At this year's BlizzCon we've lined up a developer interview with one of Hearthstone's producers! We thought we'd open up our interview to questions from all of the community members here at HearthPwn.
If you have a question you'd like to see answered from the production side of Hearthstone, respond to this thread and we'll be compiling all the best questions to take with us to BlizzCon.
Card Balance related questions will not be taken with us. Keep this in mind when responding to this thread.
Why there we rarely see any rebalancing? Beside the Warsong nerf, I did not remember the last time they nerfed anything. I think doing it every month would be good for the game, without talking about any specific card.
No shady answers please. Be clear and straight-forward. The ranked meta is dominated and plagued with very fast decks and aggro is ruling all over the place after TGT failed to deliver on slowing the game a little. What is the internal opinion of the hearthstone team about this, and is this gonna TRULY change or not?
Will next adventure/expansion finally take arena into acount? Especially rarity of the cards, with biggest focus on commons?
(i know, they already made a statement, they will do something about it, i just want to know, if its gonna be taken into the account in next released content already or not) ;-)
This isn't related to anything, but if your opponent gets a Flame Leviathan from an Unstable Portal and you hover over the card, you can see what he got. Not sure if this works with anything else.
Are there plans to release more cards for underrepresented races (Pirates, Totems, Murlocs)? Are there plans to create new races? Are there plans to release new hero classes?
1. We all know that Blizzard is collecting informations/statistics regarding every aspect of game. Are you considering to share at least a bit of that knowledge amongst players (i.e. in launcher or website)?
2. Blizzard officially stated that in-game animations are ok (despite some players opinions). There was also information some time ago about fixing Nozdormu (the best example of animation influence on players when the opponent turn is completely consumed); there was also info regarding to the trimming process of card creation (time of animation is also considered). In the era of Christmas Tree pally, time for processing multiple secrets in one turn is also quite long. Are you thinking about something to be implemented to change the current situation or you don't consider it as a problem?
3. I'm curious what is the number of pvp and pve expansions currently considered, to be presented in the future (maybe to be fine-tuned, waiting to be released someday). How much time do you have from drawing boards (or whatever we will call the idea stage) till the release?
When you make new cards, I'm guessing you consider a decktype said cards would fit into eg. Twilight Whelp. This being said, is aggro priest going to be considered when you're thinking of new cards? It's a very underdeveloped deck type but there is potential with cards like Shadowbomber and Mind Blast.
Will Murloc paladin be developed further than Murloc Knight?
Hinted before the launch of TGT were the new minion types of pirate and ninja. Would these new types require new keywords, or would they work with stealth and chaaaaaaaaarge?
Are there any plans for a good hunter draw engine? If you want control hunter to be a thing, cards like Powershot are a step in the right direction, but no control deck can survive without a minion to help draw, with the exception of possibly warlock.
Would you ever consider opening up tavern brawls idea's to the community? There could be a vote each week on what everyone wants to play, with perhaps 1 week each month being dedicated to redoing a previous brawl.
What keeps going wrong with the tavern brawls?
Will you try to favour warrior a bit extra in the next expansion, seeing as how they are such a bad arena class and how the Warsong Commander change heavily nerfed the patron warrior archetype?
Why was he option to change card backs on the fly removed? I enjoyed changing my card back during a game if the other user had the same one I was using? It's drastically diminished the enjoy ability of the card backs in my opinion. Now your stuck with your card back of choice no matter what unless you go into deck building? Seems to me like a simple fix
Profesional players (firebat por example) think hearthstone is getting pretty stale becase of blizzards definition of "fun" (just trading minions). Are you going to implement new deck archetypes to avoid this staleness?
if you continuously say that you guys are against aggro decks, why does every expansion keep on creating new aggressive decks? Can we see control become popular once again and how will you guys be able to put such a huge change like that into this game?

How many expansions may we expect in future?
I bring life and pffffffffffffff!
When will we get more deck slots?

Which of the cards that exist right now is problematic for you? Like pre-nerf-WSC. Which one restricts you?

1. Will there be any season holiday themed brawls in the future? (Christmas brawl, halloween etc.)
2. Is there a chance to have promo cards? (cards that are more fun rather than playable but celebrate some events or holidays)
3. What about the achievement system?
4. Will Blizzard fix/update texts on cards to avoid inconsistencies? eg. Tracking has "draw" in the card text but doesn't work with Chromaggus.

Well met!

Why main menu of Hearthstone don’t have it animation changed with every expansion like main menu of world of Warcraft?

What are the plans for a tourament mode? Hopefully it will be very flexible and provide support for multiple formats.
What is Ben Brode's favourite class?
