I don't play Wild. I would like to play Wild. Standard is just a clown-fiesta of Hunters and Paladins currently (in my exp) and I would like a new challenge.
Is Wild over-dominated by just one or two specific decks (as it has been in the past)? Or is it more broad in terms of decks?
Alternatively I could always just go play Arena. Plenty of variety there I suppose! :-)
Well... It's dominated by about 23 decks... So yea... But for a beginner in wild, my recommendation would be to craft either renolock or renopriest to get used to the format, both have a lot of key cards that can be used in a variety of metadecks. The only big problem in wild is big priest, but it's less common now because of even shaman and odd rogue.

I can only speak up to rank 5 at the moment, but at least until then there is much, much, much more variety of decks from my experience than in Standard. And at the moment only Big Priest is really anoying, but there is no deck or class, which feels broken or op (beside Big Priest sometimes feels broken) so I whould say Wild is in a very good spot at the moment. :)
Blizzard should make a special stream lessons or youtube videos in which they explain the the only way hs should be played is with supa dupa 1000 IQ control/combo homebrewed decks and 30 minutes long match is a minimum time period that proves you're not braindead blah blah something etc.
No it is not. As standard is full of hunters wild is full of even shamans. Even shaman in wild hits very very hard is difficult to count and nothing is nearly so strong.
After even shaman you have the other bored Big priests. This is wild.

I do not know what my fellow hearthpwners are smoking but last season from rank7 to rank 2 i was facing only big priest and hyper smorc decks with some renolocks springled in. So no wild is shitfest.I will take the standard hunter meta which i can at least counter, thank you.
Wild has been better lately since the druid nerfs. The problem with wild is yes there are quite a few viable decks but those decks barely ever change. Right now the best decks in wild are even shaman, big priest, Reno warlock, Reno priest, stuff like that. A year from now we'll probably still have the exact same tier 1 decks. The meta doesn't change much so you get bored after awhile.
Wild has 2 decks which are around 70% on hsreplay, and they're two of the most popular decks too.
Include the most cancerous, non-interactive, high-rolling deck that is big priest and then you've got about 75% of the games you'll encounter.
Compared to standard's variety wild is an absolute shitshow.
With that said, if you have the collection you might as well give it a shot. Play a couple of games and see how you like it. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have the cards for it though.
Since the standard meta became pretty stale (my favourite control warlock didn't change much) and I kept seeing almost the same decks from WW and TBP, I changed to wild. Last month I played only meme Steal Priest and went to legend (with some struggles ofc :P). Right now I am at rank 3 and all in all my ladder experience was the following one:
Even Shaman
Odd rogue or pirate kingsbane
Big Priest
other aggro/burn decks
This month I rarely faced an aggressive rogue deck (I hope I don't jinx myself), so the meta consists pretty much of only 2 decks with a minor notice of other archtypes (mainly aggro) just like the users above me said. So imho wild is worse than standard, but I think it would be ok for a standard player, who wants to try out something new and wants to switch to the other format.
Regarding counters - I don't think Renolock is a good idea, because it doesn't run transform removals for the priest's beefy minions. But Renomage and control/combo priest are a good idea imho.

this is true, but however, we can run bloodbloom+contract to destroy half their deck and fuck them over
Sure, if you love playing the same Big Priest three times in a row.
The number of distinct Wild players is absurdly small. Playbacks are common. Even if you wait after each game, you are likely to see the same person randomly a couple of times during a session.
Nobody has a good answer as to what to do with Wild. But its is not well.
Yes and no. We have more options to try to counter the meta (Dirty Rat being of course the most prominent example) but the power level is also much higher with way too good and oppresive decks popping out from time to time (Kingsbane pre nerf, Big Priest).
And variety in Wild? Forget about it. I'm mean at the scrub ranks maybe, but it's basically five decks (Odd Rogue, Odd Paladin, Even Shaman, Big Priest, and Reno Lock). The occasional Mage (which really can be anything), once in a blue moon a Pirate Warrior or Aggro Shaman.
That is the problem with Wild. Nothing ever changes. It's the same broken decks forever.

Is this your statistic or just how you feel? Last month the class I fought until rank 5 was with over 30% most of the time Hunter (according to my deck tracker).
EDIT: Here are the stats from my last day I laddered last month:

Replace Hunter with Even Shaman in winrates and frequency, and you get Wild Mode. Well, not really, but nearly that.
Wild is more balanced with class frequency at low and mid ranks. Or at least it was, before the last nerf.
Just, Odd Paladin is still at full power in Wild, so watch out.
Worth trying anyway.

You will find alot of reno locks, even shamans, odd rogues, big priests, odd paladins and pirate rogues. It's rare to run into a druid or a warrior.

In Wild you have many classes in comparison with Standard.
Impressive 3 classes: Shaman, priest and rogue.
Standard only have one: Hunter.
Ok, I exagerating a little but is not far from the thuth.
