I feel like certain cards are throwing up some serious red flags to me. Not that they are powerful, just that they have shaped metas in the past and are still played today.
A card that comes to mind is Alex since shes been a huge part of combo decks and with her around has made decks like freeze mage viable since Hearth came out. She's also been relatively dangerous in dragon warrior and such. I'm not saying she should be rotated out i'm just thinking cards that the dev team has probably flagged as old and still around.
Oddly enough, Leeroy also seems to fit the bill as well. Its not that he's "too good" or anything, he's just over used and doesn't sport much counter play when put together in warlock reno combos. Obviously reckless rocketeer is very similar, but he's proven to live on the edge a bit too much the last few years.
Doomsayer unfortunately has been pinnacle in early game shut down and has seen some crazy combos. In order to push dirty rat, the dev team may retire him.
I I seldom think this would, but gadgetzan auctioneer should definitely be replaced by something in a new set for rogue since gad now works with multiple decks (ie jade druid who is probably one set away from being dumb as hell). like i said, not that its good, its just enabled miracle rogue to stay in the meta forever when ben brode is talking about a "fresher" start
Only class card I will consider putting up is ice block and just for obvious reasons. its just a card that never should have existed and its quite sad that its in the classic set.
P.S. This isn't a nerf this or that thread, its just a speculation of possible cards that may be shifted to wild upon the next standard rotation. its purely my opinion and these cards may just not even get touched. And its not send them to wild because they are OP, its send them to wild because they enable the same "classic" decks to be played over and over.
I agree on Alex because I thought that they would nerf the card back in 2016.
Doomsayer hasnt been in the meta for a longest time and I would be suprised if theyd choose to nerf him (its possible though).
Lightning bolt is an example of a card that could be the target because it might be a little too flexible at 1 mana. I doubt that they are going to do it though afger the rockbiter nerf 2016.
Legendary wise I believe that they will not move any class legendaries to wild because you either have to move them all or some classes would have more legendaries than prhers.
If they actually move cards I believe that sylvanus and rag might be thrown of the waggon since they did see play in almost every meta.
Overall I find it suprisingly hard to pinpoint cards from the classic set, which are extremely problematic at the moment.
Many of your card choices are basic, not classic. You might want to fix that.
Other than, I say rotate the entire classic set. Make it a proper standard format. The band-aiding every meta is tiring, and the class balance in the classic set is poor.
If we're talking about CLASSIC and not basic then cards like Fireball, Fiery war axe, Swipe, Animal Companion, Hex, Sap, Shadow Word Death are not even eliglible to be moved.
I'd say balancing is the way to go. If not a good balance is possible bring the card to wild.
And I am pretty happy with such a decision from the devs. There is nothing more boring than seeing year after year the turn 2 warrior play Fiery War Axe or the 6 mana drop Highmane from hunter. If the HS team tracks percentages of how often these two are played on their turn it should be more than 95% when the player has them in the hand.
Keep standard fresh no matter how!
Also, patch the 0 mana 1/1 charge with battlecry draw a card, oh I mean patches the pirate! Do we have to see the same turn 1 for so many classes during the next 2 years, c'mon!
Year sure rotate just the cards that are making a deck viable out of standard and all win... right? But relay? Swipe? The only Boardclear and Warth the only good early removal of Druid? Are you guys think bevor posting or just name the cards that are a staple in a deck because WE HAVEN'T A REPLACEMENT FOR THAT! We can throw cards in wild sure but not the basic set! Its the BASIC set. It should be the core in every deck. Some of the cards like the Auctionmaster or the Azuredrake ok but not basic or stable class cards. Blizz can only do that if we get a good new tool and if that's not happening (like a good 5 drop like Slugebecher) they cant do that.

"... but not less than (1)" is needed now more than ever!
I honestly don't understand the logic of rotating out cards because they are good enough to see play. *See basically every card that people are reccomending we rotate out*
What is even the point of keeping evergreen if we don't want to any of the cards to see play? And let's say we do rotate out all the most popular cards right. In a year, let's pretend everyone plays Gruul now instead of ragnaros for whatever reason. Do we remove gruul then too? We don't want want any classi.cards seeing play after all. So I guess the consensus in this community is yes. Nevermind the fact that Blizzard has failed us creatively enough for us to continue playing Gruul. We just remove cards so Blizzard can sell us new ones.
People complain about Edwin, but look at the other rogue legendaries. Even without Edwin, people don't want to run Xaril or shaku. Take away auctioneer, you take away rogue. I notice that these lists aren't targeting the most powerful decks on ladder. These lists are targeting Rogue disproportionately, and blizzard has failed rogue. I mean, you can't print cards like shadow rager and wonder why we aren't playing it. Print good cards instead of forcing your new cards on us.
That would require balancing though and Blizzard, you straight up can not balance this game. Removing cards, creates space for other classic cards to be dominant, and we will be back at square one until only the most unplayable cards of classic remain. Which begs the question, why make classic evergreen if it isn't actually evergreen?
Also for the people who are like "just remove auctioneer and print a new one" that is a bad precendent. Do you really want to be paying for cards you already own over and over again with different artwork? That is the future we are moving towards when we shame classic cards simply for being around for a long time and no other reason.
The cars I would like to rotate out are the following ones (out of classic only):
Ragnaros Sylvanas Azure Drake (I'm gonna keep the auctioneer here but:) Rogue Stealth nerfing to 2 mana instead of just 1 Fiery War Axe making a 2/2 weapon instead of 3/2 Malygos Alextraza
and maybe some other low cost minions so that not everyone is gonna play zoolock. I guess this might help a little bit to make some slight changes to the meta overall. I didn't include the basic card set but there are some cards to change as well. Overall, I guess this rotation needs to hit first before you can talk further more but just make a difference to the currently played cards right now (shaman, rogue and warrior, I guess warlock as well)

Rotating cards out makes room for new archetypes. Who cares if new and actually good Rogue cards are released if Miracle Rogue is strictly better? Who cares about Menagerie Warden (an actually good card) when Maly Druid is strictly better? Why would you run an 8-drop that wasn't Ragnaros?
An aside, Shaku is seeing play in some Miracle Rogue lists.
With Brode announcing that it's possible that some classic cards will rotate out of standard it is most likely this will happen in the next rotation.
My top picks for what will be rotated out are:
Azure Drake - this 5 drop just dominates the 5 mana slot. They have been trying to give rogues a viable 5 drop in nearly every set since GVG but only Azure Drake ever makes the cut.
haha . stupid salt player very happy. they will request every card rotate out after loses few games. they do not care what happen to meta. they just wan blizzard remove old card and add in new & reprint . they are rich kid that can pay to win can get all collection during launch day.
80% suggestion here about aggro & otk card because this stop the greedy kid play 36 legendary deck. they prefer play 25 legendary skip turn by press hero power until turn 7???? i always meet this kind of player early season in low rank. skip 5 turn. hope for turn 6 board clear . then turn 7 start drop legendary.
20% is about random neutral legendary, random epic. really zero logic . and the card is totally balance.they suggest because own by the f2p player. they are craft priority for meta deck. salt kid wan all move wild , so f2p need to save dust craft new legendary and new card. they can keep wining by out value them when f2p saving dust for card.
i dk why most of them hate freeze mage and rogue card. Freeze mage only meet out 1 out 100 games. why they so salt about all the freeze mage card. freeze mage is so weak in this meta retard??
rogue is meta deck but inconsistent. so many preparation coin joke in stream chat.
i really doubt they play this games or not. may be they play 4-5 games per day with random home brew 25 legendary deck. they loses to random freeze mage and rogue .
everyday, i saw the same threads. freeze mage op. nerf xxx card from freeze mage deck, rogue op. even got idiot say maly rogue op. wtf is tier 5 deck !!!! huntard etc? loses to tier 4 deck is you prob . no the card problem.
some player even worst. ask for move the early removal spell into wild. then how we combat aggro??? maybe is from f2p player suggestion but also no relevant.
How many threads do we need with the same topic? Every classic card that still sees play in the current meta is at risk of being nerfed or rotated. Next question.
My candidates. 16 here, but especially for the first Classic rotation I think 8-12 is probably a correct number (not including the four that should be un-nerfed and rotated).
Flame Imp - will be a 2x in every Zoo until the end of time
Ice Lance - face damage for 1 mana, while remaining flexible enough to target anything
Lightning Bolt - see above
Mana Wyrm - snowbally 1 drop, will be a 2x in every non-control Mage until the end of time
Wrath - overplayed as a 2x in almost every Druid archetype
Frothing Berserker - snowbally pseudo-taunt, in every aggressive or mid-range Warrior
Ice Block - only "stop a loss" card, gotten push back to be changed in the past
Mortal Strike - with the rotation, they're going to have to tone Pirate Warrior down, it's a logical non-Basic card
Azure Drake - overplayed neutral, possibly limits design options around draw and spell damage effects
Doomhammer - too high damage output for one card
Cabal Shadow Priest - oppressive in shutting down any low drops after turn 6, one of the Priest cards that gets the "triggering" feeling that they admit to designing around (aka, giving Priest bad cards so cards like this don't become too prevalent)
Gadgetzan Auctioneer - let's be real, this entire discussion over the past couple days is because of this card
Savannah Highmane - Staple in every non-aggro Hunter
Sylvanas - Overplayed neutral legendary
Ragnaros - Overplayed neutral legendary, random element is too swingy to be around forever (see Blizzcon, where Rag flips dictated almost every game)

I was thinking on Lightning Bolt or Lava Burst from Shaman, too much burst from the hand with the new Jade Lightning
I belive it will be better to rotate classic into wild,
for standard just allow a 10 cards cap (basic + classic)in each deck

can anyone tell me why they rotated loatheb out of standard? imo one of the greatest designed cards in the game and not too op.
Alexstraza I think would be potentially on the list.
