It’s not that bad, leeroy basically accomplishes the same thing and he only costs one more, plus as a minion you could theoretically get multiple hits with him
This is why I was against the nerf to Wild Growth. They've now set the precedent to nerf Basic cards, and everyone's gonna come out of the woodwork to call for nerfs to iconic cards they just lost to.

I think fireball is fine. Sure it sucks to die to double fireball but usually it is used for removal if opponent is not playing burn mage.
Also if they would nerf it I think the damage would be reduced to 5 cause 'nerfing' it to 5 mana actually buffs odd mage imo since the deck has 0 burst damage. You could hang around at 6 hp and odd mage couldn't kill you unless rag or the 1 mana buff hero power guy but he is used early game for removal almost always.

What your are saying isnt true. Basic/Classic cards are nerfed since beta. That said, team 5 is already developing the last expansion of the next year and I assume there is an insane rampcard in one of those.

Basic is different than Classic.
edit: I am incorrect however...FWA, Mind Control, Hex, etc. I am against nerfing Basic cards though.

"Basic is different than Classic." They both don't rotate.
Why are you against it? Wild Growth was a nobrainer to put in every druiddeck and that is a good reason to nerf it for me.

Classic cards have a rarity, up to and including Legendary. Basic cards are core cards in the game that you unlock. I am against nerfing Basic cards because they are core class identity cards. Just because a card is in every deck doesn't mean it needs nerfing. Look at Northshire Cleric, Blessing of Kings, Truesilver, Fireball, Hellfire, Swipe, etc etc. First off it's okay if a card sees a lot of play in a class. Second off, of the ways to nerf a card, changing the card itself is but one way. You could also give Druids a reason to NOT run a 2-mana Wild Growth. Keleseth is an example of a solid reason to not run 2-drops. Baku is a good reason to not run Truesilver. etc etc.

I know the difference between basic and classic, my point was that they both don't rotate so they are part of the identity as well.
Keleseth isnt a good example because it didnt make it in most of the druiddecks, even with the powerlevel he has. Designing that way will result in more broken cards because it needs to 'powercreep' a nobrain-pick. In the end tweaking a basic card is a much better choice designwise.

No, it doesn't work that way. We've seen this time and time again, when Blizzard nerfs important basic/classic card it doesn't mean they have a powerful replacement up their sleeve. Usually the nerfed classes just suck for a long time, i.e. warrior and mage.
Mage is barely hanging on and you guys are asking for another nerf? Like others said fireball is not even played, neither in odd mage or big spell mage.
I totally agree with OP, some basic cards have not felt the blissfull bash of the banhammer and should thus be relegated to the HOF or be nerfed. Fireball should probably cost 10, Blizzard can then rid us of the scourge of pyroblast so I can claim my 400 dust come april!
Come to think of it; I shall open a thread soon with constructive criticism about the terrible injustice of the perpetual unnerfed status of crocolisk. Its mere existence severely cuts any design space left for new sets.
Fireball cannot be played in odd;). I also think basic shouldnt receive any nerfes soon, they might even look at buffing some basic cards but that is another discussion.

I know any mage deck in meta. Maybe in future can Blizz nerf fireball (ex. 4 to 5 mana)? They are trying to reduce classic and basic cards usage.
no
You can't just suggest something without any information to back up your suggestion.
Not a single good mage deck currently out there runs Fireball.
mage lost so many classic cards and is bad spot,
kill command will be the one to be removed!
Mage doesn't exist right now, why'd they nerf it?

fire ball is better since it ignores taunts
unless combo'd with cold bloods
feels bad to lose against, feels great to win because of it
faced exodia-mage? :)

Why Fireball ? There aren't many mages around and most of them are BSM that doesn't run Fireball.
