Hello everyone! I'm Spark, Legend player from France. Today I wanted to share with you my updated Control Shaman, which is designed to beat consistently Aggro decks while still keeping up against Reno decks.
As always, it runs the full set of board clears to annihilate the swarm of aggro decks. You also have access to a solid healing potential thanks to Healing Wave and Hallazeal the Ascended. On top of that, I'm also running Earth Elemental with a single Ancestral Spirit to prevent further aggression.
With all the overload cards in the deck, Lava Shock is a natural choice to compensate the downside while adding a little bit of damage to control some minions. Lightning Bolt help dealing with early aggression and Hex is obviously here to deal with stronger threats.
Besides the standard set of Control tools, I chose to run something different from my previous N'Zoth, the Corruptor variant. This time I'm using Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound instead!
As I want to optimize the chance of getting a solid Barnes play, the deck almost only runs valuable targets for it! That's why I chose to run Ancestral Knowledge and Feral Spirit instead of Azure Drake and Thing from Below.
To make use of Barnes and Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound, I chose to run solid win conditions : White Eyes, Emperor Thaurissan, Sylvanas Windrunner, Ragnaros the Firelord and Ysera.
Update
As the Miracle Rogue matchup felt really annoying and Aggro Shaman gave me a little bit more issue than expected in the long run, I tweaked the deck a little bit.
I'm now running Devolve to deal better with Miracle Rogue boards and Shaman Aggro when you can't really clear them properly.
Stormcrack comes in to deal with 4-health minions such as Totem Golem and Azure Drake.
Finally, I added the second Ancestral Spirit for its synergy with the win conditions and Barnes summoning mechanic.
Replacements
Please don't ask for replacements, I know the deck is pretty expensive but it's just impossible to find similar win conditions in term of value and synergy.
However, If you only lack 2 of the final conditions, it is possible to replace them with a combination of Cairne Bloodhoof and N'Zoth, the Corruptor. And if you only lack one you can run this set up as well by giving up on Ancestral Spirit. Malygos is also a fine win condition although a bit more situational.
Matchups & Mulligan
I've written a full in-depth guide about the deck at Good Gaming. I definitely recommend to give it a check if you want to learn how to pilot the deck properly.

Results
I'm eating Aggro decks all day long with this build and Reno decks aren't really an issue. Jade Druid is obviously an awful matchups as the Jade Golem are just getting out of Control.
I hit Legend on EU during S34 using mostly this deck. Here are my win-rates :
Gameplay Video
Here is a cool win streak I've had on stream facing some aggro decks and a renolock (french commentary)
Bonus : N'Zoth Jade Variant
As a bonus, here is my other Control Shaman build, which is centered around N'Zoth and Jade synergies : Jade Zoth Control Shaman
The deck also counters pretty well aggro decks but feels slightly less efficient to me, feel free to try it as well ;)
Closing
I hope you'll enjoy the deck as much as I do and maybe it can help you reach Legend this season. Don't forget to show your support by upvoting the deck if you liked and don't hesitate to discuss about it or ask any question in the comment section below ;)

Look at the write-up ;) You can get away with a N'Zoth variant, no problem about that ;)
You really lack too much here honestly. here are the priority if you want to play control Shaman :
1. Elemental Destruction : mandatory to control the board
2. Earth Elemental : needed against current aggro decks
3. White Eyes : solid card overall
4. Hallazeal : powerful healing option
5. Y'Shaarj : not needed, you can run N'Zoth variant with good results
Overall I wouldn't recommend crafting a wallet deck for people running on a budget, but if you're interested these are your priorities ;)
Ahah well it's pretty unexpected :P
Thanks
do you recommend crafting y'shaarj and 2 earth elementals? i really like the concept of control shaman and seeing so many satisfied people with deck encourages me to try out this and get rank 5 maybe but maybe legend :D
Earth Elemental is kinda mandatory for Control Shaman and good card overall. Y'Shaarj won't get too much use besides this deck, so if you're on a budget you should probably not craft it
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoy
Thanks a lot for the feedback, glad you enjoy !
faced this deck on ladder (rank1) for the first time yesterday with my reno priest and lost hard so this is for sure a good one ! :D
Well Reno Priest can be though sometimes, but overall that's a fine matchup :P
Im playing the same deck, but with 2x Far Sight instead of 2x Ancestral Knowledge. Why do you think Ancestral Knowledge its better? I think this deck is already full of overload cards, and you can only play Ancestral Knowledge with a clear board, otherwise you get punished really hard next turn. Far sight's cost is higher, but it has potential to give you tempo next turn, depending on what you draw. Thank you for the guide.
I prefer Ancestral Knowledge to generate CA, which can be needed later in the game. Far Sight doesn't generate CA so I don't like it so much in this deck although the effect can be useful sometimes
really nice deck with a very unique play style; i am missing White Eyes and made no effort to replace his role but added an Earth Shock and its been working great. I will probably craft White Eyes as soon as i can though.
Nice! Thanks for the feedback
Ok, so i'm here again to thank you for making this deck, it happens to me quite rarely. However, thanks to You sir i achieved rank 5 this horrible, horrible season (worst/toughest season i recall), so in order to show my gratitude, i give you this:
I've tried everything, renolock, renomage, aggro/midrange/hybrid shamans, pirate/control warriors, dragon priest, miracle rogue, just EVERY Fkin DECK out there to just get through rank 9 The games were just riddiculous, non-stop back-and-forth with aforementioned decks, ranking, then deranking. I was just getting sick of this game, once i reached last star of rank 7.... POW! - derank back to 8 because of shit ton of aggro face decks obliberating me turn 6. This dumbest season almost made me uninstall the game, i'm dead serious. I hate to play aggro and love to play midrange and control decks, but also after few card releases i just piss on shaman class, i played it controlish-style long ago yet i wasn't satisfied with the results and abandoned this class, until today(yesterday to be more specific[GMT+1]) I said to myself that i have nothing to lose and probably will still derank hard. It turned out i was sooooo wrong. Crushing aggro and reno decks i reached rank 5** with Your deck, for this i am very greatful and wish you all the best in the Hearthstone scene, especially deckbuilding because you are doing it right =) Cheers!
Oww so cute <3
Thanks a lot for the feedback, I'm very glad this deck helped you finding back the fun and motivation to keep playing Hearthstone ;)
Have a good day and good luck !
Thanks for the feedback, have fun !
Currently trying this out in casual to get the feel of the deck , doing well so far just wanted to say I am really enjoying this deck and thanks so much for sharing, will let you know how it goes in ranked, cheers!
Nice, one of the rare smart people practicing in Casual before going to Ranked :D Thanks for the feedback, good luck for the climb ;)
Best replacement for White Eyes?
Nothing as good, check the description ;)
