In addition, it is flexible, so if you have 10 mana, you can cast a minion, say BGH, then play this card to fill in that extra 6 mana.
Not at all. You can unstable portal on turn 10 and get a murloc tinyfin. You use this on turn 10 and you're guaranteed a 10 drop. Also Portal adds to hand. This summons.
If you add this card as a 1-2 drop it will probably be amazing. Yes the chances are high that it will be worse than another 2 drop but if you draw it in late game it is not a dead card. Against aggro decks, you often just want to get a minion down -> this card will do, against aggro you often waste your whole turn/mana anyway -> this card will be great.
This card won't be in every Priest deck I think but it is still a great tool. Great card, better than the Mage one.

This is the type of RNG they want, at face value it looks like random crap but like others have said, when you have a dead hand this thing is about as flexible as it gets. In theory it shouldn't ever be a dead card, you can play it turn two or turn 9 and have a decent idea of what to expect. Auctioneer would be interesting with it since it would summon a 1/1 Wisp plus draw a card (I think), it opens so many doors and opportunities.

Great expert analysis there. Is that Ustable Portal great when it gives you 1 and 2 drops that the discount is worthless for? Late game this card gives you a minion that has value late game, early game it can help your curve if you don't draw a minion on curve. It has way less RNG and flexability.
Even better, this let's you to be somewhat selective about what you are trying to get. We know there are a lot of bad 5 drops, so you can wait till turn 6. Maybe avoid turn 7 because you don't want AoW or AoL coming out of this. Or play it turn 8 and hope for Rag.
The important thing to me is this card guarantees you have late game if you are playing against control, but you can still put something on the board against aggro. The only thing that slightly sucks is you can't buff whatever minion you play to cycle for PWS or whatever.
This is the first card of the whole set I absolute hated.

Nope. UP gives u random cost minion and this card allows u to control mana cost of summoned minion. Deathwing without drawback? Hell Yeah!
Percentage wise Unstable Portal will have less drawbacks also it controls mana more then is card because of the discount in most cases. It's a Unstable Portal that offers no mana reduction and you can't use any of the played effects which in most cases is a bad thing and as a result on average will receive reduced value..So yes..It's a shitty Unstable Portal.
I actually think some of you are underrating the card.
Because the class is so reactive, Priest hero power passes more than any other class in the late game. That means this will most likely be played with 10 or 8 mana. Either way, there isn't a bad card in either slot.

I agree. They should NOT make these kind of cards. I would like to see more strategy cards not some random bullshit that helps you win the game.

Can it summon out-of-class cards? Would be sweet to get a 2 mana Totem Golem or 5 mana Earth Elemental with no drawback.

why would it discount it just summons it doesn't out in your hand
this card is better on turn 2-3 and 7+
so either curve out well or late game threat
i would never play this turn 4 and 5 where a lot of minions are stat wise below vanilla

Might see competitive play (seems like a more balanced Unstable Portal). Can't say for sure until we play with it.
Otherwise, it's great for the Randuin deck. It might even be better than Mindgames for that deck actually (jk gonna use both :D).
