I had a Cairne Bloodhoof in play and then the other guy played a Sylvannas.
Now I could have hit my searing totem into it and then Cairne but I figured since I dropped him first, he would deathrattle (summon Baine) and THEN he would be taken from Sylvannas's death rattle.
Because I thought the above would happen, I chose to simply ignore her for now and hope I draw a hex or earth shock.
Fast forward a couple of turns and I have 3 minions on the board. The other player kills his Sylvannas himself and my Cairne at the same time using a Wild Pyromancer. What happened? Both units died, my Azure Drake was mind controlled and THEN Cairne's deathrattle went off.
HERS WENT OFF FIRST WHEN SHE WAS PLAYED SECOND?! I could have avoided this mess and avoided losing the game...
The deathrattle interaction with sylvanas doesn't work that way. You must be confusing it with the double sylvanas deathrattle interaction.
If you suicide a cairne (or a harvest golem) into a sylvanas, the sylvanas MC triggers first. It ALWAYS works that way, the MC deathrattle always triggers before the deathrattles that summon creatures.
You are correct. This thread was created in January. Blizzard has since changed how deathrattles work and they now trigger in the order they were played.
Because of this thread being over a few months old with bad information I am going to lock it.
I just found the hard way that this is NOT true.

Ah so its goes on whose turn it is? I once read and have since thought, the order they are played causes the order.
So if I attacked into her with Carine it WOULD have happened like I thought? Baine would come and then he would be stolen?

If sylvanas was at 4 health, the MC would not get baine. If the minions die at the same time, sylvanas can't take anything.
Nice to know thanks, but sucks that I lost the game because I didn't know this earlier!
