- Death Knight Hero cards can no longer be drafted in Arena.
Starting on the morning of Tuesday, November 14 PST, we will remove the nine Knights of the Frozen Throne Death Knight Hero cards from the Arena draft pool. While the Death Knight Hero Cards are exciting and powerful to play, their permanent Hero Power upgrades are hard to combat in a format where answers are limited.
We will continue to monitor Arena balance and make changes on an as-needed basis. Please note this change does not remove Death Knight Hero cards from existing drafted decks. For a complete list of cards that are not available in the Arena draft pool, please refer to our Arena Specifics forum post on the official Hearthstone forums.
I had a game where i was way ahead of the priest, had 4 minions with 5 attack on each of them, through a discovery he got shadowreaper anduin. After a long fight i got back the board, he then played the shadowreaper anduin he originally drafted. I was done after that.
funny
Funny is how little people know about game mechanics.
One thing which is different between Flappy Bird and a DK is that Flappy Bird is really easy to craft in constructed. It's a small amount of dust, and decks which use it can be made cheaply. If someone wants the Vicious Fledgling Experience, they can have it. That's not always true with DK, however. Death Knights are legendary, and not as easy to craft. There's a big difference in level of access. Remember, for each person who loses against a DK, someone else wins, and that's got the potential to be a special Arena run for that person. They can easily be playing a card they can't really afford to craft. Maybe they don't really play mage in constructed, didn't get that one as their "free" DK from the adventure, and so forth. I think that's of enough value that half of the experience to justify waiting to decide to ban DK entirely. After selection bonus ends, when DK are rare, if they're still a problem, sure. Ban them. I object to the timing more than the ban.
Meanwhile, there's a difference between a 3-drop which can immediately snowball a game, and a swing-y endgame legendary. Should Deathwing be removed, too?
What's this got to do with arena Deathknights?
I saw this coming...
what about ultimate infestation?
In many cases using UI in arena is a value play, not a tempo play (especially if you are already behind). At turn 10 in arena I'd rather play a Bogcreeper, or 2 5 drops than spend 10 mana to maybe destroy a creature & play a 5/5, unless the opponent only has one big minion that UI can destroy.
The armor gain is mostly irrelevant, while the card draw only matters in top deck mode or situations where you are digging for that one removal that you have yet to draw.
Okey, just few more days and I can play arena again. Great.
The "I don't care, but it was needed" buttom is missing. AKA I don't play arena but I know that was unbalanced that way lol
less freewins for noobs is always good.
Kripp will be happy
Well it's good to see these changes happening. Although I got multiple 12 wins without needing them, they were super strong!
I actually laughed when I saw this. It took them 3 months to fix something so obviously broken, Kripp must be happy.
There's still "going second" to break that happiness for him.
Now just remove bonemare and we're good
