posted a message on 0 originality: complaints about netdecks
    Quote from Lamsednav >>

Both Standard and Wild are so full of tryhards with netdecks. This game is getting lame with every expansion.

Where has the fun been into trying new cards and combos out? This game is sooooooooo boring and stale that way.

People play the game for different reasons.  If you're interested in trying new decks and experimentation, nobody is stopping you from doing that.  Other people want to be as competitive as possible and play the best decks to do that.
"Tryhard" is such a dumb term.  How are you going to mock someone for wanting to do their best?

posted a message on As it turns out, yes, Tavern Brawl is rigged.
    Quote from thepoxbox >>

I didn't know this, but if you're wondering why Brawl is suspiciously hard no matter how good you are, it's because Blizzard is cheating you.

"After the initial placement, player matchmaking is controlled by the player's success in Tavern Brawls, using a hidden MMR.[14]Tavern Brawl MMR is ongoing, and carries over from week to week.[15]"

Not only is it rigged in that this casual, for fun mode is actually like Ranked, but it carries from week to week, forever, apparently, making it worse than ladder.

Blizzard, once again, sucking more than imaginable at a simple task.

What are you babbling about?  If it's based on MMR that means you're being paired with players similar to your skill level.  That's actually fair because you're not being placed against new players or more veteran ones.
So how exactly are you being cheated?

    Quote from tiny_nice_wolf >>

Dirty Rat's battlecry in 99% cases gives current player a massive advantage

99%.  I'd love to see the data supporting this.
I think Dirty Rat is a really cool card because it has a unique risk associated with it.

    Quote from Frostraven >>

    The problem with Free to Play -- is that you achieve access to 50 times more ingame content from going to work an extra day, for 8 hours, than playing for 8 hours;
You'll have to play the game for 8 hours 50 days extra to achieve the same as an extra day at work would give you.

    ...
Notice I said this is the problem with Free to Play.
The fact that the devs/publishers rather want you to go to work and then pay them, rather than playing the game to unlock the content, is the shady part.
Especially because there is no spending cap:

Like; An ethical Free to Play game would limit your spending to 100$, and give you unlimited free access to all content at that point, possibly still allowing the purchase of additional cosmetics purely to offer a way to further support the game.

Lots of games adopt this formula, especially MMOs.  You can farm gold for time, or buy it for money (same with monthly subscriptions).  Which of the two is more valuable to you?  Hearthstone is an online game that continues to evolve and add new content, so there has to be a steady revenue stream to keep the game viable.  Where do you get the arbitrary $100 figure as an ethical number?  You can spend as much or as little on this game as you'd like.  There is nothing shady or unethical about it.
    Quote from Falbrogna >>
I have to complete my daily quests because after years of doing so I can't stand the idea of "missing free gold". Buying packs is by now the only very good thing left this game has going for me. I usually just log in to do them then quit as fast as I can, playing the minimum I can to get them done.
As for browsing and posting on the forums.. yeah, why not? There's no rng bs or pirate warriors here, posting on forums is fun. As many pro streamers said HS is a game which is a lot more fun to watch than to play, and the same applies here.
Hope I cleared your confusion now.
You really didn't clear up my confusion at all, and honestly it sounds like you have an unhealthy addiction.  You're grinding gold to earn packs in a game that you don't like or want to play?  Why would you care about missing free gold from a game you hate?  There have been a few games that I've sunk a decent amount of money into and eventually grew bored of, I don't continue to play them just because I've already committed a certain amount of money or time into them.
I would think you'd be happier just uninstalling the game and maybe watching some streamers play it from time to time.  Regardless, your attitude of "this game sucks, don't play it" is nonsense and hypocritical.  If you're really being honest about hating Hearthstone as much as you do, you need to remove it from your life entirely and you'll probably be a lot happier.  Or maybe even take an extended break.  Once you start missing the daily quests and "free gold" (you're still spending time) and realize life goes on and you haven't actually lost anything, you'll probably be a lot happier and better off.

I'd like to add my own advice to the newbies: RUN while you still can. Play a better game instead which is actually fun.

Oh god this. If I could go back in time I'd definitely tell my younger self to never get close to this game, ever. Not because it's addictive, fun or anything (it isn't) but because it's a frustrating mismanaged mess that I'm just too late to completely quit now because the idea of not doing my dailies is impossible by now.
Stay away guys, there's plenty, PLENTY of better card games out there. It is too late for me, but not for you. This game doesn't deserve your time, even less your money.
So the game is a frustrating mismanaged mess that isn't fun, yet you have to complete your daily quests, continue to play it, and even browse and post on forums related to Hearthstone...
That makes absolutely no sense.  I don't continue to play games that I don't like.

I don't get this elitism with the F2P model.  If people don't spent money on this game, it will cease to exist.

Think of the countless hours spent playing it compared to other games and the cost is pretty manageable.  It's like because something is labeled as F2P the thought of actually spending money on and supporting the game becomes insulting to a lot of players.

I've spent a lot of money on Hearthstone and I don't regret any of it.  The game provides hours of entertainment, more so than a new $60 game that I might play for a few hours before I get bored of it  (What's the average length of a lot of new releases, maybe 10 hours).  It sounds like you don't really enjoy the game anymore, OP.  That's fine, but you clearly did at one point and have more than earned that $500 back by the hours you've played.  You shouldn't encourage new players to not support something just because you became bored of it.

So people that are spending money on HS probably haver some problems with their heads, so their missplays is normal

If nobody spent money on Hearthstone the game wouldn't exist, genius.

posted a message on What is currently the most overpowered card in Standard?

That's a good point about there being some rather broken openers more than anything.  Nothing worse than being all but screwed before turn 5.

    Trogg into Totem Golem.

    Almost any pirate opening.

Azure Drake is probably one of the most universal cards, but you're right about it not being overpowered.

I understand nothing really compares to what Dr. Boom used to be back in the day.  I'm more curious as to what people feel is the most powerful cards currently in Hearthstone and why.

In your opinion, what is the most powerful common card and the most powerful class card, statistics aside.

I mean, before there were a ton of cards which were ridiculously powerful.  Mad Scientist, Piloted Shredder, Sludge Belcher, etc.  Enough so that these cards were found in almost every deck.  Do you think now that there aren't really any overpowered or unbalanced cards?

Personally, I think something like Power Overwhelming is insanely powerful still, being only a cost of 1 mana.  I think that would be my class choice.  Patches the Pirate is something I currently think is rather broken and found in lots of decks.

Dr. Boom used to be (arguably) the best card in the game.  It was in almost every single deck.

    So I have two questions:

    1.  What common card is the most overpowered and versatile as Dr. Boom used to be back in the day?

    2.  What class specific card is the most overpowered and why?

For someone who is so smart and analytical he sure lacks any type of evidence aside from anecdotes.  His story is akin to when you buy a new car and start driving it, you start seeing "your" car all over the place.  You just didn't notice what was right in front of you before, because it didn't impact your life.

    posted a message on Malygos
    Quote from Kunigunde53 >>

The only difference between us is that you apply the term "viable" to decks that are not top tier right now, to decks that have some potential but that are right now clearly outclassed by the top tier decks. I am more strict and applied this term only to top tier, there are enough of these.

So the only "viable" decks are:

    Patron Warrior (RIP)

    Demonlock

    Secret Paladin

    Dragon Priest

    Midrange Druid

It's semantics but your definition of viable is incorrect.  As you said, you can have a Malygos deck and still maintain a positive win ratio and be successful with it.  It's just not the "in" thing right now and I'd say Malygos decks tend to be a bit more difficult to play than some of the FOTM decks we're currently seeing.  OP asked if there were any viable decks that contained Malygos, not if there are any "Top Tier" decks.

It's shameful.  He blatantly stole Yagut's deck and guide, and thinks by using his name that makes it okay.

Everyone who gave this deck an upvote needs to give it to Yagut's deck and simultaneously downvote this plagiarism.
