This cart is playable, but not insane. Let's compare with a Brawl and possible interactions:
- With a Brawl you have a % to save one of your minion - Dirty Rat + Brawl is WAY better than Dirty Rat + Volcano. 6 volcano's damage is 'absorbed' by Rat, so this combo is almost unplayable. - Can't play Volcano if an enemy card as Acolyte of Pain is on board, as opposed to Brawl. Even with Enrage cards it's risky. - (obv) Volcano has a 2 overload; you can't go for a 6mana drop on the next turn if you don't unlock your mana crystals...
Maybe i'm going to run a 1x copy of it in a control shaman...atm there're better options
If you are playng control and you re playng against another control (without combos) you WANT to play volcano with acolyte on board. This card is also cool with patron
In WoW lore, ascendants are mortals that have been turned into elemental beings via a ritual. I would be really surprised if Hallazeal didn't get the tag.

Elemental destruction wasnt actually that geat because of large overload. Ive been playing that card for a long time and it really underperforms. This just looks way better.
If you give this spellpower will it upgrade each meteor or just add a new one? like is it going to be like arcane missiles that just adds a new missile or is it going to be like Greater arcane missiles that shoots 3 missiles that deal 4 damage?
It is going to be like arcane missile. Spellpower tweaks the damage value. Volcano only specifies one unit, a damage value, so that one will be increased by 1. Greater Arcane Missiles specifies two units, missiles and damage, and also here the damage value is increased.

Cool card. Usefulness will be highly dependent on the meta, but a somewhat versatile board clear is interesting. It abhors really large boards and has risks if there are more than 15 health in the board. But it can be thrown at one or two high health targets in a pinch.
It's a nice back up plan but I wouldn't count on it to win the game. 10 mana overload 2, restore 15 health deal 9 damage to enemy board.
Hopefully with the new elemental tag Hallazeal will see some play in the meta. All shaman legendaries have succeeded being well designed cards, but the strongest shaman decks never included any of them.

I've voted "Meta-Defining" since it really "defines the meta": enables a new kind of decks, Shaman Control.
If you have no minions, and your opponent has 2-3, Volcano is almost guaranteed to kill them all. If you've got some minions, but your opponent had just played some really tough monsters, you can try to destroy all of them except one or two with your creatures, and then kill the remaining fatties with Volcano.

Me too for the same reason. Devolve + Volcano could be very strong combo in upcoming meta if Control Shamy is a thing. Now with Healing Wave rotating out there is nothing to block running Eternal Sentinel in control. We'll see...
What does control shaman need? card draw. They have a bunch of good clears, healing and value already. Decks like control warrior used acolyte of pain to draw cards because they had access to great deal 1 damage effects like Ravaging Ghoul and Death's Bite. This card gives shaman an actual good way to activate acolyte of pain. Why hasnt this been talked about

I don't care if its not the best. Its a decent mass removal tool and the best part IT ISN'T STRAIGHT UP GAME BREAKING.
Shaman needs to be toned back down to everyone else's level. Hopefully the new Shammy cards aren't bad but aren't great either.

This kills 2-3 big minions(even if they have divine shield). So it can be better than ED sometimes.
Hallazeal the Ascended likes this card... if you can survive til turn 10
Hallazeal was not listed among the cards which gets the elemental tribe, so I am not sure if elemental ascendant counts among the elementals.

But you cant use brawl to remove 2 high health minions present on a board. And you cant use it as a single target removal neither.
