Explosive Runes, a 3 cost mage secret that reads... After your opponent plays a minion, deal 6 damage to it and any excess to their hero.
So the question is, if my opponent plays Explosive Runes and I play a 1 mana 1/1 Divine Shield argent squire for the secret to target, why do I lose the divine shield and still take the remaining 5 damage to face?
So, here my out.. divine shields eats any damage taken to it right? Shouldn't the divine shield take all 6 damage and 0 damage should goto my hero..? Divine shield does negate any damage taken to that minion so y not explosive runes?
The card reads the amount of health that a Minion has. It doesn't take into account Divine Shield. So if you play a 1/1 into Explosive Runes you will still take 5 damage. Divine Shield or not.
Sounds illogical, probably is, but thats the way it is....
The secret checks how much health the minion has, deals that damage to the minion (which gets absorbed by the Divine Shield) and deals the rest to the hero.
