Casual is meant to be a safe place for noobs to play without being smashed by meta decks. I think he is right. Stay out of casual if you are using a ladder deck.
Look to my response.
Do you think that playing a class since the beta of a game and suddenly it becomes a genuinely good class with a good competitive deck deserves that kind of a response? No? So I am just not allowed to play in the casual mode because ... ?
What you are saying is itself a contradiction because there is no such thing as a 'ladder deck'. If so, please define that because in my experience midrange shaman was the worst deck in Hearthstone since the beta and now it isn't. Why? Because I included new cards into it? Because of how popular it is?
So that means you aren't allowed to play the cards that I don't like on casual mode nor are you allowed to play any of the 9 classes when they are all popular, or does this mean you are currently only allowed to play Druid in the casual mode?
Do you get what I am saying? Your idea of 'Stay out of casual because you are using a ladder deck' is fuckin' stupid at the best of times and at worst... well, I have experienced death threats which isn't so bad since you know it's a kid on the other side of the screen but... they used the same argument. If this is your opinion fine... but do be aware that your opinion is also, whether you like it or not, indirectly also supporting being a class A jerk to other people including to the extent of telling people to kill themselves.
The casual mode is a place where people play without losing stars. That's the full extent. Anything other than that is a fallacy that is self-defeating as I just pointed out. Because you can't say "No ladder decks" without actually defining what a ladder deck is; if it's derived from popularity then the most fun decks in the history of Hearthstone are banned. Doesn't seem that casual and definitely not fun.
Wait a second. Something does not compute.
1) Shaman enthusiast since beta 2) Shaman was very bad till Karazhan 3) Shaman became the best deck in the game in Karazhan 4) Instead of using this power to finally reach Legend in ladder, you resort to roflstomping F2P newbs in Casual with the strongest deck in the format 5) And you expect everyone to see this as acceptable?
I honestly do not understand you. WHY would you take OP KZ Midrange Shaman in CASUAL? The deck ALREADY won an OBSCENE % of the time, so why even bother bringing it to Casual? Ladder was obviously infested with it since it was the best deck. Was it because...you actually DIDN'T want to have fun using your favourite class to get to Legend? Srsly, ANYONE playing KZ Midrange Shaman in casual is just wasting time...why not play the damn games in Ranked so you can finally get your Legend card back? Why were you roflstomping newbs in Casual?

There is no "etiquette" in Casual. I am tired of these asshats who constantly whine about meta decks in casual. They might state otherwise, but they actually don't give a shit about the new player experience. The MMR in place in Casual prevents new players going up against netdecks, so don't you worry your little hearts out...
Just play the way you want and don't let anyone berate you over some made-up minute shit.
I only play casual if I have a daily quest to finish, no decent deck to do it with, and I'm close to moving up a ladder tier. There's almost no excuse to play casual with a netdeck other than cowardice. Even my fun homebrew/meme decks I usually play on ladder after I tier-up, since I have nothing to lose at rank 15, 10 or 5 and I can try my deck against real decks.
If you're seriously testing a deck, you're not going to gain much input playing dragon Warlocks, spell-damage Warriors and noobs with all basic cards. Have some fortitude and try it on ladder.
Here’s a different but equally logical piece of etiquette: it’s always wrong to play netdecks on casual. Whatever you think about folks ruining the friend request feature with “criticism,” folks who play tier 1 net decks actually do ruin the casual game experience for everyone
I think it's boring to play against the same meta decks in the casual and ranked. I go to casual with a shit-tier meme deck to mix things up, not to experience exactly the same things I already do on ladder.
I can't really understand if there truly are people who are such pussies that they can't test their new T1 deck on ranked. Losing a few stars is such a tragedy apparently. I can play all kinds of wonky decks on rank 4 or 3 and not worry about losing a few stars, because I know I can easily rank up with some overpowered flavor of the month deck if I really want.
My opinion is, that most people who go on casual with a T1 deck do so with a intention to curb stomp some noobs. Kinda like some people in WoW feel the need to gank lowbies with a high level character. To them what they enjoy is not winning, but shitting on other players experience and knowing that the other player is suffering / wasting their time (also explains the constant emote spamming when you happen to face one of them with an off-meta deck - which can be really satisfying if you actually happen to win anyway).
I only play homebrews but agree with those saying there are no rules. I actually like testing out my decks against T1 builds from time to time to see how they fare. However, I also agree with YololoSwaggins in the frustration/boredom that can come from seeing the same aggro netdecks a bunch of games in a row. In those cases I usually just concede at the start/once it's obvious they're top tier netdecking - if they're gold/quest farming we're both happier, and if they really want to test out a new netdeck then my homebrew won't give them good feedback on whether they're ready for the ladder.
Personally, I only get salty when a T1 netdecker starts emoting a bunch at the end of the match against my homebrew. But that's the same type of don't-be-an-ass norm violation that gets me salty anywhere in the game...though there's probably a few extra grains of sodium because they're bragging about a win they were heavily favored in.
If winning in casual is important, people should play a competitive deck. It's far more effective than hoping your opponent doesn't, especially if you are an experienced player with high MMR.
I don't care about winning, I just don't want to face decks that are either meta or toxic. I'd rather lose to Freeze Shaman than have 100%wr.
You must have cared about winning at some point if you are facing meta decks. Unfortunately, the game has to work this way or people would just grief new players.

For example, why the heck would you want to check your net-decked Secret Hunters performance vs. supposedly inferior opponents in Casual mode? Do you really think you gain that much experience how to pilot it correctly from stomping homebrews or memes? No, you're just afraid to lose some of your precious ranked stars. Also, many of the T1 lists are so easy to learn, it's almost auto-pilot level but apparently some people still feel the need to feast on weaklings. There's a reason this thread exists: https://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/players-and-teams-discussion/222850-new-third-game-mode-real-casual-play-network
I mostly only go into casual to complete quests for classes that I don't really have many cards for or just don't enjoy.
If it's like "play 30 druid cards" I don't even attack the other player, just spam out my cards asap and even buff the opponents minions to show them I'm just doing a quest...
you'd be surprised how many still smorc you down as quick as they can. (or maybe you wouldn't, ha ha)
I mean they can do what they like, but surely it's an empty victory to beat someone who is not even attacking you and is buffing your minions for you.
Ofc they could be doing a quest for wins, so it's understandable.
It would be nice if players recognized the other player was doing a play x amount of cards quest and just let them play their cards as they're handing you the victory anyway.
sadly this is idealist and naive. it's never going to happen.
I have a "Legendary Only" deck that I like to play in Wild Casual. If someone is playing a fast meta deck that I clearly have no chance against, I concede early and often.
Their "reward" for playing meta decks in casual is that their games never go more than four turns.
Laughing at all of these people arguing that testing meta decks in casual is acceptable. 1.) Yeah I'm sure my 14 secret Subject 9 Mage deck is a great way to test your netdeck spell hunter for what you are gonna see on the ladder full of hunter decks. 2.) If you're testing ladder decks how about getting to a Rank floor and testing them? Or grow some balls and risk your stars. It's not like you can fall that far anyway. 3.) Casual MMR is based on win rate, not deck but given that people generally all run 50%ish win rates it's not uncommon to get netdeck rolled regardless.
I go into casual to try weird goofy shit like Odd Gonk Druid and Hooktusk Cannon Barrage Rogue that has no presence on the ladder because it sucks, why do you feel the need to take your tier 1 deck you couldn't even make yourself into there just to faceroll me by turn 5? Got a Quest? Make a goofy deck and do it you lazy turd. Stop polluting the match making pool.
To reiterate the general gist of this thread for those that haven't got it yet; You can play whatever you want in casual. So can everybody else. There are no rules. Get over it.
One thing I like about casual is that sometimes you are only doing it to complete a play X cards quest, and you find an opponent who realizes and doesn't take lethal to let you finish. I'll do that also and obviously if I'm wrong they can just concede. Made some friends that way which is nice. Chaturbate
There's Xnxx not many moments for a cooperative spirit in Hearthstone so I personally enjoy them when they happen. Tubegalore
Nothing really to do with OP's question though so dunno wtf I'm replying in this manner.
There are no tenets for Casual, or Ranked so far as that is concerned. You can play anything you desire, in any capacity you need.
I for one detest confronting Hyper Aggro decks when I go to Casual, regardless they are doing nothing incorrectly or against the principles. Completely inside their rights to do it. I've even once in a blue moon included two or three these individuals to reveal to them what I think (which they are allowed to overlook), yet never will I disclose to them they can't do it.
Well in my view casual is the place where there is just no stars and no rewards besides the 10G. So basically you do whatever you wish to. I personally only go there to test stuff and do quests (like play X amount of murlocks or pirate or whatever and I have no decks that could compete including those cards). And I'm actually happy to face meta decks so I can see if my half assed deck works or not (and by that usually it is does this deck works without this specific expensive card that I don't have).
But I play 99% of my games in ranked because let's face it, stars don't mean much and even if I go from 16***** to 20 0 stars, who cares and what did I lost? A golden rare? Damn! And if I win enough to reach a rank floor then good I get some more dust. I mean at least I won something, but there isn't much to lose.
All because someone is playing a net deck, doesn't mean they understand the game, know how to play against every deck, or have the confidence to play ranked.
Look, I get it, but I also remember what I used to do as a new player all those years ago(play casual).
I mainly play casual while I'm at work to complete daily quests since I know there's always a chance my game will get interrupted. It's not uncommon for me to get a friend request from someone I just played and beat, regardless of the tier of deck I played, criticizing me for playing "try hard decks" in casual. I'll accept the friend request, they'll say something derogatory then quickly unfriend me. So I've taken to either wholly disregarding friend requests or accepting them and immediately replying with something like "saltiness is a bitch ain't it? qq" dependent upon what mood I'm in.
Either way, insulting people while hiding behind the pretense of "etiquette" is painfully ironic and hypocritical.
One thing I like about casual is that sometimes you are only doing it to complete a play X cards quest, and you find an opponent who realizes and doesn't take lethal to let you finish. I'll do that also and obviously if I'm wrong they can just concede. Made some friends that way which is nice.

Had this happen recently, a guy was playing a full Even Shaman deck and after he realized I was just tossing cards, he let me play my entire deck. I just thanked him at the end of the match and attacked into his minion for lethal, it was good sportsmanship.
I use casual to complete quests that are like "Play 'X' Druid Type Cards" or to play "fun"/meme decks...
I don't get offended when people feel the need to go full try-hard in a queue that doesn't even matter... but it does take a lot of fun out of the game when you're trying to pull off a hilarious combo, or do something fun and someone is trying to end you before turn 5
IMHO: if you need (or even care about) your +10g to make your 100g/day and dont think you're going to play enough of any other queue to get it that way, then by all means milk the free wins off the players trying to have fun.. Otherwise, at least let it go to fatigue before lethal
lol I can't remember the last time I actually accepted a salty friend request and I play 0% netdecks.

I usually don't care, most decks I play in casual are semi-competitive meme decks that can actually do well anyway.
I used to rage every time I faced a netdeck, but honestly lifes too short for that crap.
