I opened Raza today and my heart jumped from joy (I recently crafted Kazakus, Aya Blackpaw and N'Zoth to create Kripps N'Zoth Jade Shaman and was a bit scared to open either Kaza or Aya).
Anyhow, this inspired me to play some Reno priest. Since I don't own Twilight Guardian, Ysera etc. I wanted to try and fit C'thun into Reno Priest instead. It seemed like it might offer more consistency against aggro due to the additional heal from Twilight Darkmender. I added some additional heals (Mistress & Friendly Bartender) and although this means it's quite heavily teched against aggro, I feel I still have a fair chance against Midrange/Control, due to the nature of playing all the C'thun minions, value from Kazakus & Raza heals, and C'thun himself, + potential to do the Bran Doomcaller Combo.
The deck is a blast to play and I'd like to get some opinions from others on possible improvements and to hear about your experiences playing Reno Cthun Priest.
I briefly tried a cthun Reno raza deck in early January. Didn't work well at this time and again I just tried it briefly (3-4 matches). But I got the feeling that most of the cthun minions are just too underwhelming on their own. Sure darkmender and the twins are nice after two buffs and cthun himself is a good late play but idk. But i like the general idea of a cthun renoraza
I feel like with all the space the cthun cards would take in order for it to be effective up would hurt the deck more than help it. No harm in giving it a try though
I tried making a Dragon Reno C'thun with Raza and it was just way too much to fit in a deck, the big issue was lacking comeback mechanics.
I think maybe replacing the Dragon cards with boardclears, stall cards, and cycles would make the C'thun cards a lot more reliable. I'm going to try it out soon.
I feel it's working well, but it obviously plays differently than regular reno priest in that its less control and more tempo/value oriented (i think). Also, I'm only playing around rank 13 currently, but climbing. Probably not legend material, but anyway fun to play :)

Oh yeah, that sounds like it would be too much for one deck. You really need to have answers these days against board wipes or simply getting out-tempo'd. Not sure if you did include Kazakus? He is a great help. The 1 mana potion provides INSANE tempo usually. 5 Mana one is not too shabby either, 10 mana is only viable in control match-ups I feel (and even then it's sometimes better to pick 5 I feel).
Anyhow, I'd be interested to hear how it went and what your deck ended up looking like!
Cheers!
P.S Sorry for the double post, but completely missed this comment previously and also made an update to the deck & deck description in case anyone is interested. I'm seriously enjoying this deck a lot and really looking to understand it better and refine it :)

I agree, Kazakus is absolutely essential for his board clear abilities and ability to provide value against control. I've had terrible luck with not getting the choices I need from him lately but w/e.
I tried the Wild Pyro package and it was - as you suspected - unreliable. I'm gonna give it another shot and try some of the cards in your deck, I think some of the cheap removal options could help a lot.
I've updated the deck recently after reading the feedback in the comments (and being in the mood again to play this deck) and it feels more consistent now;

I've played a deck like this when trying to experiment with different variations of Reno Priest. Cards I really don't like in this list are Ragnaros the Firelord, Emperor Thaurissan, and Doomcaller. These choices are simply too greedy, especially with a 10-drop in your deck. I'd advise adding in a Crazed Worshipper (anti-aggression tool), Dragonfire Potion (best boardclear, better game versus other reno decks), and a Mistress of Mixtures (more anti-aggression).

I've actually been doing very well against aggro with this deck. The tougher match-ups are the games against midrange (jade) decks that just keep on filling the board. Ragnaros really helps bait out removal, so they won't have an answer against your C'thun. I agree that emperor + doomcaller is probably unnecessary though, as I've never got to play the combo yet (would only work against CW I guess). Crazed Worshipper seems like a bad card however, as it's essentially a Fen Creeper and I haven't had much issues activating my C'thun cards. I sadly don't own the card and am not really willing to spend 400 dust on it at the moment. Mistress of Mixtures I've found to be very underwhelming, but maybe I played her wrong? If I have her in my opening hand, I play her on turn 1, and there seems to be no benefit from the heal, as it gets killed of immediately. And later on in the game, her body is not impactful enough, if you even find the mana to play her. I'll definitely try out Dragonfire Potion though, as that would help with clearing the board against more midrangy decks. I've never really tried the card out, as I've seen a lot of streams where the opponent has an Azure Drake on the board. The fact that this doesn't kill Azure Drake is a pain in the butt. Luckily it's moving out of standard (huge buff to the card I think).
I'll take a look at what other card I want to put in instead of Emp & Doomcaller. Will be giving it a try and report back how it went :)
Raza the Chained is a pretty good card especially because it enables one of the coolest combo decks in the game. For those who don't know of it I will link it below.

Essentially, I found Doomcaller to be pretty useless and just sitting in my hand for most of the game. I like Crazed Worshipper NOT as a C'Thun activator, but more as a taunt with high health. Serves a similar purpose to that of Second-Rate Bruiser in Renolock. Priest 5-drop slot tends to be extremely tight, so if you were to exclude it then I'm sure it would be fine. Mistress of Mixtures is probably worse in this deck, definitely. Because the deck can curve out so well, you might not need the 2/2 body to help stabilize early on. You can think of it as like a second copy of Shadow Word: Pain, but only if you play it on curve. The value of it's heal is quite inconsequential in the mid/late game, so I could be wrong on that end. There's too much aggro at my rank on ladder, making me more privy to anti-aggro tech rather than late game value bombs.

Pretty cool idea! Not sure how successful it works but kudos for not conforming to what "works" in the current meta.
Cheers
Still not sure if I hate Hearthstone...or love it.

I've been playing Reno C'Thun (in casual) but my list looks a little different. I'll post it when I get home later.
