Against cubelock - yes, I have won games against it because I exhausted them. But against Raza (and quest mage) those are just an "OTK" decks, where you need to have a lot of armor to deal with them, which I'm not sure how exactly fatigue warrior will manage to do it, as it takes a lot of set up and a lot of spent resources to make this happen. Not that much against Highlander, as the priest player can only do 30 - 40 (at most 50) dmg in a single turn. Warrior can stabilize easier there than against QM.
I'm saying this, because imho the ONLY way out is the SMorc strategy against them, nothing more.
ICubelock can get into Raza Priest insanity at times. I saw Thijs deal with 13 doomguards, many able to hit him several times. He survived it by having an insane amount of armor. He'd be able to take a raza priest as well.
Again, I said "if someone figures out some hyperpowered fatigue warrior". It's technically possible for a high armor warrior to exist but whether we have the cards to support it is questionable.
And yes I agree that you pretty much can't go slower. I wouldn't call it 'Smorc' though as fast tempo still trades (seriously you kids don't know what true smorc looks like, like those old face hunter decks). But I'm nitpicking terminology (The TERM you want is you need to be the beatdown/aggressive deck *grumble grumble*). The point is, you need to race down a combo deck unless some unicorn hyperarmor warrior is made.
(why do I keep saying it's possible? Because inner fire isn't a joke card anymore and I saw a shaman deck with a legitimate use of farsight nearly win a high end tournament. If someone wins the next World Championship using Millhouse Manastorm I'm NOT going to freak out).
Oh and nuke Patches into orbit. or just nuke all of MSoG.
I don't think all of MSoG was bad. But I will +1 you for sure on Patches. Fuck that guy. Will not miss him.
I look forward to the rotation myself. Not because I think this meta is soooo bad. Just because I love the race for new decks and actual creativity that happens. There are some cards I look forward to not seeing anymore, Jade Idol, Raza the Chained and things like that.
Out of curiosity does cube lock get affected by the rotation at all?

Thinking on it, no it doesn’t. I don’t think so at least. Karazhan gave warlock literally nothing, cubelock doesn’t use any old gods or gadgetzan cards as far as I know, so nope. It’ll stay on top unless it’s toppled by something
How is this not an aggro meta when even priest has an aggressive deck?
Yes Cubelock, Highlander/big priest and Jade Druid still exist but every other deck is aggressive tempo decks. Back in MSOG Priest running pirates was a joke, now it's an actual deck smh.
FFS jamming pirates in a deck doesn't automatically make it an aggro deck. Tempo priest is a midrange board control deck, aka a tempo deck and a slow one at that. It literally has "tempo" in the name. If it was a true aggro deck, it would be running mind blasts instead of 8 drops and 10 mana spells
Try telling people from face hunter era that in two years, one of the best "aggressive" decks is one that runs 2 mind controls and they're going to laugh in your face
Maybe you should switch your whine statement from "aggro is cancer" to "playing minions is cancer" now that the only real aggro deck left is paladin
Always with the semantics. When someone says aggressive, they don't literally mean decks that end their curve with 4-5 mana cards.
So, when we talk about aggro decks, we shouldn't talk about aggro decks?
With Corridor Creeper we now got a Meta Evolving around Patches/Pirates/Creeper Decks vs Decks that try to counter exactly that.
So one Problem atm is this patches combo but on the other side there is another problem.
Jade/Raze/Cubelock are actually things that should not exists in this game balance, theyre Control/Combo hybrid decks. While pushing out any other control deck with fixed win conditions theyre also way to strong against aggro thus why there are basically no real aggro decks atm only midrange tempo decks.
Normaly a combo deck that generates almost limitless value should lose most games to aggressive decks but those decks have to much aoe and heal for aggro decks to kill them.
There are imo to many problems atm to fix with only 1-2 nerfs. Well have to wait for rotation, were Patches/Raza/Jades will rotate out.
That will have an insane impact on the game, but i still think Blizzard failed hard to nerf bucaneer/war axe over patches which was to problem to begin with.
Again, I said "if someone figures out some hyperpowered fatigue warrior". It's technically possible for a high armor warrior to exist but whether we have the cards to support it is questionable.
Dog did it. I can't link the video, but I didn't say it was impossible. Just way too hard for making a viable strategy out of it. At least in this meta, I'm just not seeing the cards.
I'm actually really into the current meta. granted not all decks are going to see as much play as the cheaper, more successful ones. But most classes have various decks that are viable at the minute, and I find that to be great.
I've not played the game for as long as most of you guys, but I'm seriously loving the game right now.
I mean I have tempo pally, tempo priest and cube and control locks so I guess I'm in a good place. if anyone has found their deck isn't good though, the tempo priest is extremely cheap to craft... just play that.
As for the meta, this is the "no aggro" meta half of hearthpwn wanted no? I hope you guys are happy now
How is this not an aggro meta when even priest has an aggressive deck?
Yes Cubelock, Highlander/big priest and Jade Druid still exist but every other deck is aggressive tempo decks. Back in MSOG Priest running pirates was a joke, now it's an actual deck smh.
The other decks are going aggressive because the top decks are combo and there's only two ways to stop combo: Fast Tempo and Fatigue.
Cubelock and Highlander are Combo oriented and are by far the top dogs. Unless someone comes up with a hyperpowered dead man's warrior deck (and do we really want a Fatigue meta?) then we'll be going fast Tempo. That and, again, Ranked ALWAYS pushes for fast no matter the meta.
I'm starting to think that, beyond Ranked being Ranked, the big issue is when Combo/Control is at the very top. When those decks dominate, the counter to them goes aggro (Combo means fast Tempo, Control means Smorc).
I'm guessing the 'solution' is to have a Tempo deck be the meta defining deck. That will keep smorc and combo decks at bay. Meanwhile, the counter to Tempo is Control. You'll still have a lot of fast decks thanks to Ranked but it's probably the closest you can get until Ranked is overhauled.
Oh and nuke Patches into orbit. or just nuke all of MSoG.
How do you have those as top, missing the Top deck right now since expansion launch pally Aggro.

as far as win VS. loss stats go. aggro pally is top, then murloc pally and then tempo priest (big spell) cubelock would be up there too if it wasn't for all the noobs that crafted the deck thinking it was going to be an easy win machine for them (LoL) so the loss rate of that deck actually pushes it down into like tier 4, despite being the actual strongest new deck.
according to win/loss ratio stats, the 2 top decks are actually aggro paladin's.

This. Cube lock seem quite difficult to play. It doesn't surprise me that it has lower win rates because of it's overwhelming popularity and being played by folks who aren't quite top notch deck pilots.

I very much agree with this, it has been one of the main issues with the meta during this and the last few expansions.
The whole control > midrange > aggro > combo > control cycle is almost always ruined in Hearthstone by a few degenerate cards that let one archetype, usually in one class, trump two or more archetypes.
The most common victim is pure control and as you say this time it is dying to the control-combo hybrids. Warlock, Priest and Mage all have control decks with game winning combos that make playing any other control deck absolutely pointless. Nevermind Control Hunter never seeing the light of day, you have classes that on paper should be highly viable control classes like Paladin and Shaman totally unviable for most of the history of the game because if ever a meta appears in which control can survive, only the control-combo hybrids can be viable.
I'll say it now, there should not exist control-combo hybrids in the game. The damage this does to diversity is just huge.
If it wasn't for Cuba and Aluneth and Ice Block and Raza etc. then you would see many more control and midrange decks rising to meet the aggro and tempo decks that we see now.
The most unfunny thing about Hearthstone, and there is a lot to choose from, is being pigeon-holed into 3-4 decks maximum, usually in 2-3 classes maximum, to be truly viable. In a game with 4 archetypes and 9 classes that's a gigantic failure of design. Playing as and against the same 3-4 decks is crushingly boring.
As for the meta, this is the "no aggro" meta half of hearthpwn wanted no? I hope you guys are happy now

when facing a cubelock with a faster deck, you just have to punch through enough to hopefully be able to silence the first void daddy and then finish them off before another lands. I just faced one before with a tempo/midrange sort of paladin deck and managed to kill them on turn 10 after a turn 9 voidlord. i'd killed both his doomguards and I was sure he would DK on turn 10, was really lucky to have a silence in hand to push through the last bit of damage. i'm actually considering working 2 into the deck if i face a lot of them.
Ofc it all depends on the skill of the player and the draw they get. With a less skilled player, if they don't draw the stalls in time they don't know all the different plays with the deck so they just focus on trying to get combo pieces and die.
I only look at the combo as a second mission within the deck. i play the control side and build the combo if I can, or just look for other ways to get damage with the combo pieces, while stalling and using voidlords where needed.
TBH the deck isn't that hard to pilot, just requires some practice.
Hit legend few days ago. Used 8 diffrend Decks. I really love this meta. Yeah, a lot of priests out there....but there are also warlock, Pala, Rogue, Mage and Druid.
how long it take you? I was thinking of maybe trying to rush to legend over the weekend as never done it before, and for once I have some of the top decks right now. have been too bust studying new cards and deckbuilding and stuff this month so I'm still at the bottom end of the ladder. I got rank 12 last month though just off a few hours playing, so I think I could hit legend if I actually was to sit down and play a lot of games.
I'm just not into grinding though and play more for fun. I would like the legend card back for my collection though.

for me, hitting legend isn't a requirement. As much as I would love to reach it, I want to have variety while on the grind. But with toutership issues for school and financial issues forcing me to play F2P when I don't want to, it's really hard to. And I feel like I'm gonna have to use a meta deck to compete. But if Blizzard ever changes the ranking system to something like Overwatch's, then I'n going tryhard at midnight (I swear that's a famous quote xD).
This is far from the worst meta! There are quite a few diverse decks that can reach legend. Druid, Paladin, Warlock, Hunter, Priest, Mage, Rogue.
I think Warrior and Shaman are the toughest classes right now but Control warrior and elemental shaman if piloted right could make legend. People complain because they like to complain. Usually complainers play the game A LOT and that is their problem.. take a break and don't play as much and the little things won't bother you.
One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
A never-Legend Dad who keeps making rank 2 or 1, but then sliding.
Rumbling around Gurubashi Arena. Shirvallah is the best loa. Go Tigers!

Dude i cannot pass 15.... i miss too many, if not almost all, of the new cards (f2p here)
