At first glace this card is bad, but when you think about the risk free spells some of the classes have it's actually not bad at all. You could put this in big priest, for example, and it could cast a shadow essence or free from amber buried in your deck, no targets necessary. As a mage it could cast ANY secret, or any of your AoE, or arcane intellect, or cabalists tome...the list goes on and on. It's not meta defining but it's somewhere between very good and playable if you have the right deck. Wonder how it would interact with the new mage elemental. Would you get the armor from the spell cast?
The only reason I see this being used is either exodia mage where you can get another ice block, blizzard, or cabalist tome, or in Hunter to get call of the wild or maybe some other new spell like crushing walls (but prob not). The stats are probably enough reason to not play the card tho
first of all can this work in a dead man hand deck secondly will it Jade is turn 8 to late to ramp it a guarantee card draw UI nuff said . Honestly warrior (brawl?), druid and priest are the only good class that won't get burn by this card, Hunter and Shaman are ok but overload and shit can miss
Crazy op card. Just for a second, taking a look at wild. Priest has Both light bomb and dragon fire which wouldn't kill this minion and possibly wipe your opponents field. Priest is a class where your hero power lets you gain board control and close out games with its powerhouse spells like Mind Control (enemy minion only) or even entomb (enemy minion only) and with Duskbreaker, we can get rid of low spells like SW: Pain or potion of madness. Leaving death in the deck. (Which can't hit grand archivist because of his 4 attack) I see this personally replacing primordial drake in some cases. Even in big priest, hitting a shadow essence or a shadow vision would be a decent play out of 8 mana. It would be a 9/12 for 8 (5/5+4/7) or a 4/7 that nets you a good spell off of visions. This card will see most play in priest I speculate because it has a low chance of failing (as long as it isn't combo like inner fire or flash priest) compared to other decks like mage (pyro blast your own face) or druids ultimate infestation (hitting your face) and burning cards, assuming you didnt hit a jade idol for a 1/1 instead. Or possibly your last copy of jade idol from entering fatuige. If it doesn't see play I'll craft it gold.
So the only class i can see this in is hunter with 2x Crushing walls 2x Cotw. but that deck is already heavy and Spitefull summoner is the winning condition so this seems to much. Maybe for 7 mana it could be considered but 8 no thx.
A problem I see with this card is that it's not only RNG-heavy (even if that RNG can be limited to some extent), but also situational. In certain scenarios at least, the outcome will depend on the state of the board. And in those cases, having only "good outcome" spells in your deck won't help much.
Say you're Priest and have Mind Control in your deck... what if opponent's board is empty, the moment MC is cast? Or they have some shitty minion and you get to MC that? You would have basically wasted one of your best cards.
Or you're Hunter and have Call of the Wild in your list. Some said to cut early/mid game spells (secrets, kill command...) in order to more reliably pull CotW. But then your deck will be minion-heavy, right? For CotW to work at its best you need 3 free spots on your side of the board, 4 spots remaining, of which one will be taken by Grand Archivist, so only 3 left available for use. Hence, with your minion-heavy deck, you have to restrain yourself in playing those minions, at least in the turn (or the turn before) you'll play Grand Archivist. Kind of anti-synergy, no? Or you could think of trading much, in preparation for the Archivist turn, but then again that might not always be possible. And it would be even worse if you have minions that on deathrattle spawn multiple off-spring (Savannah Highmane, Infested Wolf, Rat Pack).
...How? I think you would like to control precisely when your Defiles, Hellfires, and Twisting Nethers are cast, not to mention the Trolden possibilities from this casting Blastcrystal or Siphon on itself.
Yes exactly in this way. You will lose the spell as it is written in the description (but you might not have a solution in hand against aggro) so for control warlock it is not a bad card.
You realize that instead of putting this in your deck (which you could play finally turn 8), you could just add more removal. And why assume that it would play the right removal? With the spread of removal that is often played in control warlock, I would find it unlikely, especially with the possibility of targeting itself with single target removal.
I guess I see this card having the most potential with Big Priest, non-Aggro Druid, or Control Mage. I don't think that it would necessarily be worth cutting cards to include this though.
Im going to laugh the 1st few game were an evolve shamen get this and get his blood lust casted or jade lightning to his face for lethal. and curse his luck when the reverse happen (when they will get the right spell to give them lethal next turn).
This card is actually pretty good in the right deck. You can easily build a ramp druid that works with this, or a minion-based elemental mage deck with keleseth and lots of tempo plays. I think there might even be a good Hunter deck hidden in there too. Even a 3-cost spell (like a mage secret) with no target is value. Even Jade Druid can theoretically run this. Though it probably has to give up its removal tools, which is kind of a problem.
There's so many interesting deckbuilding challenges in this expansion.
i keep seeing people saying this would be great with COTW for hunter....i just don't see it being there though. it pulls it at the end of your turn losing you the 5 damage from huffer. sure, you'll get the whole crew, but i just don't see it being better than COTW as your turn.

In it for the memes. Because that one card from ungoro that did this saw a lot of play.

Fits rather easily with Jade Druid.

Too random.
U need soo many big spells that can only target your opponent or are secrets to make this work.
too many targeting spells.
I say its just too meh.
Boy...The rng is f*cking TREMENDOUS in this expansion. Lets be honest this card is bad thou.

The light shall burn you!
Play free from amber and mind control in your deck and this might be good.

This card is complete garbage. You could make some interesting decks around it had it not also removed the spell from your deck.
Spirits be with you man !

Could be deceptively OP but probably too limiting to build a deck around. One to keep an eye out for in the future. I like it.

Seems like a more dangerous version of Tortollan Primalist
I feel like they are actively trolling with all this RNG. And I say this as a fan of RNG. It would probably do alright in an AOE deck though, I guess.
