Mike Donais Clarifies the Various Copy Mechanics of Hearthstone
In a post on reddit yesterday evening, Mike Donais shed some light on the rough rule the team uses for copying within Hearthstone. It's important to note that they are trying to make this the consistent rule going forward and they will review cards from the past and future with this in mind.
Quote from Mike DonaisThe rough rule for copying is:
If you copy something that is in play and the copy is in play it keeps stats. (Faceless Manipulator)
If you copy something from other zones it is the base card. (Thoughtsteal)
If you copy something in play to another zone it is a base card. (Echo of Medivh)
If you move something from deck or hand then it is still that exact card so it keeps stats. (Death Grip, Deathlord.)
If something leaves play it loses buffs. (Sap)
We are trying to make this the consistent rule and reviewing existing and future cards with this in mind.
This rules exist from HS start, maybe some people don't read it before.
what happens if you thought steal a card that was buffed by Prince?
Base card...
"If you copy something from other zones it is the base card. (Thoughsteal)"
Base card
No, he's not asking about copy, but steal which does copy the stats and is not Base card.
He said thoughtsteal. you misread
It will not be buffed, ritual buffs run a tally for each player, unless you played a Keleseth too, he won't be buffed
Thanks for clarifying... i noticed not too long ago that switching health and attack on a temp buff no longer transfers the attack to defense and rebuffs the attack... glad to see the design team is finally doing "all the hard work" to make their game consistent and polished, its tough for an indie card game company like blizzard, but they really prioritize, ahahahaaha
I don't think that was recent. I am not even sure that was ever a thing. I believe It still works with stuff like raid leader though, not that anyone plays that card. The reason that works is because the attack buff is constant, it keeps being applied.
I just have seen the full artwork of Faceless Manipulator for the first time. It's a shame they cut off the tentacle; it looks much better in full.
My life is complete now.
I have a weird feeling that they will use that tentacle for another card's artwork.
Lovecraft likes this art
thought his beard was a hand, lol
He is a sucker that one :)
Keep the GF pic, wow moments are something i cherish, even if i never had anyone to play with me.
I've Death Grip-ed Archmage Antonidas twice in exodia mage decks. Instant concedes. So delicious.
Anyone know which cards break these rules? I cant think of any off the top of my head and couldnt find the reddit post.
The post is about Mimic Pod not working with Prince Keleseth buff
mostly interactions with Ritual buffs like Keleseth
