You totally missed my point. I do not care about these cards in special, the problem is that they changed their mind and made powercreeps possible. This will not be limited to Magma Rager and BBB, and at some point WILL make a difference. Look a Yu-Gi-Oh. The first set had cards that were good at the time released, that were horrible two years later, as they have been powerceeped A LOT. You can't rebalance cards that were printed, but you can in a pure digital CCG. There is just not a single reason for powercreeping if you can just rebalance the cards that already exist. It just increases the cardpool without adding more possibilities, without any benefits, without anything. There is no reason why completely superior cards should exist, period.
If you say that cards like BBB have no reason to exist anyway this is wrong, because it is just your opinion. New players with only basic cards actually will use BBB as it is not that horrible if you have no access to better cards. Also, new players do not realize instantly that Senjin is much better, because they don't know how important high health is for taunts.
It seems to me that they are probably concerned with buffing cards in general, and this move indicates that they are not interested in retooling old cards. This makes a certain degree of sense, I think. This is obviously just my opinion, but I have the feeling the community reaction to changing BBB to 4 mana and Magma Rager to a 5/2 instead of releasing these new cards would have a larger community backlash. People are upset about the power creep, but no one has really made the argument that these new cards will see play. So if they made this change to the old cards, everyone would just be asking what the point of the change was. Then they'd start to complain about other cards and say Blizzard should change them and why haven't they done it yet. Or they'd demand more changes to the updated Magma Rager and the BBB. When people ask for buffs, they are almost always saying "Make this card competitive" not "Make this card marginally better but still bad."
For me, this comes down to an issue of design space. The community perception of the purpose of a buff would be to make a card good, not just better. These new cards are better than the old ones, but not so good that they'll see any play. I feel that cards like this one are only going to exist in the form of new cards, as there would be little point in going through the trouble of buffing bad cards to slightly better cards. The power creep precedent has been set, yes, and perhaps it's not the best thing for the game, but I think setting a precedent for buffing now would probably be worse in the long run.
Also, BBB still can be potentially better in the Joust deck where you want expensive cards XD
This actually is the first and so far only valid argument for these cards. (...not the Joust part ;)) Still, then I wished they had added a tribe or a useless Battlecry (like deal one damage to both heroes) to them to dodge the powercreep, just to show they still care about not releasing purely better and better cards. Or like I already said, some kind of a Hobgoblin that works for 1 Health minions.
This is a community issue, personally I would highly appreachiate if the worst cards in the game would get some minor buffs that make them juuuuust a little better, talking about stuff like Hemet Nesingwary or Magma Rager, but I would not like buffs that would turn existing bad cards into staples.
I think this card is better than folks give it credit for. I could definitely see it finding a home in some taunt heavy decks.
Its reasonable, but shredder is the most popular 4 drop and it trades favorably into this guy while the ever present 4 drop weapons also give the heckler issues.
I couldn´t read all of this, but let me say one thing to the retards who say cards won´t be buffed.
Unleash the Hounds got changed from 4 mana to 2 mana and that is a buff, also it got changed to 3 mana afterwards and Blizzard did not lose face because of this.
I knew the people posting on this website were mostly morons but this is reaching a new level, those defending Blizzard are absolutely laughably stupid. There are absolutely ZERO reasons to create this card and Ice Rager, they could simply buff the old cards and give us 2 new ones instead, this is a waste of time. This business practice is unhealthy, lazy and has proven many times in the past to lead to eventual failures. People here have every reasons to be pissed off at Blizzard. Will it make me not play the game? F*ck no, but Blizzard should not get away with such obvious bullshit, it will probably get worse in the future. Those saying something along the lines of "Oh wow Blizzard are so greedy, 40 dusts to craft Kappa" just completely misses the point.
Magic the Gathering does the same, and that's still going strong after more than 20 years.
I would therefore humbly suggest that you are full of shit.

It was buffed during closed beta. All sorts of changes were going on then.
And for those who think cards WILL be buffed, there's this message from Ben Brode:
Slippery slope is just a lame excuse not to look to deep into the future. If I tell you that it might rain if I see clouds then that has nothing to do with slippery slope!
You're right - that doesn't have anything thing to do with the slippery slope fallacy. The message from HAL9000, however, does.
Interestingly, your post demonstrates another fallacy: A strawman argument.
Bad cards have a reason to exist, good cards have a reason to exist, therefore having both a 5/1 and 5/2 vanilla is valid, by your own train of thought.
@Topic
Maybe just because i am having a heavy mtg background, I prefere them not changing cards unless it actually breaks the game/enforces a banlist (and i would not mind a multi meta enviroment with different restrictions).
whats the point of bad cards, if there are their strictly better versions? And they said they dont want to buff cards out of fear of making them too strong and that they would require alot of internal testing etc. Which obviously doesnt apply HERE, since they are just happy to release those strictly better versions instead of making the terrible cards more relevant, if not for constructed, then atleast for arena

But is Magic the Gathering better or worse for it?
I say worse. By far:
There's a reason I'm playing Hearthstone instead of Magic right now -- and that is that I'm fed up with powercreep, cost creep and bad cards being printed for the sake of selling more packs, and being unable to play cards that I like because they're DESIGNED to be bad.
And that's exactly what bad cards in Hearthstone do as well: They increase the cost of playing, and they reduce the variety of cards you see in play.
I mean: Aren't there anyone else in here absolutely sick and tired of seeing the same decks over and over and over and over?
Trump has become unwatchable because he plays Patron: Draw, draw, draw, armor, draw, draw, rope, armor, draw, rope, armor, draw, rope, armor, rope, concede OR rope + combo
Why would they do that? Or are you embarking upon a "slippery slope" argument
Its just the natural evolution of Booty Bay Bodyguard and Magma Rager. As long as you have cheaper removal for creatures, their powerlevel is just fine.
Slippery slope is just a lame excuse not to look to deep into the future. If I tell you that it might rain if I see clouds then that has nothing to do with slippery slope!
Yeah but you are saying that a guy might become heroin addict because he is putting a spoon of sugar in his coffee. - Your doomsaying is absolutely out of scale given current events.
More like 'because he puts a couple of grams of heroin in his coffee'.

Grats on finding ONE example, especially a game that people who play real life TCGs are basically forced to play because it's the most popular one. Don't act like other TCGs don't have power creeping anyway.
Still, Blizzard didn't include power creep until now, I can appreciate that, I guess.
idc if it's power creep, but the artwork ist off. why this skinny necromancer?
He has Taunt because he's heckling the opponent... kinda like if you were in a fight with multiple people and kept talking the most shit you would likely be attacked first. It's really not that hard of a concept.

it got nerfed right afterwards because it was broken as shit buffed.
thats why they dont buff up cards.

so next edition we will get a CC3: 5/3 taunt?
