Hearthstone Update for February Contains New Events, Possible Balance Changes
A new patch has been confirmed for next month which at the very least will contain some new "cool" events Ben Brode has confirmed earlier today via Twitter.
- If the team decides to make balance changes, that is the earliest any will happen.
- We wonder if this will include the arena-only cards for future usage.
Is there anything specific you'd like to see changed in a possible balance update?
Quote from Ben BrodeBeen reading discussions about balance; we have an update coming next month which includes some cool events, and that is when any balance changes would happen. We'll be sure to announce any changes as the patch gets closer. See you at the HCT World Championship next week!
Well it would be the first time... But maybe they could just rework some classic cards. But i think they ll never do it. Because new expansions sell better.
Not quite the first time, they did buff Naga Sea Witch. But I agree that they're probably never going to do it with a Basic/Classic card, even with one that's been turned into garbage by a badly thought out nerf.
Corridor Creeper to be only when your minions die
Kabal Lackey to be 6 mana
Call to Arms to be 4 mana recruit 2 minions
Kabal Lackey at six? Wrong card maybe?
Call to Arms for only 2 minions whould be trash imo. Make it cost 5 mana and it should be fine.
Change Lackys DR so it's only triggers on your turn, so you have to combo it for a save activation and you can't play it on turn five savly anymore, because the enemy can kill it without the DR effect.
Kabal Lackey? You mean Kabal Crystal Runner?
Here are some cards which I think will likely see balance changes:
- Corridor Creeper: too omnipresent, and being a very good epic it's not fun for F2P players. Increasing its cost or lowering its health to 4 would be a good start without getting rid of the "let's have a huge worm suddenly crawl around the corner" aesthetic the card has
- Southsea Captain: Patches will soon leave us, but this guy won't and he limits the design space of Pirates by being too oppressive. Let's at least take away his health aura, and he's way less annoying.
- Bonemare: A very powerful neutral common, it just needs some minor weakening to be less extreme. By lowering its buff to just give +3/+3 it's at best a 7 mana 8/8 rather than a 9/9
- Spellbreaker: the best Silence card in the game and I've been saying this ever since the war on Silence. He's just one mana more expensive than Ironbeak Owl and has +2/+2 stats. Either weaken him by -1/-1 or making it a 5 mana card would fix this.
- Cobalt Scalebane: yes, it's a good dragon, but it's too good. The decent statline and the strong buff it gives out make it a mainstay in so many decks. I love dragon decks too much to weaken him by much, but I'd recommend lowering the attack buff from +3 to +2 just to be sure.
- Jade Idol: Reduce the number of Idols it can shuffle into your deck from 3 to 2. Makes it easier to mill the deck and thus it'll be less capable at fatigue matches. Alternatively bump up the cost to 2 mana for those two months it'll still be in rotation after the February update hits, it'd REALLY shake up the meta that way and prevent Jade Druid to become a mainstay in Wild
Spellbreaker is fine, on others - reasonable thoughts.
Lol what? Spellbreaker is bad tho the only reason it sees play is because it’s a the ability to silence cards like Voidlord is really good and the stats are actually viabile for its mana cost/effect. Also how would nerfing captain change how powerful pirates are? The only reason are pirates really good is because patches is literally the best card in the game after patches is gone pirates in standard will die and captain will be a card the won’t see play again. Making captains effect a battle-cry will make it make in unplayable in general. As for bonemare and scalebane these cards can be played around and are bad on there own if they don’t have a target then what use do they have? I however do think corridor creeper needs a nerf it’s too good and too easy to play and feels too free it needs some sort of nerf.
Jade druid is ahrdly seen in wild, it's too slow for the format, i play a lot of wild and if you want to druid you pretty much have to go token druid.
Balance changes 3 months into the expansion lol
You're right, should've been way earlier.
I would think Creeper may get a nerf, maybe to mana reduction only when your own minions die. Otherwise, things honestly don't seem that bad. Hard to believe they would nerf Raza this close to rotation.
Fuck .. yesterday dust a copy of corredor creeper
why would you ever dust a creeper
with pending nerf you keep every extra copy... :) ...I opened one golden and crafted another golden... :P
right didnt think of that one.
so warrior and shaman nerf? Kappa
Prepare your dust for Corridor Creeper
