Blizzard Q4 2014 Earnings Report
Hearthstone is sitting at 25 million registered players, up from the previously announced 20 million back in September of last year. This is much lower than the recent "industry insider" claim of 75 million players. Check out the full Q4 2014 Earnings Press Release.
- More Hearthstone content this year.
- Android and iOS Phone versions are upcoming.
Looking back at this I wonder how high the number will go.
i like trains
At least they know we're serious about our cards!
I love how this is one of the shortest news posts on the website and it has over 30 responses in just a few days! Also, that's a lot of Hearthstone players. The more people playing the more people paying! More money = Better game.
Except they're only counting accounts, not a. how many people are actually actively playing (so probably divide in half) and b. how many of them have actually spent money on the game (so probably divide in half again).
I'm not an idiot hahaha. More people that play, more likely they are to make money. Its pretty simple science. Despite the activity of this news feed the comments all seem to be getting hated on which I don't understand in the slightest. I didn't say anything worth downvoting but ok people
Really hoping for an Android phone release soon. Though, trying out a "patched" version of the tablet version, it seems my two-year-old smartphone is too old to run it anyway.
Do they usually announce something at Pax East or have they previously announced they'll announce something at pax?
They have not made an official announcement about PAX East. They did announce the Curse of Naxxramas at last year's PAX East though, so there is some hope ;)
Most excellent, thanks!
That, or more classes; Deathknight, Monk, and my personal idea... Mechanic.
Man, some of you guys are greedy as hell. 2 adventures and 2 expansions? they did 1 and 1 this past year. I think it will be a similar strategy. they will release an adventure wing in the spring or summer sometime and then announce the next full expansion at blizzcon and release it in december.
While also developing the mobile versions and the main PC version ready for official release... So yeah it's useless to compare the past year to anything. At least 2 expansions is minimum per year since it was already getting stale as hell with just 1 and 1 last year.
It was getting stale because people played witht the same cards during beta as well. So it took close to a year until 30 new cards were added. this year it is different. I still see a lo potential to new deck arsing and them still do and change and shift. There is a lot potential with GvG cards right now.
OK yeah they were doing all the mobile applications but I dont think that will be a factor in content. They couldnt possibly keep up with the demand for new content. People beat the adventures within minutes of release and it got boring real quick. no real replay value. Felt more like a chore or an obligation to get the cards then actually being fun. I dont see full 100+ card expansions being done twice this year. There is coming up with new cards and mechanics, as well as balancing issues. If you overwhelm the market it can discourage players because they will feel like they cant get the cards. I honestly feel like they will release things on a set schedule. an adventure in the spring/summer and a main expansion around christmas time. Maybe 2 adventures depending on how the first one goes
Ok. I guess I meant 2 card sets. I am only expecting 2 small card sets and 1 or 2 adventures. I don't think that's outrageous considering we got a Large and Small set last year. I think the time between the actual release, Naxxramas, and GvG is all the matters. The beta was a small segment of the player base comparatively. Now they have the functionality to add packs and run adventures. So they just need to code the cards, the board, and the bosses.
If they follow up each expansion with an adventure, we could expect 2 & 2, next up an adventure, then in a few months an expansion.
One 123 card expansion every 6 months is hardly asking for too much.
