Playing the deck now without the rat packs and with -1 hound master. +1 animal companion, buzzard and infested wolf. The crazy part is how great buzzard is. With Kindly grandmother, snake trap, infested wolf, Savannah Highmane and unleash there are tons of ways to make it work. Partnered with Cult Master to draw on death and Barnes to energize with everything but houndmaster the deck is really good.
I will post some muligan strategies if there is interest but the mulligan is basically the same as secret hunter except you keep one of you draw engines vs control.
Cult Master I could understand, but why play another one that costs 1 more and has even less stats? When your class card is outmatched by a neutral one, you can pretty much say without a doubt that it's terrible.
might just be that Secret Hunter is good and the Buzzard has nothing to do with it ;) the deck seems to generate a lot of tokens, so with some buffing method or Scavenging Hyena it might be even better

Cult Master only trigger once when you crash your Infested Wolf/savannah higmane/Rat Pack, whereas Buzzard get you 2 draw, and makes it easier to get subsequent ones (if you happen to run 1 mana beast like Fiery Bat, that is...)
Sure, Starving Buzzard doesn't require you to trade, but that still hardly justifies the cost. Besides, if you have a deck entirely based around tokens, chances are you have something to trade most of the time anyway. The point of most of those token cards is to be hard to remove, and if you still can't get a board, Buzzard isn't going to help you that much anyway. since the body is so small and it takes more mana to combo.

Secret Hunter is strong as a shell. The potential weakness of secret hunter is that it runs out of steam. Starving buzzard, in practice, in this deck averages 2.5 draws. Most often it draws with deathrattles. But it also does wonders when an opponent plays around traps by not attacking. Then you buzzard+unleash and refuel. To be good value buzzard just needs to draw 2 cards. And then it is still a big threat. It takes skill but you can play your deathrattles and secrets tactically to very nearly guarantee great value. Also it pairs well with Cult Master because you generate a lot of tokens which get you value on trades. Give it a try, I think you might be surprised.
To me Card draw is the #1 issue with Hunter, even more so with Secret hunter where you can make some powerful early plays, but they aren't good because you simply run out of steam. With a great draw engine it could push the deck to the next level, and with all these tokens available cult master becomes WAY better. You add 2 cult masters and one buzzard in my opinion to keep the engine going and increase consistency of drawing into the card draw engine.
I agree. I have been fiddling around with what secrets work best. Cat trick, freeze trap and snakes are all for sure 2-ofs. Bear trap and snipe have also shown good value. Explosive was really disappointing me of late but maybe the real weak link is the secret keepers. They seem good but in practice they almost never do anything. Time for more experimenting.
I would agree with the keepers... When they are amazing they are great but a lot of times they don't do much.... Though the gain from drawing out removal can sometimes be good.
I find it funny how many people who post in this thread don't seem to have looked at nevermind have played the deck I made. The reason buzzard always seemed so bad was because to get value from it you had to play it with other minions. This would mean turn 8+. But in this deck it is quite common to play buzzard turn 5 and draw up to 3 cards with the deathrattles of a kindly grandmother and infested wolf. On turn 7 you can get a great trade with a highmane and then play a grandmother again resulting in 3 cards. Finally some decks rely on minion trades and then dropping a buzzard into a board with a snake trap often means 3 cards too. 5 mana draw 3 and play a 3/2 beast that is a must remove is the point at which buzzard becomes broken, not just playable.
Ok so this deck is actually amazing

I like it, I'm gonna try this when we get those new cards!
What about getting a Juggler in there and possibly 2 infested Wolves? maybe get rid of Snipe and something else?

Nice! I'm always glad to see decks that use rarely-used cards like Buzzard. It shows that some cards just need the right deck to shine. :)
Quit complaining and just have fun with this game!

I dropped 1 keeper for a second cult master. Still doing well. Still loving buzzard and I love it more off Barnes.
Buzzard is a good card, it might end up becoming more popular if a decent synergy is found.
However currently people are stuck in a mindset that the hunters are "quick victory or bust" type.
Aka a moment Buzzard could be played to draw stuff would mean that match has dragged on and the match is likely lost.
I'm convinced that Buzzard will be atleast a one-of in nearly every Hunter deck (except for Secret or Face Hunter).

trade with wolf? . . . trade with highmane? . . .
why

The majority of face damage in this deck comes from eaglehorn bow and hero power. Minion damage is usually incidental or for lethal.
please no more Starving Buzzard Unleash combo. I get PTSD thinking about it.
