One solution might be introducing new mode, where players will have 30 seconds for turn and 3 minutes "bank" per game. If turn takes more then 30 seconds, it will start taking time from bank until it's gone. So players can decide, if they will have several quick turns and one 3 and half minute long, or if they want six 1 minute long turns and after that they will have to manage with only 30 seconds.
Decisions you make on turn 3 can be as important as the ones you make on turn 15. I can make a million examples of ton of tough early game turns, especially if you're playing against or as an aggressive deck.
Yes there are people that arbitrarily do this annoying shit. It's called griefing. What you don't do is punish the entire player base because of them.
Adding different systems like banking time to use on different turns or having a game time counter seem too complicated. Hearthstone prides itself on being simple. Some people play this game on the toilet at work. The rope IS simple and effective at limiting turn time. Everything else is just silly.
Btw, the fact that it frustrates you means it works.
I sent in a suggestion back in beta days that in addition to the turn timer, there should be a chess-like system where each player only gets 20 minutes of play time per game. After 20 minutes of total time elapses on your side of the board, you lose. The number 20 is up for debate, but the system has stood for decades, maybe centuries, in one of the most enduring games in history. It's probably good enough for us.
That would not help at all, it would likely make things worse and punish only people who need the time.
That timer would allow players to spend even longer in each turn at the start for them to frustrate the opponent, say 5 minutes on the first turn waiting for the opponent to leave.
On the other hand, it would lead players with slower decks to losing situations too often just because their decks take too many turns.
(They couldn't use both systems at the same time)
I can't imagine why they couldn't use both systems as I suggested. Having 20 minutes for all your turns doesn't in any way conflict with having no more than 75 secs per turn. And I said 20 minutes was negotiable. Don't know where you get the idea of a 5 minute turn, but I certainly didn't suggest it.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
If they do it more than one turn in a row, while clearly also not making some 200 IQ defile or combo turn, I just rope them back and it almost always stops. When I'm playing HS I often am not doing anything really important so don't care if I have to sacrifice a little extra time to call my opponent's bluff as to whether they really are going to play the rope game with me.
I don't see a feasible solution to roping. You're either going to end up with a system that infringes on players' think time during later turns or you aren't.
Look, I want to tell you something because you're very dear to me. And I hope you understand that it comes from the bottom of my damaged, damaged heart. You are the finest piece of ass I've ever had and I don't care who knows it. I am so glad that I got to roam those hillsides.

We should have shorter turns, with a time bank that you can use to add time to specific turns, and the timebank could be refilled for long matches.
Interesting idea I've seen tossed around, but then you'd just get more crying asking for more OTK decks to get nerfed due to certain combos actually being feasible due to the extra time.
1. Druid is way too good now, and he would have been able to tell you were playing a combo Druid which a large percentage of players hate. You were getting paid back for the game of solitare the guy knew he would have to play against you.
2. You’re assuming you getting the win means anything to the guy roping you; which it obviously didn’t, People don’t rope if they think they can win.
3. You’re putting more value on the win that the time you wasted in this game. Believe me; quickest way to become jaded and salty about this game is to spend too much time on things that waste your time. Sometimes it’s just better for your sanity to auto concede and get into another game that’s actually fun.
Each player gets a set amount of time for the game;
You could also have increments per move, like 15 second per turn and or time limits for total game like 15 minute games, Or 5 min. Thats total time allowed to each player to "think" about their turn. You could set a maximum time for each turn as well for example.
Why not have different room or servers with each server setting the parameters for games there.
Roper tends to fatigue you to death of boredom. Currently, you can only rope him back, sipping a cup of coffee, watching some good films. If you don't have time, just concede and find other good non-ropers to match with.
If you don't netdeck, you'll probably see much, much less roping. They do it because they're tired of seeing the same mindless downloaded deck.
Good luck finding anyone who doesn't do that. Even the people who like to go on about their "homebrews" are just popular netdecks with a few different cards, or they are just plain bad. And if they are so tired of seeing it, why spend the maximum amount of time playing against it by roping?
I don't think that blizzard will do anything against this, so we need to adapt... I personally get everyday at least 2-3 of these jerks, what I do is usually I watch sone youtube videos, view emails or talk to friends on discord... This way i don't get frustrated and I don't waste that much time neither

I play Control Paladin (I m at rank 3 3 stars) and I haven t seen a single person roping this season.

Players are given a certain amount of time per turn and are entitled to use as much of that time as they want, regardless of how salty it makes you.
God this post again.
It will never stop being a nonsense idea

Adding a blitz mode or an adjustable clock would definitely help, similar to chess.
They should just use a clock like in chess;
Each player gets a set amount of time for the game;
You could also have increments per move, like 15 second per turn and or time limits for total game like 15 minute games, Or 5 min. Thats total time allowed to each player to "think" about their turn. You could set a maximum time for each turn as well for example.

I guess that's why I always get so frustrated with seeing the same old decks... I'm that one guy building decks you've never seen before :p
