The thing though is that while combos are not unheard of, a good combo should either result in lethal or be devastating and this just isn't. 4dmg at turn 5 is minor, and 4 dmg at turn 8-9 is either minor or lethal but at turn 8-9 there are just so many ways to do 4 dmg that don't' involve a combo. That is what I think most people here are trying to say. FoN+Savage is a lethal combo, flamestrike/aoe+Dragon's Breath is not. *Could* it be good? Sure. But when people think of pulling off a two card combo this isn't usually what makes the pants tight.
Sorry your thinking here is just plain wrong. Just wrong. First of all, like i said before. This combo isn't flashy OMG WTF U DED. Nor is it supposed to be. It does exactly what I said it did, it allows you to keep pushing face while clearing the board. Traditionally mages had to choose one or the other and that is where they would win or loose. This allows them to do both and that is very important. If you don't recognize it, I am sorry but I question your experience with the Mage class. Combo's do NOT have to be crazy lethal to be good. 4-5 damage can mean the entire game at ANY point in the game. Damage is damage period. You need to stop looking at this card as something that should "make the pants tight" or some crazy combo. I am not claiming that, most people here are not claiming that. It's a decent card, that is all. You haven't argued against it being good card, you have only argued that it isn't an OP card. On that we can agree.
I really can't see the strenght of this card, For it to have value you need to have destroyed at least 2 minions and then more usually conumes a load of mana. If you get into the point where you can cast it for free usually you have no new target to hit except face, like in cases of flamestrike, which doesn't seem good part of the time, mage has better spells to go face with like fireball for cheaper. Concerning Dr. Boom saying on turn 7 you'll usually flamestrike and there is no real guarantee you'll kill 5 things usually just the boom bots, and if its about a turn 10 play well Dr Boom is strong as soon as he comes out on turn 7 most time and if your play can't deal with him at that time that doesn't make this card that great against him.
Turn 7 mage: Flamestrike, kill 6 minions (including some of your own),
Play 2 (maybe more, if u played duplicate already) FREE volcanic drakes, and 2 FREE dragon breaths.
GG!
And for the naysayers, holding these 2 cards until turn 7 will be TOTALLY fine in a dragon deck! Because most of the synergies need you to hold a dragon in hand anyway!! So just keep holding, until that magical Turn 7!!
1: You are talking about a 5-card combo. If you played any combo deck before, you should know that a combo like that needs a shitload of card-draw and stall, and it needs to guarantee lethal. Raging Worgen+Charge++ is one of them, Alexstrasza+burn spells of freeze mage is another. This, however, does not win you the game outright, and thus is not worth building around.
2: You rely on your opponent flooding the board on turn 7, as well as having minions on your own side of the board. A pure Flamestrike is usually enough to win in this situation, because he played really badly. Also, how are you going to have those exact cards in your hand AND board presence?? Sure, it can happen once in a blue moon with perfect draws, but please do not make a deck hoping for this scenario to ever happen.
One important thing about combo decks, they are used for a win condition and usually need to live long enough what this guy presents is just a combo that doesn't end the game outright and yes I agree with you that the conditions are also too high in general. And combos generally use cheap spells and minions to maximize damage this uses flame strike very costly and doesn't really seem to have a follow up after cus if you can play this for free what will you do with it that will matter?
Simply put, it doesn't seem that strong unless you do some crazy combo of frost nova + doomsayer the previous turn, followed up with a Archmage (or Malygos) + two Dragon Breaths to the face. All hoping that doomsayer doesn't get silenced.
To me, it seems very situational to be of much use outside of a crazy combo deck. Miracle Mage?
Have make some teoric test about this card and think that if no a top card is underrrated. Not only good with AOE cleaners but with a heavy minion exchange presence decks. It will work well with decks based in:

Is volcanic drake made for mage? Or is it made for druid poison seeds combo?!

-I make bad decks, Don't play them not that fun.

Maybe Volcanic Drake and Dragon's Breath are meant to be some kind of anti-swarm card?? The problem is that Goblin Blastmage, Blizzard and Flamestrike do a very good job against that strategy already.
