Hearthstone's Arena to Soon Receive Cool New Exclusive Cards, Temporarily
Blizzard has designed 27 new cards that could possibly be added only to the arena, and they are letting people at BlizzCon vote on which ones get added! All of this is taking place at the Q&A panel starting later today at 2:30 PM PDT (5:30 PM EDT, 10:30 PM CET).
- These cards are not from the new expansion.
- They will be added short term to the arena in an arena event.
- Each class has 3 cards, only 1 from each will make it in.
We'll be covering the panel live, so stay tuned for the results!
Quote from Mike DonaisWe have 27 new cards we’re considering adding to the Arena—come vote on which ones YOU think should go straight into the game! Then, join the Hearthstone development team for a Q&A session.
These are 27 new cards we designed just for this panel.
We will show 3 cards from a class and talk about them and then let the audience pick one to go into arena.
Do you mean as a theoretical exercise or are these cards that will actually get added to the game?
They will be added as a short term arena event in the future.

Ok, les sees that.
The cards chosen at Blizzcon by the audience:
Priest: Generous Spirit, 3 mana spell: give your opponent a friendly minion. Draw 3 cards.
Warrior: 3 mana 2/3 weapon, also damages minions next to the one you damage (like Scourgelord's weapon)
Mage: Polymorph:???, 5 mana spell: choose target minion. Discover a minion to transform it into.
Paladin: 1 mana secret: whenever your second minion dies this turn, resummon it.
Hunter: Deadeye Shot, 2 mana spell: For the rest of the game, your hero power can target minions.
Rogue: Smoke Bomb, 2 mana spell: Give a minion Stealth until your next turn. Draw a card. (can target enemy minions)
Shaman: Crackling Doom, 0 mana spell: Deal 12 damage to all minions. (Overload 10)
Druid: Nature's Champion, 3 mana spell: Return a friendly minion to your hand and give it +5/+5.
Warlock: Bottled Madness: 0 mana spell: Transform each card in your hand into a random demon.
The Warlock vote was extremely close, the other option was: From Beyond, 1 mana spell. Draw 3 cards. At the end of your turn, discard them.
It sounds like Deadeye Shot will be a big help to Hunter. That kind of removal with Hunter's hero power could be a big coverage factor for their general lack of board control. Generous Spirit is just a smack across the face to Treachery, and if you've got something like Bomb Squad to give to them it will be even better. With Crackling Doom, you really need to save it until the opponent has dumped their entire hand and is trying to go for the kill. Otherwise, you're stuck in a state of uselessness on the next turn and your opponent has the chance to just drop more threats that you won't be able to deal with unless you have another Crackling Doom. Bottled Madness sounds really good for Warlock because it allows you to turn a bad hand into a hand full of playable threats which, most of the time, will likely show good results. It will probably be better to play late game for Legendary demons like Lord Jaraxxus and Krul the Unshackled, plus high-cost powerhouses like Doomguard, Dread Infernal, Abyssal Enforcer and more that might appear during the next expansion. Warrior's weapon is good, Polymorph??? is RNG, and Nature's Champion could be seriously strong. I'm honestly a bit scared of Nature's Champion.
Pick Something Else: 1 mana spell
"If your opponent is a Mage or Rogue, add one loss to their record"
Hmmm.. They should have been posted the new arena cards by now. It seems our Flushflexer asked too many questuons and Blizzard security silenced him for good :(
10:30 PM CET is 4 hours from now, so the panel hasn't happened yet.
It would be nice if they added a separate button this time, so Arena players aren't forced to deal with super random BS and can just play the regular mode instead.
Arena is "super random BS", adding something new to the randomness is refreshing, and will make arena vets more interested.
No, it's not. You can be very consistent if you're decent. Something like dual-class Arena is super high-rolly. If you want to do that shit, that's fine, but let those who don't enjoy regular Arena. There is already TB for randomness.
Athanatov. I dont know how you can see drafting 1 of 3 random cards 30 times to build a deck as not being random...im genuinely shocked
BS part is relevant here. I mean that the RNG factor outweighs the skill factor, which is not the case in regular Arena.
Hopefully these arena exclusive cards have some in-draft effects like these:
Holy shitballs! Those rock! Not sure if manipulating the draft is something they can do, but if they could....
Great work, man. (or lady)
Man, these are dope! I bet these things have some awesome ratings on Hearthcards.com (or would if you don't have them posted on there.) Adding in cards like these would significantly increase the fun and strategy of arena by further encouraging synergistic decks. And god knows it can be hard enough already to make a synergistic deck just out of card selection RNG...
please no.
I appretiate the idea of such cards, but this is a hard no for me. It would completely destroy the drafing process and make it even more random/unfair, in terms of who would get to draft these cards and who wouldnt. You dont even consider any of these abilities to be worth anything, since all your cards have pretty much vanilla stats.
Im all for novelties, but touching the drafting process should be done gently and with care and consideration, this feels like brute force.
Some cards I like because they would enhance synergy picks, like the demon and the beast.
The rest serve no purpose other than distracting us from the normal drafting.
This are sh i t btw way too random of a concept
