The timing of the Flametongue nerf is unfortunate for Shaman, but it's something that should have happened a long time ago. I wonder if this spells the end of Odd Rogue. Equality goes the way of Blade Fury. But I think there's a good chance that it still is played. I think it really hurts Even Paladin though. Hunter's Mark is a fair nerf. I can't believe that card used to be 0 mana. Emerald Spellstone is a nice change. Waiting a full turn more is very impactful. The curve can no longer be Trap on 2, Trap on 3, coin spellstone. Or spellstone into Rexxar.
I am aware of this article. Kinda surprised by those changes except the spellstone and maybe coldblood.
[edit 2] Apparently no nerfs to Barnes. Meh. However Odd rogue and Pirate Kingsbane got nerfed, so this will affect the wild meta. Can't wait to see how it will look like. If they drastically fall on popularity, I am going to have a great time with my greedy Steal Priest decks.
Equality really confuses me. Tho my guess is that next expansion will have some new board clear card for paladin. Other nerfs seem fine but man, f2p players are hurting big time from this.
I be like "daaaaamn boy". The hammer is swinging hard.

Flame tongue and Equality nerfs are controversial but they makes sense (at least to me). Flame tongue is probably for wild Even Shaman and Equality because it was an auto include for the longest time.
Priest, Warlock and Mage are pretty huge winners, especially Priest. I would expect Malygos and Togwaggle Druid to make a comeback since they are hard counters to almost all Priest decks.
Flametongue has been an issue forever. Flametongue was so much better than what most other decks have at that point in the game that it forced Shaman to have a bunch of terrible early game minions. The second Shaman had good early game, it was close to oppressive (Trogg, Totem Golem, Patches).

This is how I have rationalized it.
Equality is basically Execute/Hunter's Mark. But it Executed the entire board, Now, it costs what AOE should cost.

True, but you have to note that paladins didn't get a good AoE until Boomsday. For a long time all they had was equality + pyromancer/consecration, while other classes improved their arsenal with nice removals (we warlocks got defile and spellstone, mages got dragon's fury, meteor, priests got scream, mass hysteria etc etc, The list goes on and on and I am not even mentioning already rotated cards). I really hope paladins get a good board wipe next expansion.

Yeah - they kind of have the priest problem in terms of AOE, but just not as bad.
Shrink Ray is actually a really reasonable card, and it'll be around for the next year.

Equality + Consecrate at 8 mana is still good for a control deck. Aggro and Midrange decks like Anyfin Murloc Paladin, Even Paladin are probably gonna suffer. Apart from Equality, Paladins still have Shrink Ray and Sunkeeper Tarim.

Yeah, there's a reason for that. If every class was good at everything, what's the point of having different classes? Warlock, Mage and Priest are the kings of mass removal, of course they got good options. Paladin can get mass stat changes and some AoE, but combined with Pyromancer they got a mass clear very cheaply, which encroaches on other classes design space too much.
Removing class weaknesses is what got us Cubelock/Control Warlock (when Warlock got good healing in Lesser Amethyst Spellstone, Dark Pact and Bloodreaver Gul'dan), oppressive Druid (when Spreading Plague gave Druid good anti-Aggro board presence) or many people's most hated Hunter card, Deathstalker Rexxar (which gives Hunter card advantage and healing, both traditional weaknesses).

Equality + Pyro/Consecration is still a 2-card combo, isn't it? You have to find them on time (especially versus faster decks) and have the needed mana to play them. Maybe in even shaman Equality is kinda too strong (the same way Execute proved to be busted in Dragon Warrior back in the days), but in regular slow builds paying 4/6 mana and investing 2 cards doesn't sound that problematic. Especially not in pure control lists w/o a real win-condition. If I have to be honest with you, I actually see Time Out! as a bigger offender, since it allows paladins to gain an extra turn and to recover from the opponent's board for only 3 mana.

I see your point, but I don't think that this can be compared to the aforementioed examples. Not to mention, that the aforementioned designed cards stand above the power curve and suppor their classes a bit too much. Warlock is strong only when we have ways to recover from our busted HP (the DK was fairly weak back in KoFT, but it got better with the inclusion of defensive demons. N'zoth was a popular card in many control decks, cuz the deathrattles allowed some minions to survive after a board wipe and some of them also had taunt like Belcher. Voidlord had those effects combined and with the recruit cards this formed a really strong package for the DK). Druid's powerful ramp abilities, powerful draws (UI) and the board denying SP made them reach a whole new level. And I don't think, that if paladins had yet another board clear, it would drive them out of balance.
Yeah - they kind of have the priest problem in terms of AOE, but just not as bad.
Kinda disagree. Priests have spirit lash, Anduin, Scream, Hysteria, occasional Duskbreaker and shadow visions for the spells, so this class is actually doing fine.
Shrink Ray is actually a really reasonable card, and it'll be around for the next year.
I didn't forget about it (I even hinted it with the until Boomsday part), but I just think that slow paladin decks took an unnecessarily huge hit.
This all looks like a lot like functional reprints of the same card every year and flooding Wild with them. Like how Priest has 4+ AOE board clears. Sounds like we'll get Hunters Mark 2.0, Hot Blood and NeoEquality soon.
I suppose these all seem fairly reasonable.

WTF
Equality? Hunter's Mark again.

Why u hav to be mad? is only card gaem.
Knew that emerald spellstone nerf was coming after the recent balance discussion.
Flametongue nerf hurts even shaman hard.
I think they'll buff Equality down to 3 once Baku rotates out. Reason why they did 4. I'd love to have 3 equality than 5 shrink ray.
Its Christmas all over again!!

IMO, this is similar to the Mana Wyrm nerf.

You can find me here! Good luck everyone!
I have golden copies of Emerald Spellstone and Cold Blood, gonna be a nice 2400 dust for me but that's real lucky that I had 2 of each.
Luckily, aggressive Odd Mages are starting to reach a point in their iteration where they're good.

Actually pretty reasonable, only thing that sucks is no nerf to Barnes.
Unpopular opinion: Rogue is OP
