Baldassar posted a message on Chromaggus INSTANT VALUE!!!!Posted in: PaladinUnlike Dr. Boom it has no instant value on an empty board. It needs to be combined with another card to pay for itself on the spot, which is a drawback, but it definitely doesn't make it a bad card.
In the situation you described for example, instaed of Chromaggus + BoW, just playing Ysera would have netted you the same value and it's much easier to get a one-card-combo, than two cards + a pre-existing creature.

Grunyx posted a message on Deck type indicatorPosted in: General Deck BuildingSo I have this Idea about a deck type indicator that I would like to share as many decks actually do not consist of just one element and they are not just one type. Ramp druid for instance have many sub types including a ramp only version, a combo version and a taunt heavy version. If you take zoolock as an example it is a mixture between different sub types.
So the indicator would look something like this.
Some of the types might not make sense to every one so I will describe all below:
(The names can always change and some can be removed if need be, some types might also overlap)Ramp: Focus on getting high value/large minions out early.
Tempo: Focus on getting and staying ahead turn after turn or regaining tempo when tempo is lost.
Rush: Try to flood the board and overwhelm your opponent as quick as possible.
Aggro: Basically turn that hero into a zero with whatever you got and ignore everything else.
Midrange: Adaptable and able to change between aggro and control according to the situation.
Combo: Deal a lot of damage with a combination of cards within a few turns usually more to the mid to later stages of the game.
Control: Basically get the most value out of every card you have and try to counter whatever strategy the opponent is using. These decks tend to get their strength in the late game.
Turtle: This is a less known type of deck, you do not really get pure or even close to pure turtle decks these days, a turtle deck is focussed around extending the game and surviving for as long as possible. The fact that it is just focused around extending the game means it usually is accompanied by something else like a late game combo or killing with fatigue or using really large late game minions. Decks centered around this have a lot of either armor, freezing, healing, protecting, taunting or some form of blocking.
Fatigue: The focus of this deck is to kill your opponent with fatigue weather you used armor to stay alive, healing to stay alive, used card draw to put your opponent into fatigue, used taunts to keep you safe, if a deck has the capability to win a fatigue ending game most of the time this it will lean more to this catagory.
Mill: Fatigue and mill will tend to overlap but the mill sub type is focused around filling your opponents hand and making him mill cards weather it will end up killing him with fatigue or making him lack cards to fight back at you and you using something else to kill him.
Note: I was thinking of also adding "Minion Heavy" Basically just indicating that it is very minion heavy however it overlaps with many other decks.
Here are some examples, they might be completely off as I play very few deck types, they are just an idea of how it might look.
Zoolock: Face Hunter:
Control Warrior: Ramp Druid:
Freeze Mage:
I made it so that there are 15 slots/blocks filled in every table. I also tried to align them in a way where they tend to overlap or have something in common with the type next to them however it's a bit difficult with some.
With this system the decks will/can also be categorized under 2 - 3 main types.
I am aware that there is a similar diagram on the cards page on hearthpwn however it is still different and only for individual cards, that design might work well with this though.
Something I was thinking as well is the fact that when you create a deck it automatically starts creating this according to the cards you add. Afterwards you adapt it according to how the deck actually works. Having Grommash and cruel task master will for instance increase your combo slightly. Having shieldmaiden will increase turtle, while having leper gnome will increase aggro.

Kyoden posted a message on Big hit for invested money (600 Euro plus)Posted in: General DiscussionDear Blizzard,
I read the new announcement made by Blizzard about the rotation today. While I totally can understand it (beeing a tcg veteran for over 20 years) I find it very hard that we are not allowed to disenchant our cards to full value. I do have golden Sludge Belchers, Kel, Webspinner, Mad Scientist, Loatheb, Duplicate, Voidcaller, Deathbite and probably more I can't remember.
This whole standard format was unannounced before. Usually, Blizzard allows a "full refund" on the dust invested when something changes. I basicly spend hundreds of Euros to get these cards golden. Yes, it was my decision, but it was made by the assumption (which was provided by blizzard) that I can play these cards in the decks I want. So I basicly bought booster packs to have enough dust for these cards to make em shiny. A mistake I will not make any more.
Adding a rotation will be very healthy for the game, but it will also result in the players moving forward to the standard format. New players don't need to worry about the old cards, meta will be fresh and more and more players will shift away from thge old sets. Especially as they can disenchant them for the new cards they need.
I humbly request a one time full dust disenchanting option. From now on, it will be clear, that the new expansion will rotate out. Otherwise I'm not sure if I can trust them any more, which will result in playing hearthstone full free. I know this probably still will be in their interest, but I hope it is not and they will show they community, that they will give in on this request. Many other players will feel the same.
Sincerely
Maik -

McF4rtson posted a message on Bard Class Concept [LOE started]Overview
Hey all, and welcome to another one of my custom classes. This Bard class has been in the works for a very long time, before my Demon Hunter, in fact. However, due to the class competition, it was put on hold. Now that's out of the way, I'm very excited to present the first, to my knowledge, full-blown Bard class.
And again, seeing as how I enjoyed making my Pirate class so much, I'll try to continue that "funny" feeling into the Bard class.
Special thanks to Zanywoop, as always, and Mokthol. I am the creator of this card border, but it was Mokthol here who managed to get the border on Hearthcards.
Mr. Michael Schweitzer
Mike is not a very well-known character. He's the manager of the ETC band. He's a perfect fit for the Bard Hero, with all his administrative and managerial experience. He'll also be the first undead Hero.
Power of ROCK! explained:
Here's a Hero Power full o' flavour. The Bard class was meant to be a joke, but, Blizzard did say that they'd be able to control the power of ROCK. So, here's that. This Hero Power works as a permanent buff of +1 Health. HOWEVER. It does say a "character". Yes, the Bard is able to have over 30 Health. So, we all know how a Health buff on a minion works. But on a Hero? It'll be the same thing. Turn 2, Mike is at 30/30 HP. He uses his Hero Power, he'll be at 31/31 HP. This makes for a great mana dump and for trading. I also expect to see some great interaction with TGT coming up.
Perfect Pitch
Perfect Pitch explained:
This is the Bard's keyword. At first, I was a bit hesitant to use this, since it's so long... but then there's Divine Shield. Since the Bard excels at healing and Health manipulation, this keyword fits in extremely well. You'll see some very odd requirements for this keyword. For example, a 2/5 minion with a Perfect Pitch (7). This forces the Bard to buff up that minion and as a reward, you'll get some spectacular results. Note that For Perfect Pitch (7), for example, the Health much be precisely at 7. Other Perfect Pitches could be at (3+) or (2-4). It's self-explanatory, but here's a rundown just in case.
Basic Cards
Automatically included:
Tavern Minstrel explained:
The basic 1-drop of this class. It's a gamble, but you either get a 1/3 or a 0/4. You can also drop this card later as a support card, which is it's main function.
Automatically included:
I Have the Powah! explained:
I HAVE THE POWAH!!! Pretty self explanatory. Unlike most minion-based spells, this one uses Attack. That's only fair, as you can get some pretty crazy amounts of Health with this class.
Automatically included:
Haunting Melody "explained":
Just a fancier way of making a Darkbomb, and with more Bard-like flavour.
Automatically included:
Death Metal explained:
Balance help! Please! It's obviously based off of Truesilver Champion. This heals 6 and deal 9 damage in total, right? But I think that 9 damage spread out over 3 turns is not nearly as effective as 8 damage in two turns. Agree or disagree?
Automatically included:
Mosh Pit explained:
This card helps solidify the Bard's situation later in the game. Most of this class' buffs are based on just one minion, so you can start to lose your board eventually. Hopefully, this will help you to catch up.
Upon reaching level 2:
Allegro explained:
A big, big single-minion buff. Whatever you buff with this thing ain't gonna be leaving for a while. Stats are good, on par with Blessing of Kings. And Allegro is a musical tempo that means "fairly fast".
Upon reaching level 4:
Elven Bard "explained": (mini-fanfic)
It's a little known fact, but right before the Hearthstone beta rolled out, the Defender of Argus had an almighty row with his girlfriend. They had been living together for nearly two years, but an argument soon broke out. The girlfriend won. As a result, Defender of Argus was cast out and had to scrape together a living as a Neutral minion while Elven Bard lived a luxurious life as a Class minion.
Upon reaching level 6:
Upon reaching level 8:
Off-beat Clapping and On-beat Strumming explained:
These cards work as pair, and are obviously based off of the Shadow Words. Like the Priest, there is a sweet spot that the Bard's can't itch, and that it an odd-Attack, even-Health. (Spider Tank, for example) However, Health is easily changed. Therefore, Bards have strong access to hard removal, but like the Priest, will sometimes be caught out in the open with no answer. They will, however, have an easier time than the Priest.
Upon reaching level 10:
Campfire Sing-Along explained:
My favourite card in this set. So, so, SO versatile. You can change an enemy Health to 1, or boost a friendly minion's Health to 10. The possibilities are limitless. Balanced against Hunter's Mark and Humility.
Expert Set
Commons
Feeeelings explained:
Great tempo play, since unlike Ancestral Healing, you can get a lot of synergy with this card, especially with perfect Pitch shenanigans. Plus, the name is sooooooo gooooood.
Impromptu explained:
Another good tempo play. Not much to see, think of it as a mini Enhance-o-Mechano. An impromptu is any performance that has never been practiced for.
Pianissimo explained:
A mini mass-silence. Downfalls: random, and requires two minions. Upside, it's ridiculously cheap. Balanced against Silence.
Bard's Apprentice explained:
Here's a great powerhouse of a 2-drop. This thing requires to be dealt with, since the Bard will easily find ways to turn this into a massive monster. Treat this as you would a Whirling Zap-o-matic. Imagine this then Allegro. Jeezus.
Kil'Jaedan's Choir explained:
A light AOE with a heal for your minions. Nothing much to see here. Based off of Holy Nova.
Bewitching Songstress explained:
The most solid 4-drop Bards have access to. Instant board effect, solid stats. A great card. Can take on Piloted Shredder, too.

Well, you're talking like tempo is restricted to the Tempo Mage deck you used to play back in the day, while it's just another archetype, just like aggro, control, combo or midrange. Just because it looks very different from the older version of the deck, it doesn't mean that the deck is not tempo anymore. The new deck plays just like a tempo deck would play in any other card game, prioritizing its removals to keep board control while dealing damage to the opponent with its creatures.

Well, ranked should reward those who are good at playing, not those who are able to spend half the day on a daily basis playing a virtual card game...
I think this is a step in the right direction.
1
The golden cards are completely optional and they just add an aesthetic feature to the collection, not affecting the gameplay at all. In most games, skins and other appearence-changing items are only obtainable through microtransactions, while in hearthstone you're still able to get the golden cards without spending a single penny, although it may take a while. Golden cards should stay the way they are.

Yay, we are really close to build a full rager deck!
7
Yeah, the 3-deck meta is the best one...

I'd like to see how many hours I've spent on this game since closed beta lol
24
Now THAT would be pay to win.

Don't call her that. She's an Ice-lady.

No. Acidic Swamp Ooze is a tech card, just like Harrison Jones. It does not have any OP effect or anything, it helps against a specific meta.

I think Kazakus is the most powerful Gadgetzan's Legendary lol
