This is the kind of two drop that priest needed imo. It synergizes well with our class 1 drop, the northshire cleric and, in later turns could situationally be equated to a card like violet teacher when combo'd with wild pyromancer. It may even justify greedier cards like holy champion and lightwell to playability.
Circle priest could be a thing again, with a strong combo oriented midgame like how oil rogue used to work. It's honestly an exciting possibility, but the only thing that i dont like is that once again priests dont have a very good draw engine while resorting to inconsistent combo strategies that have limited the class' competitiveness. This is further accentuated by the push for kabal as a highlander deck archetype.
I think what some people are forgetting or overlooking is that this card requires attention. You're gonna have to deal with it instead of ignoring the value it could bring for priest like most players normally do against priest.
At the very least, it's a 3 health meat shield from your face. This card will definitely slow the meta down. I don't see why people would compare it to River Crocolisk or Amani Berserker. More than likely, you will ignore both of those minions as either A.) you don't want to lose the value of your own minion for the sake of getting rid of them, or B.) you don't want to allow berserkers enrage to activate.
To add onto Amani Berserker, you can't even heal him or else you lose the enrage. At least Mana Geode gives you a 2/2. So with that said, now your opponent has to use a quality removal spell or minion, and sometimes weapon to get rid of a card that could otherwise snowball out of control. River Crocolisk [/card]and [card]amani berserker don't do that.
Mana Geode is at least a very good card. Playable for sure. Doesn't need to be meta-defining. It's probably a little overhyped currently as people just look at his effect and think "Gosh that's insane snowball potential", but most of the hype is well worth it. Again, ignore it, and face the penalties that come with it. Deal with it, and that slows you down just enough for priest to stay in the race for board control.
While I wouldn't say this card is downright OP, it is a really good priest card. The reason priest isn't great is that they have no effective early game minions to fight for the board with. This card will definitely fill that niche.
You hit the nail on the head there. Mistress of Mixtures definitely increases the potential of this card. It also uses up removal that would otherwise be used on Mana Geode. I think the combination of early drops is what makes this card viable. Plus it gives you another use for Wild PyromancerCircle of Healing shenanigans. And even if you don't get effect value, it eats removal priest otherwise wouldn't have used up from their opponent until much later.
Juggler rarely sees play on two unless it's your only option and in the sort of decks that run juggler that is very rare.
I was actually meaning Cult Sorcerer but the Cultist battlecry doesn't get immediate value either anyway, in fact its probably the slowest of all the 2 drops mentioned including this card.
The point is all those minions can be held but are often played for potential value or even sacrificing value because simply playing something is better than nothing. I.e. the argument that if a card doesn't get immediate value on turn two its bad or below average is plain wrong.
Well it's a good thing I am not arguing that if a card doesn't get immediate value on turn two it's bad then isn't it. Cult Sorc immediately impacts the board with spell power. Even on two when it's dropped you can coin out missiles or even an arcane blast. As far as Cultist goes, it doesn't matter if it's slow, it's battlecry has already gained you value and there is literally nothing the opponent can do to prevent that.
Again I will reiterate it. This card isn't "bad" but it's not "very good" either. It's playable, at least in my opinion and at this stage.
Wow, still mostly positive posts. Sorry, most of the time this will just be a River Crocolisk. It needed to be able to do something the turn it was played. Change the trigger mechanism to that of Northshire Cleric and then we're talking. Even toned down as "whenever a friendly minion is healed" and that would have still been fine. Would have value later in the game, especially if you've already played Raza.
As my favorite class is Priest I definitely want this card to be better but I just can't envision ever playing it unless I Discover it or something similar.
@faustonauta that's an... interesting take. This is absolutely a control card since it's not remotely going to murder anyone anytime soon, it's just going to be annoying and buy you board presence (sometimes, but generally rarely); I think it does get better with PW:S or the new 3-drop, so *maybe* we see a Midrange or Tempo Priest variant... but even then I'd say this card would be hard pressed to make the cut.
Combining it with everything you listed doesn't seem worth a bunch of 2/1s honestly (which is what most of the experienced players are foreseeing). It doesn't even seem worth it to ASPIRE to get that combo off, because generally you want to be keeping those pieces for something important.
We've also gotten Control cards; Dragonfire Potion and Raza are extremely potent, not to mention mini-Shadow Madness and super-Shrinkmeister. So I don't know what Control Priest you're looking for... but it looks like it's back, and it's got a lot of great tools. For non-Reno players I imagine we'll also see a Control Dragon list soon enough, and standard Control lists are probably going to be floating around as well. Will they be top tier? I dunno, but I don't think anyone can claim they aren't getting cards to support those archetypes.

^ the think the more important part of the combo mentioned above is the mega card draw.
I'm not sure even that's quite worth it over just having Northshire/Pyro/Circle and literally any other minion. You'd get what, one or two extra cards (admittedly, not a small thing)? Undoubtedly it makes the card draw in the combo better, but you're also still dedicating 1-2 slots to a 2-drop that may have minimal impact when Control Priest is a pretty tight list generally. Even now Cleric and potentially Circle are looking like questionable picks now that we'll have 3 standalone board clears.
It's similar to old Recombobulator lists where you could generally use it with Shadow Madness and Cabal to squeak out a little extra value and have a tempo play when you needed it; in that list it was just established that while Recombobulator wasn't necessarily bad it just didn't do enough to warrant the slot in the list. This card is playable enough that it could be a similar case and see a lot of testing, but this is how I'm currently looking at the situation. You'll do cool things with this occasionally but not enough to justify the slots needed.
Once again I see no reason *not* to test the card, but my current valuation just makes me think that unless we see a Tempo/Midrange list that wants to curve out (a la Chinese Priest) this card may just be the new Holy Champion. Not objectively bad overall, but likely to not see play once the testing is over.

And so I've played with this card for a while and I'm now retiring it. As I feared most of the time this is just a River Crocolisk. It should have been worded the same as Northshire Cleric. This would not have made the card broken; heck, Cleric is no longer an auto-include in Priest decks. And drawing a card is much more valuable than a featureless 2/2 minion. But it would have meant that it could actually be a productive play rather than hope that it survives until the next turn.

Yeah I fight this often and almost every time its not a big deal. Its nice that you can drop it on turn two but if your opponent snowballs it its because it was your fault.

And this is the key reason why Priest was improved but didn't reach Tier 1 with MSoG. This wasn't the droid, er card, we were looking for.

I think Mana Geode makes Mistress of Mixtures more valuable to priest. You play that on turn 1 and now those pesky 3/2 become irrelevant to your Mana Geode.

"I wield the power of Blackwing."
Also, it makes playing Northshire Cleric turn 1 less punishing.
Darkshire Alchemist is 5 mana.
I agree with your points though. I don't think Mana Geode will see any competitive play.

if they ever release more buffs in stadart this may be awesome, otherwise nice arena card
I'm super curious. Could be really OP, even a vanilla 2/3 is not a terrible play
