Card back is better how? Does the card back generate dust, cards you don't have, reduce your legendary pity timer, etc? They should just give both and stop being stingy. This is supposedly a celebration event and yet another useless card back doesn't feel like much to celebrate.
i just cant understand this. its a free game. blizz is generous with the free pack a week.
they did so much great work with this weeks brawl. i would expect anything of a reward than the brawl itself.
the back is debateble, could be more unique like the winterveil-back but this is complaining on a very high level.
you guys should just enjoy this brawl but you always are so greedy ... sad.
It's not about greed. Would you rather have a quarter or a commemorative coin? One has value, and the other is simply aesthetic. It's a pretty straightforward choice for most.
I'd be fine with a commemorative coin if, before that, I had already been given plenty of quarters for free. Blizzard is anything but greedy for giving us a free game to play, while making sure it's a decent game. If anything, people saying things about how Blizzard is greedy for giving us not enough free stuff are the greedy ones.

of course its about greed. you dont care if the brawl is good or not. you care about the reward and thats it.
my post said it all. brawl is great. good work. no need for any reward! but you got a card back that may fit a demonic-themed deck or something like that. i will put the back on my demon-lock deck.
but its more about the fact that people will ALWAYS complain. if the brawl is shit and inunspirational, people dont enjoy the free-pack but complain about the uncreativity. if the brawl is good and you get a nice gimmick with it, people complain about not getting the free pack.
thats ungrateful!
Ok, first of all, I care A LOT if the Brawl is any good or not, because I spend my time playing it every week. Maybe OTHERS don't care, but I do.
Second of all, yes I do care about the reward. I don't even need an explanation there, I care about the reward. What is wrong with that? I, like most people, want to feel a sense of accomplishment when we put forth work (no matter how minimal). Furthermore, it's not my fault that Blizzard has essentially turned us all into Pavlov's Dog - we hear the bell (Tavern Brawl) and we start salivating for the food (pack). They're the ones who started giving us a pack every week for winning Brawl, and now it's not there so the blind sheep don't know how to act.
Anyway, I am way more concerned with gameplay than I am with rewards, and imo the gameplay for this Brawl is SHIT. The Wanderer is too easy, getting to the Cow King is totally random based on the 3 secrets he starts out with, and to top it all off you only get a card back that 90% of players will never use. As a long time Diablo fan, I expected so much more from this Brawl. I will give them credit for the endeavor, and I can tell they didn't just throw this together in one night, but they totally failed on the delivery as far as I'm concerned.
Now, you seemed to have enjoyed this Brawl, so your assessment that "the Brawl was good, so no reward required" totally pertains to you. Maybe Blizzard should poll us after each Brawl and ask us how much we enjoyed the gameplay. If we liked the gameplay, they will not give any rewards because gameplay was reward enough. Brilliant.
Let me ask you this, if Blizzard gave you the option every month of choosing a card back or choosing a card pack, you would take the back every time because taking the pack is greedy? No need to answer, I already know what you, along with everyone else, would do.

A quater is not even worth a minute of my time. The commemorative coin is priceless. Get a job and learn what your time is worth. That will help you understand why the majority of people are fine with just the cardback. Packs are cheap.
Well that just shows how entitled you are if you think $0.25 is not worth your time (although I have a feeling you're just trying to take a shot). Take it from a poor boy who's crawled out of the pit to make something of himself: even a PENNY is worth your time. Hopefully one day you can come to realize this. Shame that people don't teach their children the value of money anymore.
Also, you proved my point by saying the commemorative coin is PRICELESS, meaning IT HAS NO PRICE, meaning it's NOT WORTH ANYTHING MORE THAN THE SPACE IT OCCUPIES, much like the card back.
AND btw, if you were to actually READ my post, you would see that I said "I am fine either way" so I actually have a perfect understanding of why people are fine with just the card back (me being one of those myself). All I'm saying is that they should continue to give a pack every week. If that's been the norm, why is it greedy to expect it?

Wanting the weekly pack that we've become accustomed to getting each week does not make one greedy.
Also, my response was only to point out that a pack is more useful to the average player than a card back. One advances you within the game and the other is no different than just using a different hero skin. I would imagine most F2P players prefer free packs to free artwork.
Wanting the pack does make you greedy. You get a pack every week, what's one week without it to get something with much more value instead?
I've dropped some unreasonable amounts of money on this game, and I still think that blizz should be just a BIT more generous with all the stuff. I personally don't play shadowverse, because the whole anime thing makes me wanna vomit, but from WHAT I'VE HEARD, you're pretty much bombarded with packs the whole time. Now I'm not saying we should get a pack for no reasons whatsoever, but come on! A good start would be not being cheap enough to not give us a card pack that we are getting once a week, just because there is a card back as a reward. I bet there are quite a few people that simply don't give a fuck about card backs or diablo, so they may not even want to play the brawl this week. This is just a stupid decision on Blizzards part, that's all.
For instance, I remember I really wanted the Old Gods preorder card back (with the googly eyes n shit), but ended up not getting it. I was pretty upset for a while, but then I realize that I haven't even seen that card back in half a year, which imo is one of the best backs to date. So all in all, backs are temporary, but packs are permanent (in a sense). Pack plz.
Isn't it the exact opposite though?
I've been using the pandaria cardback for years, while my golden Dr. Boom sees little play these days.
Hmm, not sure which opposites you are referring to, but let me help clarify what I meant:
At the time of Old Gods release, I thought the special card back for preordering was really awesome. Once the release hit and I didn't preorder and as such didn't get the special card back, I was upset for a bit because most people were using that card back at the time and I felt left out. Fast forward to now, I haven't seen that card back in over 6 months, so it seems completely arbitrary now. Plus I doubt I would still be using it either if I did have it, because there are just cooler/fresher options now.
So all in all my point was that card backs seem cool and stuff at the time, but after the novelty wears off are you going to be wanting that pack or will you still be satisfied with just the card back? Retrospect for me says that I will not give a shit about the card back after a while, but those dust/cards in my collection will always retain their value.
I concede that there are probably a lot of people like you who use the same tired old card back for a long time (nothing wrong with that, I used Ninjas! for a long ass time), but for the most part it seems like I queue into players who are using the newer card backs (i.e. ones released within the past few months).

Honestly, while people are saying the card back is pretty worthless, it's not like a single classic pack is much worth either. Unless you're a newer player it only means you'll get to use the legendary you craft with the dust something like a day or two sooner. Yes, if you don't like the card back and have no intention using it the odd amount of dust (and slight chance of something worth it) is better, but if you like the back (even if you only use it for a few months) you'll probably get a lot more enjoyment out of that than what equates to a single rare.
(Both would be great of course too, but I don't really think it's worth worrying about or complaining for the occasional odd event like this. It's just so minor, especially in the long run.)
People seem to forget that the pack thing was initially planned to be just for the first few brawls. IMO we are lucky they continue to do it nearly every week and as always it's a f2p game so you shouldn't expect to recieve free gifts all the time.

It's not like brawls are your only source of free packs, You get ~50g from quests every day, plus the gold that you earn from playing games, so it's more like 3 or 4 free packs/week without brawls.
If people don't care about Diablo or card backs, they might not play the brawl, an that's OK, it's their choice. I think this was a pretty good choice on Blizzard's part.

I'll go back to Pavlov's Dog; when the ringing of a bell (new TB) triggers salivation over food (card pack), can you really expect the same behavior when no food is provided this time? While I admit it can be greedy to expect the pack, Blizzard is the one who has conditioned us this way.
I'm not saying that Blizzard OWES us a pack every week by any means, but it just seems odd that they would exclude the food this time by rational that they gave us a piece of gum instead (card back).

No. It means that I make more than $15/hr. As a CPA I bill at $150/hr. Work harder and you wont be a poor boy.
No pack. For me, those packs pretty much result in 40 dust anyway. Meh. The brawl was good and the card back is awesome though.
I'll have to agree with the poster above: 25 cents is not worth my time, or anyone's time if that someone has a decent, let alone good job. You know it's true. People drop $3-4 on a Starbucks coffee few times a week. One pack of virtual cards is nothing. Also, as an alternative - Win some games in casual, earn gold and you'll end up with well over 10k gold, like I did before the last expansion.

People are complaining about getting free stuff because they didn't get other free stuff? A card back might be functionally useless, but it's cool looking and it's only one week without a pack. Same with the Heroic Brawl week. Missing a pack for a week is hardly the end of the world, especially since some players value the card back more than the pack on average. Let them have their week then hoover up your free pack next week.

I only do Tavern Brawls for the free pack because they are RNG fests. Waste of time this week, card back or not.
Love the game, can't stand most of the players.
Well, this one wasn't RNG fest.
