posted a message on The "greetings" emote when you win the match (BM?)

People are so sensitive, it's unreal.  They even got rid of the 'Sorry' emote to cater to people like this.

Usually, if something crazy happens, like some amazing RNG (for or against me) I'll use the greetings emote.  Regardless of the reason the person is using it, even if it is just to BM you... who cares?  If it really offends you so much, start your game with a squelch.

Think about it.  People are getting upset that they're losing a game and someone hits an emote button.  I wonder how people like that function in everyday life.

Well, who can argue one player and a sample size of 14 games?  Clearly the deck must be busted...
Miracle Rogue was already killed once before, why do we need to do it again?  It's nice to see Rogue being competitive again.

I'm a 35 years old sales manager who is also a veteran WoW player and a casual HS player. I don't need/want a clickbaity thread.

I don't think that it was a selection bias but I also don't ignore the possiblity that I was just unlucky. I created this thread to see the feedbacks of other Reno Deck players and if they experienced a similar issue.
Nobody cares about those meaningless credentials.
Everyone here is absolutely right, your selective memory, anecdotal, incredibly small sample size of games is worthless.  Just the fact that you're saying the card was nerfed when the spell you need isn't available, even though every spell is situational is a pretty clear indication of your thought process.

You do realize that asking pro players that play 10-12 hours a day would be pretty dumb right? Sure they would say skill because they want to feel better about themselves, but like I said, they play 10-12 HOURS A DAY!! AKA T-I-M-E not skill

Do you think after playing something 10-12 hours a day, you'd get pretty good at it?
This thread is filled with people who have never been Legend or even tried to get Legend, yet are all experts on how difficult it is.  I guarantee once these people who complain about time being the only (or primary) factor, will find themselves stuck once they get past rank five.  Then after failing and the season ending will make the excuse, "Oh, I just didn't play enough, I ran out of time."
You have to seriously make an attempt to get to Legend before you can comment on what it takes to get there.  Otherwise, it's just excuses and speculation.

posted a message on Should there be a way to play against decks without certain cards?

It's just unrealistic to implement.  Imagine the queue times and how hard it would be to find a match that specifically matches your criteria.

You basically want to cater a match to avoid a bunch of cards in the game or decks that you just don't like.  Why can't you have fun just by playing whatever deck you want?  Who cares what the other person brings to the table?  It casual, so if you don't like it you can just concede and re-queue.

I do think something like a lobby system would be interesting, Hearthstone right now is a pretty impersonal game.  Really, your problem is solved by having some friends to play against.

I have friends in game who get to play MUCH more than I do that HAVE hit legend.  And when I play against them...I STILL win over 50% of the time.  So know your roll and shut your mouth troll.
Except that's irrelevant.  You've never hit Legend.  Nobody cares about what win rate you have against your friends.
You're saying you're readily capable of doing something that you've never done and never tried.  Do you understand how ridiculous that is?

I would say 90% of it is time and the other 10% skill.  For example I've started tracking on a daily basis my win/loss ratio and find that I'm hit 56-57% winrate almost every day.  Well above what's considered necessary to reach legend.  However I end up between ranks 8-11 because most days I have only about 8-9 games played or so because of long work days (and I watch a lotta tv lol).

So yes time is THE most import factor as right now on hitting legend under the current ladder system.  We'll see when they revamp the ladder to see if the weight of skill comes into factor more than that 10% it is now.

Yeah, except you're tracking your win rate at ranks 8-11.  How do you know you'll maintain that once you hit rank 5 and your win streak goes away?  You're another example of someone saying, "Oh I'm good enough to do it, I just don't have the time."
You have no idea if you can do it, because you never have or even tried.

I would definitely agree that time is a big factor.
I've played HS now since it was released and usually attain around an 80-90% win rate.

But that said, I only really get to play about half an hour a night or so, so the chances of grinding my way up to Legendary ranks is pretty low for the most part. (Mostly as I tend to get bored after a while - or have to quit if the games get a bit too intense (I'm pretty competitive! Heh!))

If you consistently have an 80-90% winrate, you're higher than the top pros in Hearthstone.  Sorry, but I don't believe you.
combine: 80% win rate with : 'play for only a half an hour'
result: he plays at a skill/deck quality above his current rank but never actually plays long enough to actually rank up.
I'm in a similar boat.  When I actually TRY to rank up, I hit rank 5 without too much difficulty (never actually tried to push for legend) and win just about all of my games.  Thus my skill level is at least rank 5.  However, I almost never get any real time to play more than a few games at a time and I tend to goof around with silly decks and quickly leave alone decks that 'work so I'm almost always sitting at rank 20-15.  Thus when I play a deck that's not absolute garbate I get around 70%+ win rates but never move much past rank 15 due to the sheer lack of games.
The pros boast about a 55-60% rate.. in upper legend.  At rank 15 it's pretty much 90%+ given whenever I see one of them actually trying to climb.
Context is always key to numbers.
You're absolutely right, I should have added the disclaimer about barely playing at lower ranks.  Then yes, you can have a high win rate.  I was more speaking to the point that his numbers are BS, because he's exaggerating them or they're meaningless.
I've seen a large trend of people in threads like this and in general who use time as the primary excuse for not hitting Legend and ignore the skill aspect.  "Oh I could absolutely hit Legend, I just don't play enough."
It sounds a lot like The Fox and the Grapes to me.  Unless you've actually made it to Legend, you can't say that you could.  People are just downplaying an achievement because they've never done it.

Time is definitely a factor when it comes to grinding to Legend, but I wouldn't equate Rank 15 players with the same skill level at all.

I think once you are able to hit Rank 5 and higher, time is the biggest factor which is going to separate you from Legend.  The difference being that once you hit Rank 5 and higher, mistakes are immediately punished and the misplays are non-existent or greatly reduced.  I think that once you hit that point you're really going to learn how good you actually are at Hearthstone.

I suppose any deck is boring and low skill. Freeze Mage is so easy and boring, it's just wait for Alexstrasza and cast spells.

Exactly. Wait for Alex and cast spells is boring. There are some cards though never see play like Moat Lurker - expensive. Imagine what it would do to board play (where creativity takes place. Indeed face -, charge damage, spell damage and weapons damage have a huge negative impact on creative gaming) if this card was cheaper. It would enhance creativity, like now dirty rat does.

That was a joke, Freeze Mage is widely agreed to be the most difficult deck in the game...
I've seen some interesting plays with Moat Lurker, you can find compilation videos on YouTube of it.  But I don't really get what you're on about.  Build your own creative, interesting and fun decks and play them if that's your thing.  You seem to be quite the self-proclaimed expert on the subject.  I'm sure you'll redefine the meta.
In fact, let's see what creative decks you've made and shared with Hearthpwn.com.  Oh wait... none.

Concur with the OP. Those "cool new decks" and mechanics can be labeled in terms of skill and creativity. Looking at the win condition one can get a taste of the measure of staleness and boredom.

    1. Jade-mechanic: Low skill, low creativity: wait till you are beyond opponents removal range. Tempo does the rest - boring
    2. Pirate warrior: utterly repulsive, no skill at all, just be braindead - boring.
    3. Renolock: intermediate skill low creative: just keep the board clear and wait for the combo or Jarraxxus - interesting.
    4. Renopriest: Requires a lot of skill. Difficult to handle, creative gameplay - interesting.
    5. Dragonpriest: High tempo, intermediate skill - boring.
    6. Miracle Rogue; Low skill, low creativity, just wait for Auctioneer. -boring.

Low originality means that win conditions are monotonic and straight forward. In HS creativity seems to be carefully avoided. For obvious reasons. Those who call others "whining" are the true fans. They don't think, they just adore. Like president-elect Trump-voters just adore.

How exactly did you come up with the skill ratings for these decks?  Just as an example, Miracle Rogue is considered a very difficult deck to play correctly.  If you boil it down to "wait for auctioneer" I suppose any deck is boring and low skill.  Freeze Mage is so easy and boring, it's just wait for Alexstrasza and cast spells.
Nice job forcing in the unsolicited political commentary too.  I think anyone who forces politics into unrelated discussions are really some of the most boring and uncreative people imaginable.
