around to this card, though I still don't think it's phenomenal. In a world where Shaman can produce a threatening elemental each turn it's actually arguable they could exhaust their opponent's removal and finally be able to drop Ozruk and have him stick. We also still have Therazane left to see, as well as whatever other Elementals they decided to print for Shaman.
I've bumped my vote up to "Playable", since until we see the rest of the set I think there are legitimate arguments to be made for it.

Articles I suggest every player reads to improve at the game;
Though this card is very vulnerable to hard removal having a 5/15 or 5/20 stick can be game winning. Also taunt is a semi-immediate impact as your opponent can't just ignore it and go face.
This card reminds me of Thing From Below which costs 0-3 most of the time. So the battlecry has to be worth 6 - 9 mana by itself. For 6 - 9 mana you can play Ysera, Sylvanas etc. In comparison this card is trash.
But if you try hard and win only one game because of this card, it will be a very cool. Fun Card, but probably not playable besides tavern brawl and adventures.

The downside (potential tempo loss) is far too great with Ozruk, and Soggoth doesn't carry that risk.
You'll admit that the upside is far greater though? I 100% agree the downside to the card is huge and will probably result in it being in only the most niche decks, but there is some serious upside that Soggoth certainly can't match.
could be a 5/900 it still wont matter, it'll be eaten by death silence or never get played as the player will be dead turns before.
Yes and no; while I think there are diminishing returns on how much health a minion has, like I said earlier I think you can pretty easily work around this. Think of it like when you built a deck when BGH was still absolutely relevant; you either went all-in on a plan that wasn't punished by BGH by either bring zero or multiples of a card that were weak to it. You'd still get BGH'd, but your opponent would have to expend that on a single threat you played while you had follow ups.
Now realize that Ozruk is going to synergize with some very beefy Shaman cards; Earth Elemental and Fire Elemental in particular. You're more than capable of running redundant threats that are going to require answers before Ozruk comes down, and I think that's why it's feasible to a certain extent. A Priest is going to want to Death all of those, and BGH/Silence are actually just ignored at this point so I'm not really anticipating that's going to change. If it does, welcome to tech cards? Ooze/Harrison hasn't stopped Pirate Warrior, once again it's just a matter of having more questions than they have answers.
I think the more relevant way to frame it at this point is less "what kills a 5/x with Taunt" and more "would a 5/x Taunt feasibly close out a game", and I think that's more the issue and why we'll need to see all of the Elemental tribal cards before that. I'd be shocked if Shaman didn't have both of its Legendaries work well with Elemental builds, and that might be enough to make Soggoth look legitimately unappealing in comparison.

Really liking this card, blizzard is showing they want to meta to slow down, i know i haven't seen the 100 cards yet to be revealed but with all of the taunts and late game cards seen so far, blizzard is showing that they care about slowing the game down.
Unplayable. Against Rush decks you're already dead by turn 9 and against Control it gets removed before it does anything.

Not to be a dick, but that's what i read people say about soggoth before the expansion :P

Who's the Beatdown?
Bad card, has way to many counters.
If nothing else, I like how his effect is based off the previous turn.
1. It rewards planning ahead rather than just dumping on curve.
2. It allows for predictive counter-plays from the opponent.
The card itself doesn't look that great, but I see some healthy potential in the mechanic.
Bad for the same reasons that almost every 8+ drops are bad on this game. And a conditional minion on top of it.
if only that battlecry ability added +5 health to the player, then he'd basically be an ele reno
Look like an 9 mana Ancient of War to me. Even if it get to 5/15, hard removal doesn't care. I prefer to play Soggoth the Slitherer than this.
haHAA Hex haHAA
Obvious crap legendary. A 9 mana card that does nothing the turn you play it and has not a single kind of protection can. not. be. good.
ever.

Seems far too risky to play a 9-Cost for a single body huge taunt. There's too much hard removal for this to be a consistant game-changer.
