I'm 100% done with the game. Uninstalled from everything.
I am literally considering ending with HS. They dont care about priest, then they nerfed Jaina, now the new Priest AoE sucks balls and seems like they are pushing silence priest, and now this censorship bullshlt cause of China. FFS then just apply this changes to the Asia server or use a toggle button to switch on off the censorship.
If anyone is interested in a since beta account with 6k gold 40k+ dust, wild collection. Contact me.
How silencing everything and killing it would buff silence priest? You actually dont want to kill your silenced Minions. Dude its just counter to sticky minions like Voidlord. Better Twisting nether because it actually clears the board.
Looks like quest priest will be silence X minions.
Am I the only one who is excited for a fresh new look to parts of the classic set? Some of these cards looked really old and janky. I know many of them didn't see much play, but it's cool and interesting! More in line with the whimsical nature of Hearthstone these days as it strays away from its WoW roots.
I'm pretty skeptical. It's called Mistress of pain, first of all.
Edit: Are they freaking serious. They actually did it.
I guess it's because they would rather have a female character portrayed as a queen (position of power) rather than a mistress (a servant.) Honestly this change makes no realistic difference but it's more in keeping with changing times and honestly I'm all for it. Any new change to Hearthstone is welcome at this point.
Did they actually say it was because of China? After all, it's not like Americans would ever, ever be prudes whenever it comes to breasts, even in cartoon form...
At this point America is more communist than China.

Blizzard should make a special stream lessons or youtube videos in which they explain the the only way hs should be played is with supa dupa 1000 IQ control/combo homebrewed decks and 30 minutes long match is a minimum time period that proves you're not braindead blah blah something etc.
I looked at this and thought "eh oh well" then I went and checked my collection and it infuriated me. This is some pu**y BS, how many people honestly would complain about that? the tiniest amount of blood or flesh in some images, really weak.
People have been demanding a Silence + Clear card to deal with all the mechs for literally months now and when they get one, there’s complaints?
I am somewhat bemused...
Which people? I was never a part of them, so I have the right to complain.
For sure, I don't have a specific list of usernames, no. Only the large number of repeated threads on the forums about the issue, that's all. Priest got a great card that solves a huge problem with the Rise of Mechs that many people have been asking for. It just bemuses me as to what exactly people don't like about the card. If there's a legitimately valid reason, then I'm keen to know.
"Edgy quote about being too smart and suffering for it" - Literally who - 1890 Yes I am better than you, my signature implies it. Annoying Random colours.
Supporting communist countries while hurting the other end of the stick. great...
They already have a separate chinese client, I don't see why it would be hard to change the card art only on the chinese side. I am just waiting on what change is coming next, removing tits and blood might not seem like a big deal for now but it is setting up a path for bigger changes controlled by the communist chinese government. People that are making fun of this are the real dumbasses that can't see what's coming and will eventually become puppets.
I doubt that this is a reaction to recent criticism or "politics". The game has been around for years, so have most of these cards, and if anybody had complained, the company didn't give a damn.
My guess is that they do it because they want the game to get a kid-friendly rating everywhere around the world, and in some places, the depiction of sexuality of any kind (like "suggestive themes") and blood/gore might push the game into a "not suitable for kids" category. And changing it for everyone is probably less complicated than changing it for some countries.
So, it's probably less "political correctness" and more "how can we make more money".
Another reason might be, that Succubus did not look enough like a "demon" to them, or that they want felhounds to be related to discard, like Lakkari Felhound, for some reason. I don't really get Queen of Pain, since her artwork is still a succubus, she still looks like a half-naked lady with wings. Slightly less sexy, but far from modest. But ok, if people would find that less suggestive than merely the title "mistress", fine.
Either way, if they think it's the right move, then sure enough they should do it, even if it seems silly to players. There are worse things in the game and around it to get upset about. And some of the new artwork I actually like better, like Windfury Harpy. The only one I really don't like is Headcrack. Looks too brightly colored for Hearthstone, much like the new artworks for the choose-one effects of Power of the Wild and Wrath.
people ask for "Silence then kill" cards whenever sticky deathrattle minions have been dominant and have for a long time. Like since the days of Piloted Shredder meta. It's also what made Psychic Scream strong too, since it was that particular effect in theory
I hope we get some spot removal with that effect in this set. That spell at 9 mana seems unwiedly
Art changes are probably an esrb rating thing so it's like whatever. I like the new Headcrack tho, and im getting a kick out of the weirdos crying censorship or communism
This thread hasn't been locked yet, as it should be fine to discuss changes to the game, and this includes changes in artwork.
That said, we also have members on this forum from all over the world, China included, so please can you try and refrain from making sweeping comments about people from specific countries in a negative light. I'd prefer to let the thread thrive if the discussion is fruitful and about the cards themselves.
If you actually went to the ESRB site you would know that these changes are not enough to make it rated lower than Teen(which it is rated currently) since the game has a way of communicating with others through chat. The are no other reasons to change the art than to appeal to the communist chinese government. And them not stating the reason is more of a reason to assume that the power of money is driving them to do this. Did they ever make a ui change out of their good will? Hell no. They won't even touch wild if it doesn't gain them money.

I really appreciate you not destroying the conversation and only removing the comments that were directed at the people specifically. I actually got banned on the official Blizzard forum for using the word 'communist'. Also the reply function on the site is confusing, I pressed it in response to @Dunscot's comment but it wasn't posted below him nor it was in any way connected to his comment. This may make some comments look silly by themselves, hope the new Hearthpwn team can try improving the forum a little.
Wait wut? How is Headcrack being changed, but cards like Shadow Word: Pain and Shadow Word: Death can remain just as dark & demonic as they are...? Because they're shadow words...? They actually don't exist or...?

"BY FIRE BE PURGED!" ~ Ragnaros the Firelord, 2014-2017
Honestly, Hearthstone has never objectified the male form to anywhere near the degree it has done so with the female; the old art was pretty one-sided and sexist. If they had been more even-handed with their titillating depictions in the past, I might have been more annoyed by this self-censorship.
However, I can only see this as a long-needed course correction. Another alternative would be to sexify a bunch of the male art, but if toning down the girly pics makes the game more palatable in certain markets, it was probably the better move.
You can still play HS and have your porn running on another monitor if you absolutely must do both at once.

Please show me some examples where the old art is "sexist" and please explain why it is "sexist".
If there are "sexist" female characters in Blizz games, there are "sexist" male characters as well... oh wait no, only women can be victims and not male (beacause patriarchy) ...

The ESRB is for the United States and Canada, other countries use other rating systems, like PEGI (thoug the game has a PEGI 7, which is already very low). I don't know every rating system around the world, and I frankly won't bother doing research on it. This just seems the most logical explanation for me.
Even if it is ONLY for the Chinese market (and for some reason was ignored for so many years), and ONLY to appeal to Chinese standards, as you say, that's still a good enough reason. It's a huge market, and disparities in card art are not an ideal solution either, especially when they broadcast tournaments with Chinese players and viewers.
If Blizzard has to decide to either go with the artwork they chose for their game over 5 years ago and have issues in one country with millions of players, or just change the silly artwork so that everyone is happy, that should be an easy decision.
You make it sound like a conspiracy, which is just silly. Also throwing in the term "communist" really isn't adding anything. If you want to discuss politics, do it elsewhere. But even if you wanted to talk about Chinese politics, don't embarrass yourself and start with "communism" like it's the 1950s.

This is just embarassing, just region lock the game to china or make two different clients already.
China is basically like if Soccer Moms controlled an entire world superpower at this point.

Actually most of new cards seems better (exept Windfury Harpy ).
I don't mind non-aggressive and no-naked images.
