Hello everyone! I'm Spark, Legend player from France. Today I wanted to share with you my updated Control Shaman, which is designed to beat consistently Aggro decks while still keeping up against Reno decks.
As always, it runs the full set of board clears to annihilate the swarm of aggro decks. You also have access to a solid healing potential thanks to Healing Wave and Hallazeal the Ascended. On top of that, I'm also running Earth Elemental with a single Ancestral Spirit to prevent further aggression.
With all the overload cards in the deck, Lava Shock is a natural choice to compensate the downside while adding a little bit of damage to control some minions. Lightning Bolt help dealing with early aggression and Hex is obviously here to deal with stronger threats.
Besides the standard set of Control tools, I chose to run something different from my previous N'Zoth, the Corruptor variant. This time I'm using Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound instead!
As I want to optimize the chance of getting a solid Barnes play, the deck almost only runs valuable targets for it! That's why I chose to run Ancestral Knowledge and Feral Spirit instead of Azure Drake and Thing from Below.
To make use of Barnes and Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound, I chose to run solid win conditions : White Eyes, Emperor Thaurissan, Sylvanas Windrunner, Ragnaros the Firelord and Ysera.
Update
As the Miracle Rogue matchup felt really annoying and Aggro Shaman gave me a little bit more issue than expected in the long run, I tweaked the deck a little bit.
I'm now running Devolve to deal better with Miracle Rogue boards and Shaman Aggro when you can't really clear them properly.
Stormcrack comes in to deal with 4-health minions such as Totem Golem and Azure Drake.
Finally, I added the second Ancestral Spirit for its synergy with the win conditions and Barnes summoning mechanic.
Replacements
Please don't ask for replacements, I know the deck is pretty expensive but it's just impossible to find similar win conditions in term of value and synergy.
However, If you only lack 2 of the final conditions, it is possible to replace them with a combination of Cairne Bloodhoof and N'Zoth, the Corruptor. And if you only lack one you can run this set up as well by giving up on Ancestral Spirit. Malygos is also a fine win condition although a bit more situational.
Matchups & Mulligan
I've written a full in-depth guide about the deck at Good Gaming. I definitely recommend to give it a check if you want to learn how to pilot the deck properly.

Results
I'm eating Aggro decks all day long with this build and Reno decks aren't really an issue. Jade Druid is obviously an awful matchups as the Jade Golem are just getting out of Control.
I hit Legend on EU during S34 using mostly this deck. Here are my win-rates :
Gameplay Video
Here is a cool win streak I've had on stream facing some aggro decks and a renolock (french commentary)
Bonus : N'Zoth Jade Variant
As a bonus, here is my other Control Shaman build, which is centered around N'Zoth and Jade synergies : Jade Zoth Control Shaman
The deck also counters pretty well aggro decks but feels slightly less efficient to me, feel free to try it as well ;)
Closing
I hope you'll enjoy the deck as much as I do and maybe it can help you reach Legend this season. Don't forget to show your support by upvoting the deck if you liked and don't hesitate to discuss about it or ask any question in the comment section below ;)

Al'Akir doesn't fit much as you have no buff for him and it doesn't really synergize with Barnes and Y'Shaarj
Replacing one Knowledge with Far Sight could be fine, somewhat better against Aggro I'd say. However I prefer more draw for Reno matchups
Awesome, thanks again :D
Deck très fiable et solide. Beau travail Spark !
Sparkaz, ty very much for this deck.
It's such a big pleasure to play (and win) with such solid control deck having fun so much fun during process.
You're welcome! Thanks a lot for the positive feedback I'm really happy to give you guys the fun you need :D
I've done pretty well against most archetypes but the majority of my defeats are against reno mage (currently my match-up against reno mage is 3-4). Is reno mage just an unfavorable match-up?
I think the update helps a lot in that matchup because once you bait Polymorph you are free to go with Ancestral Spirit and they can't deal with it (my experience from today gameplay mostly)
Yeah it just feels a lot better to deal with various situations, helps in the harder matchups :)
Honestly none =/
He doesn't go with Barnes and Y'Shaarj and he is too unreliable since the nerf. If you really want to include him, I guess you have to find the spot for it (maybe the second ancestral spirit, i don't know)
Having a lot of fun with this deck. Definitely going to give the updated version a try. I do think devolve is really strong right now.
Yep I feel like the harder matchups are now way better :)
Well if you don't face aggro this swap is fine indeed xD
Hey Spark thanks for bringing up this deck. I am having fun with it and smashing trough the ranks. However I do not have dust for Y'sharaj and white eyes, so I have put devolve and dirty rat instead. My problem now is even when I get the dust to craft them I would still like to leave at least the devolve in the deck. Do you have any suggestion for what could be cut for devolve?
P.S.
Currently scoring a 73% winrate with this.
If I had to cut something for devolve it would be ancestral spirit or a feral spirit maybe
I was also thinking of the feral spirit, because I think the ancestral is an awesome card with many synergies both against aggro and control, and is a good exploit to the fact that not many decks in the current meta run more than one silence or silence like card.
Yup! As you can see, I updated the list in the end :P
greediest deck ever 0 chance vs aggro LUL
Yeah ofc, impossible to beat aggro ... 21-5 against Control Shaman and 13-1 against Control Warrior obviously!
