Meme card
If something is rogue weapon it doesn't mean it's auto a meme.
NOW i'm hyped!
For all the naysayers, don't get distracted by all the wombo combo 15 damage lifesteal weapon ideas people are coming up with. This is a 1 mana 1/3 weapon in rogue. Here are the upsides without even looking at the deathrattle:
1. We can play this T1 and follow up with pirates or weapon buffs T2. Or we can coin out Deadly Poison on this for a 3/3 weapon T1. Dread Corsair tempo play on T2 is possible with Deadly Poison.
2. Finally having 3 durability on a good weapon less than 4 mana allows for weapon buffs to go a longer way. This is crucial for interactions with cards like Luckydo Buccaneer, Captain Greenskin, and Naga Corsair as generally by the time you get to play them, you have only one charge left, making it nearly a waste.
3. It's a combo activator. Normally if you want a weapon on a turn, you won't have enough mana left over after hero powering to actually play another card before your combo cards. This means you need to make plays like hero powering the turn before and holding off for things like Deadly Poison. This gives far more flexibility.
4. Doomerang puts this sucker back in hand with full buffs (as confirmed by Peter). Doomerang was excellent with Obsidian Shard but shard was too expensive to throw in. One Deadly Poison on this weapon and it's a shard essentially (but often cheaper).
I played a weaponbuff rogue all the way to one star away from rank 1 (the best I've ever done). It's definitely a viable deck and we can even mix in Keleseth to make it more interesting. All of these aspects listed above PLUS the deathrattle make it a super compelling card IMO. I'd love to see a wombo combo play with the weapon, but unfortunately, I don't think it'll happen. However, it will be incredibly strong in pirate rogue.
I can finally run my Luckydo?!!! :D
I love your response. I am definitely excited for rogue this expansion. Going to be nuts. Its too bad we didnt get that draw 2 weapons card warriors got.
How this card works with Spiteful Smith? Does it keeps +2 attack buff when shuffled? Because when your Spiteful Smith damaged your weapon have buff when you point on it.
Not sure. Right now I am making an assumption that by "enchantments" it means spell buffs. However, I could be wrong, just like others were about 'enchantment keeping' effect being a part of the weapon's deathrattle.
I'm pretty sure Spiteful Smith enrage is an aura, not an enchantment.
Ok. thx
Are you certain about Buccaneer? Note that both spells and buffs from minion battlecries are printed on the minions they're cast upon. I can't see why that wouldn't be the case with Buccaneer. I agree about the smith as that's like Dire Wolf Alpha but I think you're wrong with Buccaneer.
What does playing rogue in arena have anything to do with determining wording on a card? Enchantment has not been used on a card so you can't claim you know what it means. You can take your best guess (as we all are doing), but don't come forward with blanket statements about what is and isn't an enchantment. When you talk like that, you just sound like a jerk trying to push their own opinion and shut down any dissenting discussion.
In defense of my statement, Naga Corsair uses the same wording as Deadly Poison. And it's not the minion that buffs the blade, it's the battlecry. If the blade said it keeps any spells cast on it then I would be inclined to agree with you. However, it specifically said "enchantments", a word we haven't seen yet, leading me to believe it refers to all buffs on it. Could I be wrong? Sure. But that seems to be the most reasonable reading of it.
It wouldn't be straight out broken for the same reason no other weapon has been straight out broken with all the buffs: Limited durability. As much as people think they'll get this over and over again, most games end with 10+ cards left in deck so you likely won't get this more than twice per game unless you're playing a super late game or mega draw deck. Even if it was broken, that wouldn't change the fact that the interaction was made. We have all sorts of broken interactions in the game.
I see that you're not looking for a fight so my apologies for assuming that. I was a bit rude with my response so I'll try to respond without being a dick. This statement, "minions... even when they have a battlecry doesn't mean anything" is super confusing. Clearly they mean something. They're a body on the board, they're a buff for a minion. They can be silenced like spells can. So they're clearly not nothing. If your belief is that Blizz would only count spells as staying on the minion, then why wouldn't they word it like Primalfin Champion or Lynessa Sunsorrow to clarify that? That would make way more sense.
Saying you're 99% or 100% sure seems far too overconfident for a word that we have never encountered in the game. I wouldn't even say that I'm 75% sure about my opinion on this. That sort of certainty needs to be based on evidence, not just on "this seems like how it would work". I've provided "common logic" to explain why it would retain all buffs while you have not actually provided anything aside from your feelings about why it would be fair or not. Sure, there are weird interactions you experience in arena, but you're assuming that people can't find those interactions in constructed. I have no idea which interaction you've experienced that has shown you hard evidence, but I've tested many weaponbuff decks and this is the conclusion I've come to.
I agree with you on Spiteful Smith but your argument for your opinion was essentially "minion battlecries are not enchantments, spells are, therefore only spells are retained." If battlecries aren't counted as enchantments then of course I would agree with you. However, you have not proven that battlecries aren't in fact enchantments and until you have something to back that up, what you're saying has nothing to stand on.
Please stop posting misinformation about Doomerang not working with this card.
Yes, the text is poorly organized (which is why many thought that the 'Keeping enchantments' part of the weapon was actually part of the deathrattle (it is actually seperate)). Whalin already confirmed that the interaction works & doesn't erase enchantments.
Upvote this so we can reduce the amount of posts saying that Doomerang doesn't interact well with Kingsbane.
You wanna talk about misinformation? The card doesn't read clear enough to interpret that from reading it. If they wanted it to say what they meant, it should read, "This weapon keeps any enchantments. Deathrattle: Shuffle this into your deck."
And upvoting your post will have no impact on anyone else's.
I agree that they poorly worded the text & should not have placed into the deathrattle text. However, it has already been confirmed that the enchantments aren't erased so any further spreading of it not working is either honest misinformation or purposeful trolling.
Would be usefull if they add this as Warrior weapon. For rogue, a big no, need to much to get value from this card, not worth it.
other than upgrade warrior has very hard time turning this weapon into someting usefull I dont get your point O_O
