Let's Nerf Some Cards!
Kripparrian put out a video to follow up the recent Warsong Commander nerf and shared the cards he feels need to be toned down to the ground. He shares the way he would nerf them and the way "Blizzard" would nerf them as well. Sorry Force of Nature, no more charge for you!
I think that Mysterious Challenger should be nerft as soon as possible, is 6 mana 6/6 that can play you at least 4 mana direcly from your deck to the board.
Agree with the Knife Juggler. Though I think Blizzard would go with 2/2 or 1/2.
Agree with Mysterious Challenger too. Though I am not too sure how Blizzard would nerf it. My problem with is is that it is too cost effective: 6 casting cost for a 6/6.
Disagree with Mad Scientist though.
Agree with the need to nerf force of nature though not sure how it should be done.
Agree with Piloted Shredder too. It has to be 4 mana 3/3 and it will still be useful.
When the Hearthpwn post said "Sorry, FoN, no charge for you!" I thought they meant it would still keep the "dies at end of turn" part. Now THAT would be a nerf!
Instead of nerfing they Blizzard should added cards to counter instead of changing.
IMO nerfing is like a failure.
I must say Force of Nature is one of those cards that has been overlooked way to far. It's just silly what power it gives druid. And as Kripp says, playing with out it will make people laugh at you.
And Blizzard just gave druid another Stealth Minion, which is just to much combined with the Savage FoN combo. Can't do both, this will limit everything they make in the future. Charge will make it stronger, direckt damage will make it stronger and more stealth or strong early drops will make it stronger.
It's not fun to play correctly and get punished for it, that's what Force of Nature does to you since the beginning. And as Thijs says, it's almost impossible to play around.
Glad Kripp brought it up.
So who won Challengestone?
I'm starting to think that the reason it was Warsong who was bullied into submission was so that players who crafted golden patrons and maybe even golden frothing would be stuck with them.
His sarcasm is borderline saltiness lol but I love Kripp and he makes valid points. Blizzard can't just "sorta nerf" a card, they have to absolutely kill it from ever being playable again (a la warsong commander, starving buzzard, and novice engineer). Cards like mad scientist and knife juggler make aggro way too powerful and although I personally think knife juggler is fine because of the RNG factor I believe scientist should have been nerfed a LONG time ago, at least downgraded to loot hoarder stats so it can die to hero abilities
like pint sized summoner i would of made warsong commander first monster you summon each turn with 4 or less attack has charge
imagine how powerful that could be in freeze mage, where you could ping your own mad scientist to grab an iceblock to stall.
"Blizzard can't just 'sorta nerf' a card, they have to absolutely kill it from ever being playable again."
Wut. Plenty of their nerfs have been perfectly minor and reasonable. Undertaker, Flare, Gadgetzan Auctioneer, Soulfire, Leeroy Jenkins, Eaglehorn Bow, and Unleash the Hounds far outnumber cases like Warsong Commander and Starving Buzzard.
Undertaker is absolutely 100% unplayable because of the nerf. Leeroy is virtually unplayable at 5. Same for flare at 2 and soulfire at 1
Undertaker is perfectly playable, just no longer dominant; put it in a deathrattle-focused deck, and it'll still do well. Leeroy too is perfectly playable and still sees plenty enough play; he's just not overwhelming anymore and the number of combos you can do with him have been reduced.
Don't exaggerate the extend of these nerfs. They were minor, and these cards are still perfectly playable. They're not top-tier cards anymore, but so what? That doesn't mean they're crap. They still have their niches, and they were just brought down to a more average level of power. It's just that, well, meta-game wise, average cards don't see as much use. Which makes sense. These, though, are the kinds of nerfs that we want, ones that bring a card down to a more average level of power and mean that they'll still be played some of the time rather than overwhelmingly. And this has been the norm. And Warsong Commander was not the norm but exceptional.
Undertaker is very weak in a deathrattle deck -
1. It doesn't have deathrattle - so less value from other deathrattle cards.
2. Compare it to micro-machine: grows slower (you ain't putting two minions a turn) and not a mech (see 1).
3. 2 HP is extremely fragile, deathrattle decks are control based and they can't afford having a 1 drop that dies turn 1 to zombie chow and Leper Gnome.
It was a funny video, a shame that some people don't understand sarcasm.
this video is so full of salt - i like krip but thats not the way how you do it
More sarcasm then salt here, it's really fine to be a bit salty about blizz going full BS in Hearthstone. If you say this is salt, you should go watch some of his videos titled My worst arena ever. That's where the SALT is. It's like an ocean dried out worth of salt.
Must agree! When i first saw this video i almost unsubscribed to his channel. Cant take that bloke serious anymore, he got rather salty in the last few weeks in his videos, hard to say it is sarcasm at this point, he also might be generally pissed at this game (understandably) but this is not a very good way to prove your point.
thats exactly what i thought - and its hillarious that i got downvotes for giving an opinion - must be all the krip fanboys
@diredoge - that is not sarcasm anymore - and another point is - it is easy to see all the things from one perspective as krip does in this video, but another thing is to see the whole sentence
Warsong commander in his pre nerf status was bad for the game - not only because of the patron deck but because it limits future creativity of designing cards from blizzards perspective - not only for warrior but also all neutral minions
Gaara also made Video about the Warsong nerf, nailing it pretty much on the point that is has to be done
If anyone of all the haters would rather look the Explanation Video by Ben Brode they might understand my point.
As an example Dreadsteed should have been a Neutral Minion and was yet to come in Naxxramas - the only reason blizzard couldnt have done that was Warsong Commander
