I do agree the card is very versatile but paying 1 mana for 1 damage its a bad trade off.
I'd like to see how it works with spell power tho.
If doubles the damage per mana crystal i'll change my mind.
The strength of the card is that it fills out the mana curve no matter what. So yes, it's always a tempo loss when played alone, but if you would have no play with that last 3 mana anyways after you drop your 7-drop, then it's a tempo gain.
This card is so pathetic its sad. I mean in relation to the Pyroblast. They could have easily made this card target face as well (and u cant spell power buff it so it would not be that OP, it would be just versatile, which is great), but on 10 mana this card IS a pyroblast, so whats the point of having a pyroblast other then having potentially 4 of them in the deck? So cause they dont want to have "utterly useless" old class epic noone would ever ever ever play, they made kinda shitty new class epic, instead of an awesome card that could have had such potential :F Sad.
In real I didn't like it, should be any target, not only minions, because basically you're paying the same mana for the same amount of damage, if you compare to flame lance. The good think is that you can control the damage you deal and its cost, so this can and I think it'll be a good card, because for example, flame lance will ALWAYS deals 8 damage for 5 cost, if you want for exemple to use on a minion with 3 life, this is much better.
at first I was okay by the card, thinking it was about if you used all your mana prior to this card on the turn the more damage that can be dealt with the spell so like you place down flamewaker on turn 3 and now this turns into a 0 mana 3 dmg spell...now that I read the blue post and took a few minutes to understand the spell and how the spell works...its meh at best...can't see this being used outside arena and tempo mage...
I feel like the people complaining about curves and efficiency and mana budgets have never actually played this game.
EVERYONE floats some mana now and then. Everyone. That's why these Forbidden cards were designed.
As for the "Doesn't hit face" complaint, I have to wonder, when was the last time you won a game as Mage without ever casting a single spell at a minion? This spell allows you to kill a minion, freeing up other spells for face damage.

This card is a little weak compare to Forbidden Shaping, but Mage already have Op spell so it doesn't matter. I just wonder if this card can hit Face, will it be Op?
I think the naysayers are really sleeping on this mechanic. I even wonder if skilled players will like it because the more options they have on any given turn the more their skill affects the game.
Too bad they're epic, these would be bonkers in arena.
shit card why would you play this its a 4 mana deal 4 damage its a 7 mana deal 7 damage fire ball 4 mana deal 6 damage and you can hit face this card is useless also shit in arena to just free dust if you get it
Because you can play it any time you want! Haven't we learned the value of tempo and curve? This has to trade some value for the flexibility it brings. Want to wipe out a 3/3 on turn 3, do it. A fireball is useless for 3 turns, this is an option the whole time. Plus as games go late you always leave mana on the table, this can fill it in nicely.
Completely reasonable, but far too balanced to see play outside of maybe a wonky tempo mage I guess. In arena, I really don't mind a mana sink like this.
This card essentially makes you overpay for the flexibility. I think a single copy could possibly fit into the tempo mage archetype for the following reasons: 1) It will work decently enough as a early game removal. *Although you will sometimes not be able to use it because it will be a bit more clunky. 2) It can always count as a spell to be chucked into a flamewaker combo, which is the strongest play tempo mage has. I'm thinking something like turn 4 flamewaker deal one damage and trigger the waker effect. you'll also have the other buffs from manawyrm and the archmage, too.

This last reason, combined with the fact that you have the flexibility that it is NEVER a dead card, could make this a very powerful card. It definitely has potential in my mind.
Will also be interesting with the Ethereal Conjurer, since it's effectively doubled your chance to discover Pyroblast type effects, this will likely be the biggest change to the game of having the card. So I see this as a buff to the conjurer in a tempo mage context.
it can only target minions...so no pyro to the face...would be good in arena if you need to take down a huge minion and have 8+ mana. Definitely will be at least tried out in tempo mage decks.
Am I full of bullshit or I'm missing something, please tell me
While it is worse than all of those cards, it IS all of those cards. That's the value. The value of the card isn't that it gets good damage per mana, it's that you can choose how much damage and mana you spend on it.

If it could be used on face then maybe. Really an epic that's worse then the removal we have for mage.
This is horribly inefficient. It's neither a tempo or a value play. It's a combo piece with some flexibility. It's still terrible though.
Nope.
Why can't they stop making trash epics?
