- Death Knight Hero cards can no longer be drafted in Arena.
Starting on the morning of Tuesday, November 14 PST, we will remove the nine Knights of the Frozen Throne Death Knight Hero cards from the Arena draft pool. While the Death Knight Hero Cards are exciting and powerful to play, their permanent Hero Power upgrades are hard to combat in a format where answers are limited.
We will continue to monitor Arena balance and make changes on an as-needed basis. Please note this change does not remove Death Knight Hero cards from existing drafted decks. For a complete list of cards that are not available in the Arena draft pool, please refer to our Arena Specifics forum post on the official Hearthstone forums.
They should have done this from the beginning. Someone thought a little.

DK need rework
This poll is complex, but still you missed some possible answers:
- I'm needed and it was happy.
- I'm needed but it was not happy.
- I'm not needed but it was happy.
- I'm not needed and it was not happy.
- I care.
I don't care Blizz :p
just stop making infinity decks jeez.....
Aaaah, another victory for the salt.
But really, I never had problem against DKs, not even in dual arena. I don't feel like they should be removed, but then again, I'm not a big fan of arena, so I'm ok if people want them removed.
Interesting related statistics about Deathknight performances in standard, wild and arena from mid august:
https://hsreplay.net/articles/25/death-knight-hero-performance-overview
According to that data, if you find and include a DK in your drafted deck, you have an average winrate of 54-61%.
But if you play the DK in a game, the average wirate decreases for 4 classes and increases for 5 classes.
Interestingly, the impact of playing a drafted DK is smaller than 2.2% on average in 4 cases.
For hunter and rogue we have a massive drop of up to 18%, but for warrior, mage and warlock we have a massive boost of up to 12%.
Remember that Blizzard has also said that card nerfs and arena bans are not done solely on win/loss statistics. The extra "feels bad" factor is taken into consideration. And it feels super bad when someone plays one of these and stomps you into the ground. Especially when it turns the tide of a game where you outplayed your opponent.
Good news for every time, I don't have one but my opponent does. Bad news, if vice versa ;)
But seriously, good one here! Bonemare should be made an Epic, too.
Cobalt Scalebane could see that change as well. It's as if everyone has it on turn 5 and Bonemare on turn 7, every deck, every game, everytime.
So has Blizz ever changed the rarity of a card? I can't remember a single time that was done. They are more likely to take them out of Arena if people keep bitching about them. So by all means please keep it up.
Although it feels extra good to win against Frost Lich Jaina, more often than not they just win solely relying on this card.
Thank you Blizzard, now i'm actually wondering what their decision for the legendary weapons i going to be.
At the first glance, they will be mostly okay. The Priest one is a big garbage, the mage gets busted cards in every expansion for Arena, but it's a legendary are really slooow, so might be just as unbalanced as meteor and stuff. At least cannot be glyphed and legendary tier!
i mean DK's made arena fun to play but if you were against one it could make a comeback and/or was really not fun to play against
I wonder if Blizzard will put legendary weapons in arena too.
I think they will start with them in Arena then will watch to see if they can be abused like DK's were.
its about time..
The real question is: can you still discover them from cards like Kabal Courier?
That was way more frustrating. I once played an arena game against three separate DK's.
That doesn't happen nearly often enough to be relevant. Your opponent discovering high powered bullshit has always been a thing in arena. And yes, as with all the other cards that are banned, you can still get them during a game.
