I'm having trouble breaking past rank 15... I know that compare to you guys, this sound insignificant but I seem to have some issues at the beginning of the season to get out of the lower ranks.
I was playing with Dragon Priest or Pirate Rogue but didn't get any good hand & very bad draw (on top of my low skills, that really didn't help).
Therefore, I've switched to Face Hunter, which seems to be more adapted to my level of skills ( :D ) as I had a few win streaks which got me to rank 15. I think I'll try to push some more with this aggro deck and switch back to Dragon Priest if I get stuck again.
I met the same problem as well, and I am playing the cancerous Secret Paladin (OMG). Win one or two games, lose one or two games, back and forth, tilted, back to rank 17. I switched to tempo mage and was straight into rank 14 before I went to bed. That list wasn't even a refined list, just a list I threw together in a hurry. I find having 2-3 decks that have different favorable matchups to be advantageous on the road to laddering. I don't even really need to read the meta correctly, I just switch decks when I feel I am on the verge of a lose streak.
I'm not familiar with the US server meta, but in EU I play midrange hunter mainly. It works great. Also I got paladin quest and I tried the secret paladin for the first time. I went 5-2, I lost 2 games to bad rng, but the wins were all extremely convincing. The deck seems broken. Last month combo druid was extremely powerful as well, at the lower ranks I had 85% winrate which decreased as I was closing on rank 5. This month there are lot more tempo mages, but it still should be a good deck, probably not as great as last month. Patron also should work just fine, though it might not be the best choice for people who has no experience with it. I think these decks should not give you any trouble reaching rank 5 or even legend assuming you play it correctly.
I find Secret Paladin to be very good as well. I particularly like the aggro version since I can use my aggro pressure to either force my opponent to react, or clear their board so that they have a very hard time dealing with Mysterious Challenger. I am not sure if I played it correctly, but from time to time, even if I can, it seems that turn 6 MC may not be the best idea. My example would be if I suspect an incoming Lightbomb but there are certainly other situations as well.
How does the deck fare against Patron, though? I ran into some Patron players but frankly, they aren't playing very well so the wins don't count. ("Lone-Warsong Commander-on-board-expecting-it-to-live-next-turn" kind of bad.)

I play a midrangish version, it does not even need the Challenger in some cases. I did not play against patron, so I do not know the matchup. I lost to a demon handlock, he had a perfect draw, I had no chance and I feel like it is a bad matchup anyway. Also lost to an aggro mage, I had the tools to win, but I felt safe at 13hp and 8 mana and opted to apply more pressure when my opponent had no board. I lost to a fireball, frostbolt and icelance combo. I had ice block in my hand from his spellslinger, so it was my mistake at the end. The wins were super easy, at least 2 person gave up early as they saw no chance to win. If you can take the board early, others have hard time coming back as the midrange version has lot more firepower than just dr 6.
It is generally accepted that Challenger should be played on turn 6, no other card can swing the game in your favour so much. If you still lose after dropping it, you would have lost regardless if you had played him or not. Most people (including myself) keep him in the mulligan too if you have your 1 and 2 drops, especially with the coin. Turn 5 Challenger nearly always wins you the game.
Generally yes, but there are situations where it is not the best play. You should always consider the state of the game and do not blindly follow general rules like this.

If the patron player is competent then they're pretty heavily favored against secret pally, like 70/30. But yeah, for some reason it seems like half the patron players out there are still really pretty terrible, so who knows maybe on ladder, especially below 5, it's actually a positive match up. I do think the more mid range version is tougher for the patron to handle, at least that's been my experience.
Is Druid any good? I like the cards of the class. I'm tired of playing aggro pally and face hunter *hide*. I would like to know how high this deck can rank up.

It is very good, one of the best at the moment.
Well I'm wondering. I'm stuck between rank 17-15 :/. The last two seasons I managed to get to 8-9 with aggro decks but I wanted to play sth else. Any tips for a new drood?
I've been playing Druid to some success so far this season. If you're looking for a list you might try this one.
What's with the new aggro druid with leper gnomes? Yesterday it was every druid I played against. Curious what it's even good against. I only lost to it once when fel reaver got innervated out on turn 2 and I had no answer. Playing against it it just seemed bad, but it seems really popular at the moment.
EU player here, heading for legend with my own Zoolock. FULL GUIDE is in. Double Ancient Watcher instead of old Doomguard and Mal'Ganis, check it out ;)
Heading to legend, rank 4 right now. Used light bomb priest to get out of the aggro no meta stuff from rank 16 to rank 13 and then midrange pally and tempo mage. Going with Demon Handlock now that the meta has stabilised
Because it's cancerous yeah. Any cancer deck or deck can go to rank 5 with effort hehe.
Exactly, after i got my rank, i go to salt thread and read all other player rage towards secret paladin :p So refreshing..
But seriously, if most/all player play this deck, maybe just maybe, blizzard will nerf it or make expansion to counter secret play.. But until that happen, lets play more cancer deck :D
Still moving forward with my Face Hunter when I have time to play. Some days I make progress (gone 10-5 a few times) and some days I'm banging my head against the wall (18-18 on Sunday.)
Slowly but surely advancing. Sitting at rank 8 right now, on a winstreak. Only 45 more wins until gold Hunter and then I can switch to something more consistent.

Yeah, I was thinking of doing a tempo mage deck as well... Also I just got Archmage Antonidas so I may be able to integrate it in a mage deck :)
Favorite combo: Cabal Shadow Priest + Shrinkmeister = stolen Ysera
Current decks used - all low cost deck with very little craft required
Dragon Priest Patron Warrior Mech Mage Totem Shaman Pirate Rogue deck
Oh Archmage is fun. Fireball after Fireball. Serious facial burn injuries.
But I just love the Sorcerer's Apprentice and Flamewaker. They pull so much weight it's ridiculous.

Why is warrior cancer?
Patron is imho hardesteck to play at high level, i cant take anyone serious who put him in the same train with hunter, secretadin, tempo/mech mage...

Not originally my list but I've forgotten where I got it. It plays out pretty straight-forward and is rather effective right now.
Nothing doing, traveler.

You mean Floating Watcher, not Ancient Watcher, right? ;)
trying control warrior this season and so far i'm loving it

Tried my own Ogre Shaman build for fun, Quickly streaked from rank 17 to Rank 20! Pretty sure my new Ogre Mage will now get me to legend.
