It is about time you ll spend to play game,. Rank doesnt tell u about skill, arena stats dont tell you about skill If you can do some math and remember all cards - you re a good player. That s all.
It's a pointless question, I think. When I play Control Hunter I'm around rank 16 usually, if I play Shadowpriest I'm rank 12, my best rank is 7 with Control Warrior back in October and I only played it occasionally for a couple of weeks to achieve that rank.
I don't think I'm that good a player, I make mistakes, I think I have a decent understanding of the game and I've studied it a lot, but I don't play top tier decks or stick to decks to really learn them inside out. So, is someone who grinds to rank 5 or even legend with SP or aggro much better than me? I don't know, they're more dedicated, but...
Someone said rank 3. I agree. It's a whole different ballgame from 3-legend. You will be facing legend players too around Rank 3, 2, and 1.
I think you are able to go unlimited arena, you would also be considered good. To be able to have that knowledge to construct an arena deck, play it, and anticipate what your opponent is going to play -- that skill is transferable to constructed.
Well, I don't play nearly as much as I used too but if I did I'm sure I could much higher in ranks. I just try to get to rank 15 to get my card back and then that's it. I'm not sure if it's accurate to say it only takes skill to get to such a high rank like 3 because there are a lot of different factors that are at work like what deck counters what, or how good the rng is helping you for example. Also for me to get to a higher rank I would need to feel that I'm having fun, and ladder plain isn't for me right now so I play casual a lot. Since I've been playing since the release of TGT, I've learned from playing without ever caring about what my rank is. Does this make me a bad player? I know how to play around certain cards like famestrike, how to crush secret paladin, how to survive against aggro, etc. at the end of the day, rank doesn't matter one bit for me.
First Step btw. Is Taking Time to think. Enemies Might consider it BM, but i ve managed to get to Rank 5 with oilrogue and mainly patron this Season Even though i can only Play via mobile this month. Including the autoloss every 4-5 Matches due to DC. If you have Little Time/want to improve your skill/have several autolosses you need to take your Time to consider plays that may seem dumb on First thought, but Are a key Point of victory. Especially complexer decks have Many Situations when you Need to take your Time and think about Doing a Play that doesn't use your Cards to Full Potential As a Setup for the followimg turn.
It depends on how much you play, but I would say someone who can make legend is good (and yes, I think you still have to be good even to pilot an aggro deck to legend). A lot of people don't have the time to get to legend so for them I would say somewhere rank 1-3.
as someone who considers himself a good hearthstone player, and doesnt have a ton of time, and somewhat consistently makes the climb, this is what id have to say.
You sorta gotta look at two factors, the first would be your max rank, and the second would be your typical rank (when you arent spending most of the month doing arena)
As far as max rank, only a few thousand people make legend any given month out of tens of millions of users. Hitting legend, even once EVER, I think means you are a very very good player. According to the stats, only 2% of players hit rank 5+ any given month, but id say hitting rank 5 once doesnt make you good. Probably max rank around rank 3 is "good". among all my friends, who all hit rank 5 reasonably consistently, I am the only one who has gotten higher than rank 3, and ive only done it once, so im guessing my legend run was somewhat of a fluke (mixed with the fact that it was one of the few months I had plenty of time on my hands).
For average rank, although only 2% of players hit rank 5, I dont think that very many hearthstone players are particularly good. Hitting rank 7 ought to simply be a matter of time for a good player, because anything below rank 7 is...honestly pretty easy, so you should hit rank 10 every single month for chest, and hit rank 5 any month you are actually trying, so you should regularly be hitting 10, and how often you hit rank 5 would depend on how often you play I suppose.
I completely agree with you that it is almost impossible to go infinite in arena anymore. I average 6.6 wins in arena and I always seem to get crappy rewards, yesterday I got 10 wins and my rewards were: 180 gold, golden common, 85 dust and pack. The dust and golden common is alright but to go infinite I need better gold rewards for high wins
legend is about top 1/4% in a given season. For me if you're not at least top 1%, you're not good period. Hitting rank 5 makes you "not bad" but legend is the baseline for being a solid "good". That said the average casual player should be very happy to hit rank 5 as it's top 2% and most regular but non serious players will end up somewhere 15-10. So being a rank 12 doesn't make u dumb compared to average, but you're no where close to actually being "good".
Now i think to be "serious" and "really good" top .01% is about a fair benchmark. That would be getting top 100 leg with some consistency, and I think that is the minimum you need to consider going pro based on skill. -It's ok i'm not quite there either.
i seem to have the wrong standard of "good" lol. some people are saying you're not "good" unless you are legend?? then whats considered "great"? or "pro"?

ppl are just net decking and trying to climb in ladder, doesnt mean ur that good in game. U just need time to understand how that deck works.. but in arena , u dont have that much time to learn.. Thats y , u have to be so good to get that 12 wins in arena.. my average wins are 6 wins, had 12 wins 3 times. 1 win with mage, 2 with shaman. I consider my self a good player since i have a good ratio in arena.. In ladder i get to rank 5 every season. Y not legend ? i dont have time for that much of grinding.

Minions, servants, soldiers of the cold dark! Obey the call...of Kel'Thuzad!
Face hunter, aggro shaman, mid range shaman, secret hunter, pirate warrior, zoolock.. u guys hate every fast decks.. if u cant beat cancer, join them. There are plenty of counters to secret pally. Control priest is OP wn facing secret pally. One CANNOT win against control priest when ur playing secret pally. So yea, however u went to rank 5, u r a good player. Stop being salty against aggro and semi aggro decks.

Rank 1 over all

Currently sitting at rank 7. I'm an ok player and improving each season but I wouldn't call myself good just yet. Happy with my progress tho
Missing lethal since June 2015.
Rank 4-5 the last six seasons or so. I consider myself average.

Almost NOBODY is infinite in Arena anymore. If you are averaging 7+ wins you are a world class Arena player.

Legend is the only rank that matters
I think Rank 5 and above just show that you know the game a little bit well.
5+ average in arena
Ladder shouldn't really be mentioned when even bots reach rank 5.
Question everything.
