This season was the first time I tried to climb in wild mode. It was fun for the most part, but I have encountered something that was unsettling for me, standard decks.
Now, I know you can play whatever you want in wild, and have every right to do so, but something in that really ticks me off and I can't put my finger on it.
I was wondering if anybody else feels that way and can help me understand why I am bothered by it.
You expect to get a different gameplay experience in wild with different cards and thus decks. If people are playing Standard decks that experience is not there. I definitely agree with you about this. I'm also sure that after a while wild decks will be different enough from standard.
I friended a pirate warrior around rank 2 this season because I queued into him 3 times and to suggest he run Fel Reaver over Bittertide Hydra in his deck. This guy turned out to be low legend in standard and he confessed he was using the exactly same deck without even Ship's Cannon. He just wanted to see if he could reach legend in wild for the first time
Personally, I don't mind when people do this. Fun in HS for me usually is refining and winning with meme decks I created. His deck is inferior to a perfect wild pirate warrior and therefore easier to beat. Focus more on what you're playing and worry less about what the opponent is doing, it's probably healthier for your stress levels
... Then again, I'm not bothered by pirate warriors either, so maybe I'm a little weird
I mean, it shouldn't really be too bothersome for anyone to see a standard deck in wild, seeing as it means they're probably playing a suboptimal list as a result of not using wild cards. The only exception I can think of might be Jade Druid which might be close to if not completely the same list between wild and standard, depending on your preferences. So yeah, I'd be glad to see a pure standard deck in wild, since it means I'm basically fighting a musket with, well, a Ship's Cannon
Most wild decks are standard decks with 2-4 wild cards. This will slowly change with each additional rotation. Next rotation, jades and pirates will be wild only. Also many newer players own no wild cards so they just take their standard deck to wild and see how high they can rank there.
the card pool isn't really big enough to make wild unique yet, give it a couple years and wild will be significantly different then standard....much like modern is in magic.
I agree. I made a similar thread, but people just called me a bitch and to get over it. I’m glad you aren’t getting that treatment.
I recently started playing wild as well, and I’m sick of seeing the same dam decks I saw in standard. Makes no sense to me either.
I wont call you a bitch but I really disagree with you and with OP. If someone is bringing Standart deck into Wild, they are usually getting f...ed. Raza Priest is destroyed by Reno Priest variations(They dont even have to be burn one, they can even run Quest), Cubelock is getting raped by Wild Cubelock with Mal'ganis, Sylvanna and N'zoth. Big Priest is getting uselles situational Death Knight card from Lich King while Wild Big Priest is laughing at him and doing a good amount of damage with Ragnaroses which he ressurected with Resurrect. I mean, you get my point. Standart decks will be even weaker in Wild after rotation in April happens.

All decks are wild, but only some decks are Standard.
You have a good point there. Well said. Thx.
Makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one :)
Oh this thread again

Well, never seen a thread like this before, sorry about that.
Lol.
Like I said, it was fun for the most part, mainly because I experimented a lot and still managed to cling pretty well.
I was just wondering why would people do that and you gave me another angle to think about. Tnx.

Fuck all of you playing Standard decks in Wild.
